Chapter 208 Isaac's Confession
"Mommy, shall we? Pleeease!" Magnus started the begging game.
"Yeah, Mommy, say yes!"
"Mommy, mommy, pleeease."
Magnus and Soren were tag-teaming, their cute little voices working their magic.
Mortimer chimed in, "Come on, Nora, they just wanna have some fun. Let's take 'em out today."
Nora finally caved, "Alright, alright. Let's go have some fun."
"Yay! Thanks, Mommy!" Magnus and Soren cheered.
With a soft smile, Mortimer handed Soren to Nora. Each carrying a kid, they headed out.
Once they were out of sight, a figure stepped out from behind a billboard.
Isaac's eyes narrowed as he watched them leave, a dark and menacing vibe radiating from him.
Isaac thought, 'Magnus and Soren called her "Mommy"? They're actually Nora's kids!'
And those two were all buddy-buddy with Mortimer. Mortimer even said "family" earlier.
He mulled it over, 'So, those kids are Nora and Mortimer's? Magnus and Soren are about three, which lines up with when Nora ditched me. They were born the year she left!'
He murmured, "Nora, what else are you hiding from me? How much of what you told me was real? You're such a snake!"
She had the nerve to lie, saying Magnus and Soren were her friends' kids.
'She made me look like an idiot, helping take care of her and Mortimer's kids!' The more Isaac thought about it, the angrier he got, his eyes blazing with fury.
Staring the direction they left, he said, "Nora, you're not getting away with this!"
He chucked the flowers he was holding into the trash and stormed off.
Nora and Mortimer spent the whole day at the amusement park with Magnus and Soren.
It wasn't until it got dark that they finally left.
After grabbing dinner, Mortimer drove them home.
Magnus and Soren were wiped out from all the fun and crashed as soon as they got home.
Nora had Olivia and Ava bathe them while she took a hot bath in her room.
Afterward, she was about to hit the sack with the kids.
But then, her phone rang.
She glanced at it; it was Isaac.
Nora answered, "Hey, it's late. What's up?"
Isaac's deep voice came through the phone, sounding even more magnetic and husky, "I'm downstairs. Can you come down? I need to talk to you."
Nora asked, "Can't it wait till tomorrow?"
Isaac said, "It's really important. I'm waiting downstairs. If you don't come down, I'll be here all night."
And then he hung up.
Nora was speechless.
She had no choice but to get up and get dressed.
As she was about to leave, Olivia asked, "Ms. Foster, where are you going so late?"
Nora said, "A friend is here to see me. He's just downstairs. I'll be back soon."
Olivia said worriedly, "I'll go with you. It's not safe for a girl to go out alone this late, especially someone as beautiful as you."
Nora chuckled, "It's cool, Olivia. I'm just heading downstairs. I'll be back in a jiffy. You go get some rest."
Olivia still looked worried.
She glanced around and spotted a folding fruit knife on the table.
She quickly grabbed it and handed it to Nora.
"If you won't let me come with you, at least take this for protection."
Nora couldn't help but laugh.
She thought Olivia was being a bit too cautious.
There was no danger lurking in the stairwell, just a few steps down.
But she knew Olivia was just worrying about her.
To ease Olivia's mind, she slipped the folding knife into her pocket.
"Alright, I'll take it. Don't worry, Olivia. Go get some rest."
Nora left and took the elevator to the first floor.
She stepped outside the building and looked around but didn't see Isaac.
Nora thought, 'Didn't Isaac say he was downstairs? Where is he? Is he playing a prank on me in the middle of the night?'
She pulled out her phone to call Isaac.
But just then, a tall figure emerged from behind a tree.
He was tall, wearing a sharp suit, and holding a bouquet of vibrant red roses.
In the dim light, he looked dashing, walking towards her step by step.
Nora's heart skipped a beat.
But as her eyes traveled from his feet up to his face, her excitement fizzled out.
"Steve?"
Nora frowned, puzzled at the sight of him. "What are you doing here? Didn't I tell you not to come back?"
At first, she thought the man emerging from behind the tree was Isaac.
But it turned out to be Steve!
Nora felt a headache coming on.
Steve hadn't shown up for a while, and she thought he had accepted their breakup.
But now he suddenly appeared again.
'Is Steve trying to get back together with me?' she wondered.
With the kids around, she couldn't agree to continue their relationship.
Not even if Steve demanded compensation.
Steve didn't say a word. He just looked at Nora with deep eyes, holding the roses, and stepped closer to her.
His presence was overwhelming, and as he got closer, Nora felt a sense of pressure.
This pressure felt familiar.
Nora frowned in confusion.
Soon, Steve stopped right in front of her.
He lowered his eyes, looking deeply into hers.
"What do you want?" Nora asked, impatiently.
She still needed to find Isaac.
She was also worried Isaac might suddenly show up and see her with Steve.
Even though they had already met, she still didn't want them to see each other.
Steve finally spoke, his deep, magnetic voice resonating. "Yesterday, you said that because you had been with another man, even though you still loved me, you didn't want to get back together because you didn't want to taint what you once cherished most.
"I came today to tell you that if that's your only concern, you don't need to worry about it."
Nora's eyes widened in shock as she looked at him.
"You! You!"
She pointed at Steve, her lips trembling and her voice catching in her throat.
Nora thought, 'Steve's voice sounded exactly like Isaac's!'
