Chapter 276 Confronting Her and Taking Her to the Hospital

Rhys said, "Listen, this kind of slow-acting poison doesn't kill you right away. It builds up in your system, breaking down your body bit by bit until the final dose just overwhelms you."

Isaac's fists clenched, and he felt like he couldn't breathe.

So, Nora was really affected by the accident.

Rhys sighed, "Get Nora to the hospital ASAP. I'll check her out again. Last time, the dose she took wasn't too bad, and she still had a chance to recover. But I don't know how much more she's ingested since then. I need to see her to figure out if there's any serious damage."

Isaac nodded, "Got it. I'll take her to the hospital right now. Meet me there!"

He hung up and rushed out of the office.

He drove like a madman to Nora's art studio.

Nora was busy with a customer, just about to close a deal and take a deposit.

Isaac stormed in, grabbed her, and started dragging her out.

"What the hell, Isaac? I'm working!" Nora was shocked.

But when he didn't say a word and kept pulling her, she tried to break free.

Business had been slow, and she didn't want to lose this customer.

"Let go, Isaac! I just need a few more minutes to finish this deal," Nora pleaded.

But Isaac didn't budge, dragging her out of the store.

"Honey, please?" Nora tried to soften her voice, hoping he'd give in.

Usually, that worked. But not this time.

He shoved her into the car, buckled her in, and jumped into the driver's seat.

His face was set in stone, and he drove off without a word.

"What are you doing?" Nora snapped.

She appreciated his help with the kids lately, but this was too much.

"Taking you to the hospital," Isaac said through gritted teeth.

Nora's heart skipped a beat.

Did he find out about her stomach cancer?

She hadn't told anyone, not even Mortimer.

Isaac couldn't know.

"Why are you taking me to the hospital? I'm fine. Take me back, I need to work!"

Isaac's grip on the steering wheel tightened, veins popping.

"Turn around and take me back!" Nora demanded.

Isaac's jaw clenched, "Shut up. You're going to the hospital today, even if I have to tie you up!"

Nora's heart sank.

He was dead serious.

Maybe because Isaac had been so nice lately, Nora had forgotten how he used to treat her with that cold, distant look.

Now, hearing his angry voice, she felt really hurt.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have yelled at you. I'm just really worried about you," Isaac said, realizing he had messed up and awkwardly apologized.

Nora clenched her hands on her knees.

"Why do you suddenly want to take me to the hospital for a check-up?"

Isaac pressed his lips together, not saying a word. The ride was tense and silent.

They finally pulled into the hospital parking lot.

Isaac didn't get out right away. He turned to look at Nora, his eyes filled with a storm of emotions.

Nora met his gaze but instinctively wanted to look away.

Then she remembered she couldn't back down, so she glared back at him fiercely.

She didn't want to be checked, didn't want Isaac to find out about her stomach cancer.

She had to make him let her go.

Isaac looked at her and suddenly said, "Do you think you have stomach cancer?"

Nora's eyes widened in disbelief. "How do you know?"

Her mind was racing, and she felt panicked.

The next moment, she denied it, "I don't have stomach cancer. Don't talk nonsense, don't curse me! And don't tell the kids!"

She hadn't told anyone because she didn't want the kids to be sad.

Isaac looked at her deeply. "You don't have stomach cancer, but the medication you're taking will make you die with the symptoms of stomach cancer."

Nora stared at him, shocked. "What do you mean? I don't understand."

Isaac closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and tried to calm down.

When he opened his eyes again, he was more composed.

He looked into her eyes and said seriously, "You don't have a cancer. The medication you're taking isn't for treatment, it's a slow-acting poison. If you keep taking it for three months, your body will be severely damaged, eventually leading to death. And after you die, a routine check-up will only show that you died of stomach cancer, not that you were poisoned."

Nora's eyes widened even more. "I don't have stomach cancer? The medication I'm taking to relieve stomach cancer symptoms is actually a poison!"

Isaac nodded. "Yes, don't get too worked up. You haven't finished the medication yet, so there's still hope. Since you've been secretly taking it for some time, I need to take you to the hospital for a check-up. Don't worry, with Rhys here, he's really good. As long as it's not too late, he can definitely help you!"

Nora stared at him blankly, her mind in chaos.

No wonder Rhys never found any signs of stomach cancer when he checked her before.

It turned out she never had it.

"Who poisoned me? Why did the doctor who checked me lie to me? Why did he prescribe poison for me? I don't even know him, I have no grudge against him," Nora asked.
