Chapter 134 Scheming against Isaac

Chapter 134 Scheming against Isaac

Kalista sobbed. "I've been kicked out of Isaac's mansion now, having no chance to investigate!"

Mortimer's voice turned cold, "I'm ordering you, not negotiating with you. If you can't even handle this small matter, there's no need for me to keep you around."

Mortimer never concealed the fact that he used Kalista for his own ends.

After Mortimer hung up the phone directly, Kalista angrily slammed her phone on the sofa. "Damn it. Everyone is giving me a hard time. No one treats me like a human! I am the future mistress of the Porter family. You have no right to treat me like this. Mortimer, Nora, wait for me! After I succeed, I will make you pay for what you've done!"

Although Kalista was very angry, she dared not disobey Mortimer's orders.

Mortimer had leverage over her. She was afraid that if she angered him, he would ruin her reputation.

Having been kicked out of Isaac's mansion, she couldn't go there to investigate. After thinking for a moment, Kalista suddenly came up with a plan.

On the other side, after leaving the restaurant, Nora had originally planned to take Steve to the hospital, but Steve strongly resisted.

"It's a minor injury. Just need tobandage it up when we get back." Steve glanced at his wound, indifferent.

Nora had no choice but to take him home.

Upon returning home, Nora immediately took out the first aid kit.

Steve took off his clothes, revealing the wound on his arm.

The wound was about two inches long and about one inch deep, with the flesh splitting open on both sides, blood flowing down his arm, staining it red. It looked somewhat serious.

"This wound is too deep and needs stitches. Let's go to the hospital," Nora said worriedly.

Steve glanced at it and said, "Bandage it up first. I'll deal with it tomorrow. I'm tired and want to rest."

Nora frowned.

Steve rubbed his forehead. "I haven't had a good rest these days. Let me sleep well for a while."

Seeing his tired eyes, Nora felt a twinge of compassion.

She sighed, reluctantly saying, "Alright, I'll bandage it for you. Don't move around in your sleep to prevent the wound from reopening."

Steve nodded with a smile.

Nora disinfected the wound with hydrogen peroxide, applied antiseptic and anti-inflammatory ointment, and then tightly wrapped the wound with a bandage to prevent it from splitting open.

The next morning at six o'clock, Nora woke up.

She found that Steve had already left.

"How busy is he? Going to work so early in the morning?" Nora muttered.

After lying in bed for a while, she got up.

It was still early when she left, so Nora decided to walk to the store instead of taking a taxi.

With little time left, she wanted to savor the world around her.

Nora leisurely walked to the store and arrived at 8 o'clock.

Upon entering, she was surprised to find Sophia in the store.

"Sophia? Why are you living in the store?" Nora asked in astonishment.

Nora sniffed a strong smell of alcohol and something foul. Looking around, she saw empty bottles scattered around, along with some vomit.

Nora felt nauseous.

She suppressed the urge to vomit, hurried over, and helped Sophia up from the floor.

Sophia slowly looked at Nora."Who are you?"

"I'm Nora. Don't you even recognize me?" Nora felt both heartache and anger.

"Nora?" After thinking for a moment, Sophia seemed to finally remember her, drunkenly saying, "Nora is coming. I need to hide, not letting Nora see me, not making her worry."

Sophia swayed as she tried to push Nora away, attempting to find a place to hide.

Nora felt sour and thought, 'Even in her current state, the silly girl is still worried about me.'

Without speaking more, Nora helped Sophia to the bathroom, undressed her, and washed her all over.

Then, she helped Sophia into bed to sleep.

"I still want to drink. Where's my wine?" Although Sophia was not conscious, she instinctively reached out for the alcohol.

Nora poured a glass of water and handed it to her. "Here's your drink. Go ahead."

In her blurry state, Sophia couldn't recognize that it wasn't alcohol.

Nora asked softly, "Why are you living in the store and not going back home?"

Upon hearing the word 'home,' Sophia burst into laughter.

"Home? I don't have a home. I have nothing left." As she laughed, tears welled up in Sophia's eyes.

