Chapter 253 Isaac Is So Cold
The phone was picked up in no time.
Isaac's deep voice came through. "Nora, what's up?" His tone was soft and gentle.
Honestly, he wasn't even this careful with Magnus and Soren.
Nora asked, "Are you still at work? Why aren't you back yet?"
Isaac's breathing got heavier, his voice thick with barely contained excitement and joy. "Nora, are you worried about me?"
Nora said, "Magnus and Soren are really grateful you saved them. They got you some gifts."
The excitement in his voice started to calm down.
Nora paused and then said, "I also made dinner just for you..."
Before she could finish, Isaac immediately said, excitedly, "I'll be right back!"
"Okay, we'll wait for you," Nora said softly.
At the airport.
Wesley grabbed the boarding passes and ran towards Isaac. "Mr. Porter, I got the boarding passes. Let's go... Hey? Mr. Porter, where are you going? Security check is that way, that's the exit!"
Isaac didn't even turn his head. "Cancel the trip, I'm going home for dinner!"
Wesley was shocked. He hurriedly caught up, asking as he ran, "Mr. Porter, are you hungry? There's in-flight meals on the plane. If you don't like it, you can eat at a local hotel after landing. I can contact them to prepare in advance before we board."
Isaac replied, "I said, cancel the trip. I'm spending the evening with my wife, no business trip!"
Wesley was taken aback, almost losing his breath. He thought Isaac canceled the trip for something important, but it turned out to be just to have dinner with his wife?
"Mr. Porter, the cooperation with Serenitia has been delayed for a long time. Now that Mrs. Porter is back and your eyes are healed, this cooperation can't be delayed any longer. If it drags on, they might switch to another partner." Wesley tried to persuade anxiously as he jogged.
Isaac said, "Inform them to send someone to Aridonia to discuss the cooperation. It's inconvenient for me to fly over. If they refuse and want to cooperate with another company, let them. Losing this cooperation won't have much impact on the Porter Group."
Wesley was silent.
It wouldn't have much impact. But it would affect the expansion of overseas business.
But seeing Isaac's determined look, he could only sigh helplessly. Looking at the two boarding passes in his hand, he threw them in the trash.
When Isaac returned to Nora's house, it was already past eight.
"Sorry, I'm late," Isaac said, his deep eyes looking at Nora gently.This was the first time Nora had shown him any kindness since she returned. He was so happy that he didn't regret canceling the deal for a second.
"Is work busy?" Nora asked politely.
Isaac said, "Yeah, I haven't been to the company for a while, so there's a lot to handle."
Nora didn't ask further and said, "Go wash your hands and get ready to eat."
Isaac nodded with a smile. "Got it."
"Uncle Isaac!" Soren's voice rang out as she ran over, happily throwing herself at Isaac. She hugged his leg and said in her sweet, childlike voice, "Uncle Isaac, the police said you saved me and Magnus. Thank you~"
Isaac's body stiffened a bit, his hands quietly clenching at his sides. Looking down at Soren's bright eyes, he felt a mix of emotions.
He used to really like Magnus and Soren. He was still fuming over the fact that Nora had hidden the children's true parentage, making him care for them like a fool.
Now, whenever he saw them, he felt very uncomfortable. Even though he was willing to force himself to accept their presence for Nora's sake, he couldn't treat them the same as before.
Isaac gently pushed Soren away, his deep voice slightly cold. "No need to thank me. I promised Nora I would save you. I was just keeping my promise to her."
Soren looked up at him, her face showing a hurt expression.
She pondered, 'Uncle Isaac is so cold. Does he not like her anymore? But I really like him, his embrace is so warm. Being around him made me feel safe and warm inside. He used to be so good to me and Magnus. Why doesn't he like me anymore?'
The more Soren thought about it, the more upset she felt, her eyes welling up with tears.
But Isaac pretended not to see, took off his suit jacket, and then walked to the bathroom to wash his hands.
Nora looked at Soren's disappointed face, feeling heartbroken. But then she thought, 'If Isaac keeps pushing them away, they'd eventually lose their affection for him. When the time comes for me to send them off, they wouldn't be as heartbroken.'
Thinking this, she sighed slightly. But seeing Magnus and Soren's sad faces still made her heart ache.
Nora took them to wash their hands. Then she brought the dishes to the table.
The four of them sat at the dining table to eat.
Magnus and Soren barely touched their food, and Nora could tell they weren't enjoying it, even though they didn't complain.
She was frustrated. She had been trying hard to learn, why couldn't she get it right? It seemed she really had no talent for cooking.
Nora glanced at Isaac.
He was eating with great enjoyment, occasionally showing a satisfied expression, his eyes filled with a smile.
When everyone else was done, Isaac was still eating, almost finishing all the dishes.
He put down his utensils contentedly, looking at Nora with a gentle smile. "Thank you for the meal. This is the most satisfying meal I've had in months."
Nora's mouth twitched.
Magnus and Soren suddenly ran back to their room to get the gifts, and then handed the gifts to Isaac. "Uncle Isaac, this is a gift for you. Thank you for saving us!"
Isaac lowered his eyes, looking coldly at the gift in Soren's hand.
