Chapter 398: Do You Like Me?
Isaac replied quickly, [I don't have the time to get angry over something so trivial.]
[When he was brought back by the Hansen family, he was already a wreck. Even without this accident, he wouldn't be much different from now.]
Sylvie typed another message and sent it: [Since he's not much use to you, why did you agree to the deal?]
Isaac: [I didn't know how serious his condition was at the time. My doctor only told me after examining him that his chances of recovery were very low, but by then I had already signed the contract with your mom.]
Sylvie asked, [Won't you break the contract?]
If he really didn't care about the child anymore, breaking the contract would just mean not getting the child, which wouldn't be a big loss for him.
Isaac was still so young, having more healthy children wouldn't be difficult for him.
This almost ruined child couldn't inherit the family business at all and would instead need the Porter family to arrange for someone to take care of him for life.
This was a complete burden.
Isaac: [Although that child is n rough shape, he is still a Porter. If word got out that I couldn't even save a Porter family child, it would be bad for the Porter family's reputation and people would criticize us.]
[So, as long as your mother doesn't make any outrageous demands, I won't break the contract.]
[But if the demands are too unreasonable and what I have to pay exceeds the value I get, I'd rather be called cold-hearted than continue the deal.]
Sylvie: [Isn't asking you to marry into the Hansen family too much?]
Isaac: [If it's marrying someone I like, I don't see a problem.]
[Besides, marrying in is just a figure of speech. She can't control me, and I won't let her control me.]
Liora looked at the message from Isaac, excitedly said to Sylvie, "Mom, ask him if he likes me!"
Sylvie shot back coldly, "Seriously? What are you talking about? How can a girl be so forward?"
Liora spoke unhappily, "I'm just asking if he likes me, it's not like I'm doing anything, how is that forward?"
"If asking if he likes me is too much, then what about Amara living with him?"
"You..." Sylvie was speechless with anger.
However, she also wanted to know who Isaac's heart leaned towards.
Sylvie, mimicking Liora's tone, sent another message: [Marrying someone you like? So, do you like Amara?]
Isaac: [She's too noisy, I prefer quieter women.]
Sylvie: [What about me? Do you like me?]
Liora stared at the phone screen, nervous and excited.
After a while, Isaac replied, [I can't say I like you since we haven't really interacted, but honestly, I have a better impression of you than I do of Amara.]
Liora was overjoyed, excitedly voiced, "Mom, did you see that? Isaac said he has a better impression of me. You should match me with him, not force Amara to approach him!"
Sylvie spoke in a deep voice, "You're too proud and emotional, prone to extremes. I'm not not helping you, I'm just afraid you..."
Liora's face darkened, dissatisfied, "Isaac said he doesn't like Amara and has a better impression of me, yet you still want to put me down, make me give up on Isaac, and continue to match Amara with Isaac?"
Sylvie uttered, "I'm just reminding you."
Liora shouted, "I don't need your reminder, I know what to do!"
She was already tired of Sylvie's lectures.
Amara did nothing every day, just spent the family's money, and contributed nothing to the family, yet Sylvie never scolded anything to Amara.
She never caused any trouble for the family and made so many contributions to the family business, yet Sylvie said she was emotional and extreme.
This was favoritism!
Sylvie sighed, "Fine, since you don't like to hear it, I won't say anything. Just be careful when you interact with Isaac, don't be naive."
"Your goal is to make Isaac fall in love with you, willingly marry into the Hansen family, and work for the Hansen family. Don't get too emotionally involved and end up being controlled by him."
Amara often played around outside, seemingly flirtatious, but she wasn't emotionally involved.
Sylvie wasn't worried that Amara would lose herself in front of Isaac and be controlled by him.
But Liora was different.
Liora had very low emotional intelligence.
And she hadn't interacted much with men, and her personality was stubborn.
She genuinely liked Isaac, and it was very likely she would become emotionally involved and forget her true purpose in approaching Isaac.
"I know what to do." Liora spoke in a deep voice.
Sylvie shook her head and handed the phone back to Liora.
"From now on, you don't need to be grounded, and I'll remove the bodyguards at the door. You can interact with Isaac properly, I'm waiting for your good news."
Liora responded half-heartedly.
Sylvie said nothing more and turned to leave.
The next day.
In the evening, Isaac arrived at the Hansen Mansion.
He first went to see Barrett.
Children had a particularly strong ability to recover, and his injuries had basically healed.
But his memory seemed not to have recovered.
When he saw Isaac, Barrett's eyes were still confused, with a hint of curiosity, and a look of wanting to get close but also being afraid.
Isaac only stayed with Barrett for ten minutes, asked Rhys about Barrett's condition, and then left.
When he left, Barrett looked at him with reluctance.
Barrett wanted to keep him but couldn't speak, so he could only grab his sleeve.
But Isaac heartlessly pulled his sleeve back and didn't stay any longer.
Isaac walked to the hospital entrance and saw Liora waiting for him.
She was wearing a white dress today, with short hair, and a full set of makeup on her face.
When she saw Isaac, she smiled, "I didn't expect Mr. Porter to really come. Shall we find a place to sit?"
Isaac's face was calm, his voice indifferent, "Sure, I haven't had dinner yet, let's eat and talk."
Liora's heart raced, but she smiled reservedly, "Alright, I know Viridonia well, I can take you to some great places to eat."
Isaac didn't refuse.
Liora wasn't as scheming as Amara, she didn't deliberately choose a romantic restaurant.
She chose a roadside restaurant and said to Isaac, "Don't let the simple decor fool you, the food here is great and very clean. I used to come here often when I was in school."
Isaac replied nothing and sat opposite her.
Liora asked Isaac a few business questions.
These questions weren't random, they were ones she couldn't figure out herself.
Isaac explained them all to her.
Listening to his deep voice seriously answering her questions, her heart raced, and her mind was filled with him.
At this moment, her determination to win him reached its peak!
After Isaac finished answering, Liora said admiringly, "You're amazing, I could never figure out these points without your explanation."
"Isaac, would it be okay if I went back to Aridonia with you?"
"Just to be clear, I only want to follow you and learn more about business."
