Chapter 384: Maybe Paralyzed, Could Become a Vegetative State

Rhys was doing his best with first aid, but he couldn't sugarcoat it, "We can't jump to conclusions yet, but his condition is pretty grim. Honestly, it's not looking good."

His tone was careful, but everyone could read between the lines.

Magnus was in serious trouble!

Nora's vision went black, and she nearly crumpled to the ground.

"Nora, don't panic. Magnus is lucky; he will pull through!" Mortimer grabbed Nora's shoulders.

Nora bit her tongue hard, the sharp pain jolting her back to reality, forcing herself to stay awake and calm.

Magnus's condition was critical now; she couldn't faint and cause more trouble.

The bodyguards quickly brought a stretcher.

Rhys carefully transferred Magnus onto the stretcher and had him rushed to the hospital's operating room.

Nora immediately wanted to stand up and follow.

But her whole body was weak, and she fell back to the ground halfway up.

"Nora, just take it easy. No need to hurry," Mortimer helped her up and supported her as they left the yard together.

Mortimer's actions were somewhat overstepping, but Nora didn't mind at all. With his support, she quickly followed behind Magnus.

As they walked out of the yard, Mortimer glanced back at Isaac, who was still in a daze. A strange look quickly flashed in Mortimer's eyes.

'Isaac, Magnus got hurt because of you. Don't blame me. This time, Nora won't forgive you. This is all your doing; you should bear the consequences.'

Mortimer withdrew his gaze and left with Nora.

The once-boisterous yard fell into a heavy silence.

Isaac stood frozen, his mind blank, completely stunned.

He couldn't wrap his head around how it had come to this.

He had clearly aimed that kick at Mortimer; how did it end up hitting Magnus instead?

Magnus's image of vomiting blood and falling unconscious, along with Nora's desperate cries, kept replaying in his mind like a sharp blade, cutting deep and tormenting him over and over.

He had hurt his own son like that; Nora would never forgive him.

He couldn't forgive himself either!

'How was Magnus? Rhys was incredibly talented; he would definitely be able to save Magnus. Magnus would be fine!'

Isaac suddenly came to his senses and ran to the hospital in a panic.

By the time he arrived at the hospital, Magnus had already been taken into the operating room by Rhys.

Nora and Mortimer were waiting outside.

Nora was crying, her face full of tears, her whole body trembling like her world had just fallen apart.

Mortimer stood beside her, his arm around her shoulders, looking as if he was holding her in his arms, an intimate gesture that felt completely out of line.

In the past, Mortimer's actions would have driven Isaac crazy, making him feel like he could just snap and take Mortimer out.

But at this moment, seeing Nora's sorrowful appearance, Isaac didn't dare to approach, didn't dare to let Nora notice his presence.

He didn't know how to explain to Nora.

Nora's attention was entirely on the operating room, completely unaware of Isaac's arrival.

Mortimer noticed Isaac immediately.

He glanced at Isaac indifferently, seeing him standing anxiously in the distance, not daring to come closer. A barely noticeable smile appeared on his lips.

He deliberately held Nora tighter, gently comforting her and staying by her side.

Isaac could only watch from a distance, not daring to pull him away, let alone throw a punch.

In fact, Mortimer was counting on Isaac to keep making a scene.

As long as Isaac continued to cause trouble, Nora would be even more disappointed and resentful towards him.

Isaac had just severely injured Magnus, and now Magnus's life hung in the balance. If Isaac caused a scene over such a trivial matter, Nora would definitely hold a grudge against him for life.

Unfortunately, Isaac had suddenly become smart and stopped causing trouble, which disappointed Mortimer a bit.

But it didn't matter.

After all, Magnus being severely injured by Isaac was an undeniable fact.

That alone was enough for Nora to hate Isaac.

Isaac's kick had landed directly in the center of Magnus's back.

With such force, Magnus's spine was definitely broken, and his internal organs were badly damaged.

Whether Magnus would pull through was anyone's guess.

Even if he did survive, there was a high probability he would be paralyzed.

No mother would forgive someone who caused her son to die or a lifetime of paralysis.

After all that time battling with Isaac, Mortimer had finally come out on top.

All the effort and patience had been worth it.

Time passed slowly.

The operating room door remained closed.

The three people outside the operating room didn't leave.

Apart from Nora's sobs, the surroundings were eerily quiet.

The surgery lasted nearly thirty hours.

When the operating room door finally opened, Rhys was in a wheelchair, being pushed out by his assistant.

He had stood for nearly thirty hours, his legs stiff and unable to move.

At the moment the surgery ended, he crumpled to the floor, unable to stand.

Fortunately, he had the foresight to have a wheelchair prepared in the operating room for himself after the surgery.

Nora quickly ran to Rhys, her lips trembling as she spoke, "How is Magnus?"

Her voice came out hoarse, barely recognizable.

After crying for a day and night, not only were her eyes swollen, but her throat was also hoarse.

She knew crying wouldn't solve anything, but she couldn't control her emotions when she thought of Magnus.

Rhys sighed, "His injuries are too severe. I could only stop the internal bleeding, do some basic repairs on his damaged organs, and stabilize his spine."

"We need to wait for him to get through this critical period before we can think about a second surgery."

"But honestly, things don't look good. Whether he can survive the next seventy-two hours depends on his fate."

Rhys sighed again, his tone full of regret.

"I don't mean to sound harsh, but you need to brace yourself for the worst. His injuries are too severe. Several of his internal organs have multiple tears, and we've had to replace his blood several times just to stop the bleeding."

"The internal injuries alone are incredibly dangerous. In a regular hospital, the doctors might not have been able to save him."

"Not to mention, his spine is broken, which is even more critical!"

"You all know how important the spine is, right? Even if we successfully reconnect it, there's a high chance he will be paralyzed."

"Even I can't guarantee anything."

"So, you should be prepared for the worst."

"Even if he survives, there's a high probability he will be bedridden for life, or worse, he might never wake up and end up in a vegetative state."
