Chapter 58 Touch her and see what happens!
Nora took the phone.
It was powered off.
She turned it on.
Then, she navigated to a banking website.
She asked the kidnappers for their account details, entered a transfer of 5.05 million dollars, and hit send.
Seconds later, Daniel's phone pinged with a notification of a deposited fund.
The kidnapper was ecstatic.
"Didn't you say ten million? Why is it only five million and fifty thousand?" Daniel asked, displeasure evident in his voice.
"I'll transfer it to you in two installments," Nora replied.
"Fine, just hurry up!" Daniel urged.
Without another word, Nora rapidly transferred another five million and fifty thousand to Daniel.
She lowered her eyelids and closed her eyes, whispering a prayer in her heart.
The credit card she used was one Edmund had set up for her, linked to her husband Isaac's account after they got married.
She had the freedom to spend Isaac's money with that card.
But every transaction made would send a notification to Isaac's phone.
She hoped fervently that Isaac would understand her silent plea for help.
He still had a trace of affection for her and would call the police after decoding her distress signal instead of leaving her to her fate.
It was her only chance for rescue.
The trio of kidnappers stopped digging the hole.
After receiving the money, they stepped aside from Nora and began whispering among themselves.
"Daniel, with that lady being so rich, let's keep her and squeeze out more cash!" one of them suggested.
"You got it," another agreed. "If she gets ten million a month, that's a hundred and twenty million a year. If we keep her for a few years, each of us could become billionaires!"
Daniel frowned, sharing his concern, "Considering her wealth, she likely hails from a family of elevated status. If she goes missing, her relatives will undoubtedly report it to the authorities. The longer we detain her, the higher the risk for all of us."
"So what are you suggesting?" Noe asked.
With gritted teeth, Daniel said, "Ten million is no trifling amount. I'll allocate two million to each of you. It's sufficient for a comfortable life. Let's adhere to the initial plan and proceed with burying her!"
Noe and Jack instantly frowned.
"What's two million good for? Can't even buy a decent house or start a business with capital that low!"
"Daniel, ten million a month, what kind of business could earn you that? Fortune favors the bold. Let's not be cowards and just take the risk!"
Noe chimed in, "Right. We take her deep into the mountains, and even if her family calls the police, they won't find us."
"We just live off her monthly 'allowance.' No need to extort her family. That lowers the risks!"
Daniel's brow furrowed as he deeply pondered the situation.
In the end, the lure of ten million a month overcame all his reservations.
"Alright then, we'll keep her for now. Every brother here ought to get a villa out of this!"
The kidnappers returned, untied the ropes from Nora's feet, and led her into the depths of the mountains.
Meanwhile, at the same time.
Porter Group.
Isaac was reviewing the documents Wesley had sent over.
All of a sudden, his phone buzzed on the desk.
Glancing at the screen, he saw an alert from his bank about a change in his account balance.
A transfer of $5.05 million?
He hadn't initiated any transactions. How could there have been a transfer without his action?
Could his account have been compromised?
Wesley, seemingly catching on to his boss's confusion, quickly interjected, "Isaac, unless I'm mistaken, your father arranged for a secondary card on that account, which is in Nora's possession. So, the transfer might have been made by Nora."
Isaac paused, momentarily taken aback.
Then it hit him; indeed, there was such an arrangement.
But Nora had never used the card in all these years, so he had practically forgotten about it.
Isaac picked up his phone and checked the message again, and sure enough, the detailed information confirmed it was a transaction made with the secondary card.
He glanced at it once more, then tossed the phone aside and went back to the documents in his hand.
Though it struck him as odd that Nora, who had never used the card before their divorce, was now making transactions, he didn't really care.
The money was not a significant concern for him.
He failed to notice the significance of the number 505.
---
As evening fell, the kidnappers took Nora to the base of a mountain and found a cave.
They decided to spend the night there and continue deeper into the mountains the next day.
After dinner, Jack kept staring at Nora, a goofy smile spreading across his face.
"What's with the dopey grin, Jack?" Noe asked, nudging him with his foot.
Jack wiped the corner of his mouth.
His gaze lingered on Nora, and he started to look lecherous, "This woman is stunning, great figure, skin so fair and smooth. I've never seen a woman this beautiful."
At Jack's words, Noe also turned to look at Nora.
He had noticed her beauty much earlier.
But they needed her for ransom, so he had avoided any untoward thoughts.
"Cut it out. We need her for the money," Noe reminded him.
"I'm not talking about killing her; I just want to sleep with her. It won't affect getting the money," Jack argued.
Noe frowned.
Jack went straight over to Daniel and began coaxing, "Daniel, it's been a long time since we've been with a woman; don't you miss it?"
"This one's gorgeous with a great body. It'd be way better than the hookers!"
"Daniel, let's have a go. You can go first, then Noe and I will take a turn!"
Daniel listened, his resolve faltering as well.
Despite his inner turmoil, he compelled himself to restrain, modulating his voice as he instructed, "Don't touch her until we get enough money. If she gets desperate and tries something stupid, it could mess everything up. Once we're paid up, then you can do whatever you want."
Jack retorted, "We just need to keep a close eye on her; she won't even have the chance to think about suicide."
"And besides, we're all pretty good when it comes to bedroom athletics. We take turns training her, and sooner or later, she'll be tamed. By then, she'll hand over the money without us having to even ask," another one chimed in.
"Plus, we're going to be holed up here in the backwoods for anything from a few months to a few years, Daniel. Can you really hold out that long without a woman?"
"Let's get her trained quickly so we can start enjoying ourselves sooner," one of them said convincingly.
Daniel found Jack's words to make a lot of sense and immediately agreed to his suggestion.
"Alright, let's get her tamed tonight!"
The three kidnappers stood up, grinning lewdly as they advanced toward Nora.
Nora tensed up, watching them warily, "Don't try anything! If you touch me, I'll bite my tongue and end it right here. You won't get a dime!"
"I'd advise you against risking your fortune over a fleeting impulse!"
However, her words did not deter the captors.
"With us watching over you, a suicide attempt is impossible!"
"Just give in; we'll make sure you enjoy it."
They quickly approached Nora, drooling with lecherous intent, as they reached out for her.
Nora's complexion turned ashen, her body trembling, as she closed her eyes in desolation, preparing to silence herself by biting her tongue and bringing an end to her own life.
At that moment, an icy, bloodthirsty voice steeped with bone-chilling coldness called out, "I'd like to see you try to touch her!"
