Chapter 139 Isaac Lends a Hand
Nora, who had been dodging, suddenly stopped, allowing Cole's knife to stab her.
But just as the knife was about to pierce Nora's abdomen, Isaac grabbed her arm and forcefully pulled her aside.
The knife veered off course, only grazing Nora's side.
But Cole was relentless. He had lost his mind.
Cole raised his hand again, aiming to stab Nora.
Before he could get close, someone kicked him hard, sending him flying.
Then, a group of bodyguards rushed in, subduing Cole and the three troublemakers.
The music in the bar stopped. The staff began to evacuate the crowd.
Nora turned to look at Isaac, who had pulled her away, with a hint of surprise in her eyes.
It was Isaac.
Even though he had saved her, Nora felt no gratitude towards Isaac. Instead, she felt that Isaac had ruined her plan and said, displeased, "Why do you pull me away?"
Isaac said sternly, "Stop doing things that harm both sides!"
Isaac immediately saw through Nora's true intentions.
Nora wanted Cole to injure her so she could accuse him of attempted murder and send him to prison.
"My business is none of your concern!" Nora said unhappily.
Isaac sneered, saying, "Ungrateful woman, if I didn't intervene, you wouldn't even know how you died!"
Nora pursed her lips, still full of dissatisfaction.
She didn't have long to live anyway. Even if she died here, it didn't matter to her.
If she really died at Cole's hands, not only could she send him to prison, but he could also be sentenced to death. That would make her death worthwhile!
Although she wasn't seriously injured, Nora still called the police.
When the police arrived, they arrested Cole on the spot.
Then, Isaac pulled Nora into a car and had Wesley drive her to the hospital.
"Why do we go to the hospital? It's just a minor injury. A band-aid will do," Nora said.
Isaac glanced at her, "Don't you want to deal with Cole?"
Nora looked at him in surprise.
Isaac was actually willing to help her?
With Isaac's help, dealing with Cole would be a piece of cake.
Although she didn't want to owe Isaac a favor, it would be difficult for her to find another opportunity to get back at Cole on her own in a short time.
So, accepting Isaac's help was the best option.
Nora fell silent.
When they arrived at the hospital, Isaac helped her with the admission procedures.
Then, Isaac contacted one of the most famous lawyers in the country to handle the case.
Nora sent messages to Sophia and Steve, telling them that she had some matters to attend to and would be away for a few days, so she wouldn't have time to meet them.
The people Isaac arranged were very efficient.
In just three days, the lawyer came to see her.
"Mrs. Foster, I've negotiated a settlement with the defendant's lawyer. They will compensate you with fifteen million dollars for medical expenses and emotional distress. We will issue a letter of understanding, not pressing charges."
Nora's face darkened, asking, "If I don't want compensation, how many years can he be sentenced?"
The lawyer said, "If you insist on pressing charges, given your injuries, he won't get more than ten years. But getting a ten-year sentence is very difficult because your injuries don't even count as minor injuries. Since we haven't pressed charges yet, you don't need a medical evaluation. I deliberately exaggerated your condition to scare him into agreeing to the fifteen million dollar settlement. If you insist on pressing charges, the police will monitor you for a medical evaluation. Based on your actual injuries, he wouldn't even be sentenced. At most, he'd get less than three months of detention. So, I think compensation is the better option."
Nora nodded, "Alright, let's go with your suggestion."The lawyer smiled. "I'll handle the paperwork right away to avoid any delays."
That afternoon, Cole's house, car, and other assets were transferred to Nora's name.Additionally, Cole owed over two million dollars, which he couldn't pay, so he had to write an IOU under the lawyer's supervision.
After receiving the compensation, Nora immediately left the hospital to find Sophia. Thanks to Nora's persuasion that day, Sophia had already pulled herself together. When Nora arrived at the shop, Sophia was drawing on a sketchpad.
"Sophia, stop what you're doing and close the shop. I'm taking you somewhere," Nora said cheerfully.
"Nora, you're back! What have you been up to these past few days? Why are you so happy?" Sophia asked curiously.
Nora winked mysteriously. "You'll find out soon. You'll be just as happy as I am!"
"Hurry up, if we go early, we can watch the drama. If we're late, it won't be as fun," Nora added.
Sophia was puzzled about what Nora was planning, but she put down her sketchpad, closed the shop, and took a cab with Nora.
When Nora told the driver the address, Sophia's face instantly changed, feeling resistance and fear.
Nora was taking her to the new house that Cole had taken over.
That place was her nightmare. Sophia didn't want to go and see those adulterers. She had just managed to pull herself together and feared that seeing Cole again would break her resolve.
"Nora, why are we going there? Let's go back. I don't want to go," Sophia said, full of resistance.
Nora held her hand and comforted her, "Don't be afraid. I'm here. I won't let them bully you again!"
Sophia still looked resistant.
"Trust me, I won't take you to relive the pain. I'm taking you there because something good will happen," Nora assured.
Sophia frowned, full of doubt.
However, seeing Nora's sincere expression, she finally chose to trust her.
With mixed feelings, they arrived at the apartment complex. They took the elevator to the 13th floor, where the apartment was located.
As soon as the elevator doors opened, Sophia saw her apartment ,no, Cole's apartment, with the door open and luggage piled at the entrance.
Cole and his family were cursing and moving things out.
Sophia was stunned, thinking, 'What is going on? They have just moved in, so why are they moving out?'
At that moment, Cole was going to come out with some things when they saw Nora and Sophia. His face twisted with anger.
"Bitch, weren't you supposed to be unconscious with an infected wound, and at death's door? Why are you here?!" Cole asked.
Nora blinked, thinking, 'So that's what her lawyer has told Cole. No wonder Cole agree to the compensation and the letter of understanding. Otherwise, if what her lawyer said is true and Cole has a mishap, it would be considered attempted murder. He could be sentenced to death.'
Nora smirked and said mockingly, "Because when I heard you agreed to compensate me fifteen million dollars, I was so happy that my wounds healed. Oh, thanks for agreeing so quickly. If you had delayed a couple more days, there wouldn't even be a scar left."
