Chapter 183 Am I Really That Bad?

Isaac said, "Grandpa was framed.

"Granduncle Thomas, you were closest to Grandpa. You know his character. He'd never do something like this!"

Mark sneered, "If you're so sure, convince everyone else.

"It's not about belief; it's about fixing this mess!"

Isaac looked coldly.

Resolving this situation would be no easy feat.

Unless Mortimer came forward and admitted that everything was a ploy, a scheme to frame his grandfather, there was little hope for a resolution.

But Mortimer would never admit it. If he did, the blame would fall on the Radcliffe family, their business would suffer, and they would face a scandal of epic proportions.

Mortimer was not about to own up.

Mark and Paul exchanged a few words before turning to the silent Thomas. "Thomas, how about this: we give Isaac one week to sort this mess out. If he can't, then we'll have Edmund step down from his position, and we'll strip Isaac of his role as heir. What do you think?

"Keeping someone with questionable morals as head will make us a laughingstock and hurt our business!"

Thomas thought for a moment before saying, "Let Isaac handle it first. We'll discuss the rest later."

Some were unhappy.

But Thomas stood up and told Isaac, "Take me to the hospital. I want to see your grandpa.

"He's my older brother and has made significant contributions to the Porter family. I'm deeply concerned about his health—no amount of power or profit is worth more than his well-being."

His words felt like a direct accusation, implying that the others were more interested in seizing power than in caring for a family member's life.

Faces flushed, and a heavy silence fell over the room as everyone struggled to respond.

Robert helped Thomas up and, alongside Isaac, they left the old house.

Meanwhile, Nora saw the news online when she woke up.

When she read that Edmund was having an affair with Kalista, she was shocked, her face pale, and her phone fell.

"How could Edmund be involved with Kalista? Even if she wanted to, he wouldn't!"

Nora thought the rumor was ridiculous.

But when she picked up her phone and saw the photos, the figure looked a lot like Edmund.

The watch and ring on the man's hand were very similar to Edmund's, especially the unique wedding ring he designed.

Nora was stunned and her face paled.

"How could Grandpa do this? This can't be true!"

Nora rushed downstairs.

"Nora, good morning," Mortimer greeted warmly.

Seeing the servants, Nora controlled her emotions. "Can you come upstairs? I need to ask you something."

Mortimer smiled, "Sure, but have breakfast first. It's just been made; don't let it get cold. We can talk after."

Nora had no appetite, her mind racing with questions.

"I'm not hungry. Come upstairs now!"

Mortimer replied, "You might not be, but the kids need to eat. You don't want them to go hungry, right?"

Just then, the servant came down with Magnus and Soren.

"Good morning, Mommy!"

"Uncle Mortimer, good morning!"

The kids greeted Nora sweetly, and Soren reached out for a hug.

Nora composed herself and took Soren from the servant.

"Good morning, my babies. Did you sleep well?"

"Yes, because you told us a story. Right, Magnus?" Soren said, smiling.

Magnus nodded.

Soren asked, "Mommy, can you tell us a story again tonight? It's so comforting."

Nora nodded, "Alright, let's have breakfast first."

They all went to the dining room.

Though Nora was preoccupied with Edmund's issue, she hid her worries from the kids.

After breakfast, she sent the kids to the yard with the servant and went upstairs with Mortimer to the study.

Once the door closed, Nora demanded, "Who was the man in the video with Kalista?"

Mortimer looked at her. "You saw the rumors online?"

Nora’s face was stern, "Just answer!"

Mortimer sighed, "I just wanted to stop Isaac and Kalista's engagement. I didn't expect the video to go viral."

He showed her the original video on his phone. "See for yourself."

Nora watched the screen.

It was the same video, but the old man's face wasn't pixelated.

It was clearly Edmund.

Nora's heart sank, her face pale, mind blank.

After several seconds, Nora finally caught her breath, her whole body trembling uncontrollably. Her eyes, red with fury, fixed on Mortimer.

Nora screamed, tears streaming down her face, "You framed Edmund, didn't you? He'd never do this. He hates Kalista. How could he be involved with her? He must have been framed!

"Mortimer, how could you do this? This is worse than killing him! You're terrifying!"

Mortimer said bitterly, "Do you trust Edmund so much and distrust me?

"Look closely at the video. Edmund didn't resist. Does he look forced or framed?

"Nora, you can't just assume it's my doing because I have the video.

"We've known each other for years. Am I really that bad in your eyes?"