Nora frowned. "Din't you buy a house? Why do you say you have no home?"

She knew about Sophia's situation at home.

In recent years, Sophia had been subsidizing Cole, leading to a fallout with her family, making it impossible for her to return to her original home.

But Sophia had recently bought a new house that she had paid for most of the house.

Even if she had fallen out with Cole, the house should still belong to her.

Sophia wouldn't be homeless.

"My house, my house was taken by that bastard. Although I paid for it all, the house became his. I hate it!"

Nora's face darkened.

Was the house taken by Cole?

Did Sophia pay for it all?

Didn't Sophia tell her that Cole also contributed money?

Nora urgently asked, "What's going on? Do you pay for the new house entirely?"

By now, since Sophia was too drunk to think clearly, Nora easily extracted all the information from Sophia.

Sophia recounted everything that had happened after she returned home the day before.

After listening, Nora trembled with anger. "That scumbag Cole. I always feel he isn't a good person, but I never imagine he is even more despicable than I think!"

He had been scheming against Sophia for seven years.

Not only deceiving her emotionally but also financially.

He even sold Sophia, allowing her to be humiliated by a stranger for seven years!

The more Nora thought about it, the angrier she became. "Cole, wait. You've bullied my good friend. I won't let you off the hook!"

Nora closed her eyes and took several deep breaths to calm her anger, thinking, 'As an outsider, I am furious. How much pain must Sophia be in?'

Nora gently touched Sophia's face with a heart full of pity. "Don't worry. Before I die, I will help you deal with him."

Nora cleaned up all the empty bottles and vomit in the store.

By the time Nora finished cleaning up, it was already noon.

She disguised herself, locked the store, and took a taxi to the food processing factory near Cole's place, funded by Sophia's money.

Meanwhile, at the Porter Group.

Kalista arrived at the company carrying a food box.

Due to her well-known relationship with Isaac, she had no trouble going straight to Isaac's office.

Kalista knocked on the door.

"Come in," Isaac's low and indifferent voice came from the office.

Kalista pushed open the door and walked in.

"Put the stuff down and leave." Isaac kept his head down, writing something on the documents, and didn't even look up as he spoke.

Kalista walked up to Isaac's desk and placed the food box down but didn't leave immediately.

"Isaac, it's already noon. It's time for lunch. You should eat first before getting busy," she said gently.

Isaac's hand paused.

When he saw Kalista, his expression turned cold. He frowned, asking, "Why is it you? What are you doing here?"

Kalista bit her lip and said with a hint of grievance, "You've been so busy lately. I'm worried about your health, so I made some food specially for you to try..."

"Isaac, your health is more important than work. Eat your meal first before getting busy, and I'll leave after you finish eating. I promise not to disturb you," Kalista said.

Isaac said coldly, "Wesley has already gone to prepare lunch for me. He knows my taste. I don't like the food you made."

Kalista's mouth twitched.

She clenched her fists, choked up, and said, "My cooking has improved. Just take a bite. If you still don't like it after trying, I'll leave immediately."

Although Isaac was getting impatient, he didn't want to argue with Kalista.

To quickly get Kalista to leave, Isaac impatiently said, "Show me."

Kalista was overjoyed.

She immediately opened the food box and took out the food.

After serving the soup, she eagerly extended her hand, offering the soup to Isaac.

However, due to Kalista's lack of control, most of the soup spilled onto Isaac.

"Sorry, Isaac, I din't mean to. I was too careless. Let me help you wipe it off!" Kalista exclaimed in shock, frantically trying to wipe it off.

As she wiped, Kalista's hand accidentally tugged at Isaac's left hand.

Isaac's face darkened as he pushed Kalista away. "I'll go change my clothes. You take your things and leave."

With that, he strode towards the lounge.

"I'm sorry," Kalista apologized tearfully.

But she obediently packed up her things and left the Porter Group.

Once in the car, she wiped away her tears and called Mortimer, "Mr. Radcliffe, I tested it. Isaac's left hand is indeed injured, but I couldn't make him take off his clothes to show me. So, I don't know how long the wound is."
