Nora looked at Soren's eager eyes and felt a bit of heartache..
She didn't answer Soren's question, just gave her a perfunctory smile.
She held Soren's hand and walked back to the living room.
She placed two small cakes on the table.
"I bought you your favorite strawberry cakes. You can eat them now, and if you're full, you don't have to eat dinner. I won't stop you today."
Nora tried to distract them with delicious food.
Magnus and Soren both glanced at the two strawberry cakes and couldn't help but swallow.
But they didn't rush to eat; instead, they stared at Nora with serious expressions.
"Mommy, did you and Daddy fight?" Magnus asked.
Soren blinked, also waiting for her answer.
Nora smiled and said, "We didn't fight, don't overthink it."
Soren frowned and said in a sweet childlike voice, "Mommy, don't lie to us. You and Daddy definitely fought!"
"No," Nora still denied, "he's just too busy."
Soren insisted, "You did fight!"
"If Daddy was just busy, even if he couldn't come to be with us, he would still call Mommy and talk to us."
"But during this time, Daddy hasn't called at all. You haven't been in contact, and you get upset whenever we mention Daddy."
"So, you and Daddy must have had a fight!"
Nora was silent. She didn't expect Magnus and Soren to be so observant.
Magnus asked, "Mommy, why did you and Daddy fight?"
Soren also looked at Nora nervously.
Did Nora find out that Isaac had a lover?
But she clearly didn't tell Nora, so how did Nora find out?
Nora lowered her eyes, thinking about how to explain to them.
"Mommy, please don't fight with Daddy, okay? I want you and Daddy to be with me. I don't want to see you fight." Magnus walked to Nora's side, grabbed her hand, and pleaded.
Nora forced a smile, "Don't overthink it. I told you, we didn't fight. He's just too busy."
Magnus said, "Then Mommy, contact Daddy now and ask him to come be with us!"
Nora said, "Didn't I just tell you? He has work at the company and is working overtime. He doesn't have time to be with you."
"You need to be good and not bother him. Otherwise, he can't work, won't make money, and we won't have money to eat."
Magnus and Soren still looked unconvinced.
Nora didn't want to say more. She turned to the kitchen and saw the nanny preparing dinner.
During the time Isaac wasn't around, the nanny was responsible for the meals.
The food was already prepared.
After the food was served, Nora let the nanny go home, saying she would clean up after dinner.
After the nanny left, Nora called Magnus and Soren to eat.
They sat at the dining table, but with unhappy expressions.
Nora added food to their plates, but they just sat there without touching their utensils.
"Why aren't you eating?" Nora asked.
Soren pouted and said unhappily, "Mommy, don't avoid our questions. Tell us about you and Daddy first, then we'll eat!"
Nora said, "There's nothing to say. We have no problems."
Soren replied, "Then Mommy, call Daddy now!"
Nora said, "He's working. It's not convenient to disturb him."
Soren insisted, "Daddy said we can contact him anytime. Work isn't more important than us!"
Nora lowered her eyes and didn't speak.
She couldn't contact Isaac.
They had just had an unpleasant argument today. He was probably with Amara now. How could she contact him?
"Mommy doesn't dare to contact Daddy. You must have had a fight, so you don't want to contact him. Mommy, stop lying!" Soren said angrily.
Magnus asked cautiously, "Mommy, why did you and Daddy fight? Can you tell us?"
Nora didn't speak.
Magnus said, "Mommy, we're a family. We're grown up now and want to share your worries. Please tell us."
Soren nodded vigorously, "Yes, we're grown up and can help you!"
Nora felt a warmth in her heart at their words, but also found it amusing.
Two children not even four years old, claiming to be grown up, who would believe that?
But their concern touched her.
"Thank you. I'm very happy and grateful that you care about me, but I really have no worries. You don't need to overthink."
Soren said angrily, "Mommy, you're still brushing us off, treating us like kids, thinking we can't help you, so you won't tell us!"
"If you and Daddy didn't fight, why aren't you in contact? Why hasn't Daddy come to see us?"
Nora pressed her lips tightly.
Magnus and Soren seemed determined to get to the bottom of it.
Nora thought for a long time and decided she should give them an explanation instead of brushing them off.
After all, she could only brush them off for a while, not forever.
After she and Isaac divorced, he would soon marry Amara.
Amara would definitely not allow Isaac to keep in touch with her.
Of course, Nora herself wouldn't stay close to a married man.
By then, with no contact, Magnus and Soren would naturally notice something was wrong.
She had originally planned to keep it from them until Magnus's illness was cured.

Nora took a deep breath and looked at them seriously.
"Magnus, Soren, I know you like Isaac very much, but I need to remind you, he's not your biological father. He was just worried that without a father, you might be teased or bullied at school, so he kindly let you call him 'Daddy.'"
"Don't think that just because you've called him that for a long time, he's really your biological father."
Soren's face showed a sad and disappointed expression, and tears were about to fall.
Why wasn't Isaac her real father?
Magnus was much calmer and more composed, because he knew Isaac was his real father.
Nora couldn't fool him. He looked so much like Isaac, it was obvious they were related.
