Chapter 166 The Person Isaac Wants to Marry Is Not Her

Nora froze and spun around.

Kalista had snuck up behind her, grinning at Isaac. "Isaac, I’m willing to marry you!"

Kalista pushed Nora aside, grabbed the roses from Isaac, and walked up to him.

Nora almost fell but steadied herself, thinking Kalista's excitement was absurd.

She thought Kalista was delusional.

Nora looked at Isaac, expecting him to correct Kalista and say he wanted to marry her instead.

Isaac had just confessed his feelings to her; he couldn't be proposing to Kalista.

But to Nora's shock, Isaac didn't deny it. He pulled out a ring and gently placed it on Kalista's finger.

"I've wronged you all these years. From now on, I'll take care of you and the child," Isaac said softly.

He then kissed the back of Kalista's hand.

Kalista, moved and excited, said, "I've been waiting for you to marry me, I don't feel wronged at all.

"Isaac, I'll be a good wife and give you many children!"

Isaac responded softly.

"Isaac, get up!" Kalista pulled him up and threw herself into his arms.

Isaac stiffened but didn't push her away.

Kalista cried tears of joy.

Nora stood there, stunned, unable to believe what she was seeing.

So, she was the delusional one?

Isaac had planned to propose to Kalista all along?

It wasn't Kalista who misunderstood; it was her?

Nora's heart ached, and she felt like she couldn't breathe.

She clenched her fists and asked, "Isaac, did you call me here just to watch you propose to Kalista?"

Isaac looked down and said indifferently, "You once said you hoped I would be with Kalista, so I called you to witness this moment. I thought you'd be happy."

Nora bit her lip, tears streaming down her face.

Happy?

How could she be happy?

If it were before, she might have accepted it.

But after Isaac confessed to her and said he wanted to start over, then proposed to Kalista, she couldn't be happy.

If Isaac wanted to be with Kalista, what did his confession to her mean?

"Isaac, why are you doing this? What about what you said to me before? Were they all lies?" Nora asked, her voice trembling.

Isaac chuckled mockingly, "You didn't actually believe it, did you?"

Nora stared at him in disbelief, "What do you mean by that?"

Isaac sneered, "Do you think I could forgive a woman who cheated on me?"

Nora was stunned.

So, during those three days in the cave, he had been deceiving her all along?

What was Isaac's goal?

To make her fall for him and then crush her?

"I don't believe it. If you were just trying to get back at me, why would you risk your life to jump off a cliff to save me?" Nora questioned.

Isaac said, "Did you really think I jumped off a cliff?"

Nora stared at him, confused.

Isaac smirked, "I took a helicopter down. I just made up a lie to fool you, and you actually believed it."

"Such a ridiculous lie, and you believed it. You really are stupid," he continued to add salt to her wounds.

Nora's heart felt like it was being ripped apart, and her tears flowed even harder.

She suddenly slapped Isaac hard.

"Isaac, you're despicable! I repaid my debt to you long ago. Why do you still want to torment me?"

Nora was shaking with anger, feeling like her heart was being cut by a knife.

She could handle Isaac's revenge, but not him playing with her emotions!

Kalista slapped Nora back. "How dare you! Who gave you the right to hit Isaac?

"So what if Isaac is toying with you? You've hurt him so much. Even if he cut you into a thousand pieces, you should accept it. What right do you have to blame him?

"Besides, no matter his intentions, he saved your life. He's your savior, and this is how you repay him? You're so ungrateful!"

Isaac looked at the slap mark on Nora's face, his eyes darkening. But he quickly looked away, his gaze turning cold.

"Get out. Don't ever show up in front of me again!" Isaac said coldly.

Nora bit her lip hard, her eyes red as she looked at Isaac. But Isaac lowered his eyes and looked tenderly at Kalista, not even glancing at Nora.

Kalista wrapped her arms around Isaac's waist, leaning against his chest, looking at Nora provocatively.

Nora's heart felt dead, her eyes red as she ran out of the room.

Isaac watched her leave, a flash of pain crossing his eyes. 'Nora, I'm sorry, I broke my promise again. But I can't disregard Edmund's reputation or the Porter Family's honor. If I don't do as Mortimer says, the Porter Family will be disgraced, and Edmund won't want to live anymore. And Katie would be driven to death by anger,' he thought miserably.

Isaac closed his eyes, hiding the pain.

"Isaac, I'm so happy. I've waited so long for you to propose to me. When will we get married?" Kalista said shyly.

When Isaac left in the evening, he was so cold to her. Kalista thought it was impossible between them. But half an hour later, Isaac called her, asking her to come to this hotel immediately, saying he wanted to propose. The happiness came too quickly; Kalista felt like she was dreaming! Could it be that Isaac had ignored her before just to surprise her?

Kalista's face was full of happiness as she hugged Isaac tightly.

Kalista's shy voice brought Isaac back to reality. Isaac suddenly opened his eyes and pushed Kalista away in annoyance.

"Isaac?" Kalista almost fell, looking at him in shock. Why had Isaac's attitude suddenly turned so cold?

Isaac said coldly, "I'm not feeling well. I'm going back." With that, he strode out, leaving a bewildered Kalista behind.

It took her several seconds to come to her senses, and she hurriedly chased after him.

In the room, Isaac's friends were all looking bewildered, still in shock.

After a long time, Nigel was the first to speak, "What's going on with Isaac? Why did he suddenly propose to Kalista? Didn't he call us out to witness his proposal to Nora? Why did he change the leading lady at the last minute?"

No one answered him.

Nigel nudged Harold. "Isaac is your cousin, you should know what's going on, right? What happened? Was everything Isaac did just to get back at Nora? Why did he even keep it from us?"

Harold frowned. "I don't know what's going on either, but I know Isaac definitely isn't doing this to get back at Nora. He doesn't seem like he really wants to marry Kalista."

Nigel questioned, "Then what's going on? Was he threatened?"

Harold shook his head. He didn't know what was going on either.
