Chapter 273 Loved Him for So Many Years
At five in the afternoon, Nora waved goodbye to Sophia and got ready to pick up Magnus and Soren.
Just as she reached the store's entrance, a sleek black Maybach rolled up and stopped right next to her.
The window slid down, and there was Isaac, looking as handsome as ever behind the wheel. "Hop in."
Nora blinked in surprise. "Shouldn't you be at the office? What are you doing here? Where are we going?"
"I need to pick up Magnus and Soren from kindergarten. No time for anything else," Isaac said with a smirk. "I'm taking you there. Get in."
Nora was stunned.
He took time off just to help her pick up the kids?
Still a bit dazed, she got into the car. "Aren't you supposed to be working? How do you have time for this?"
Isaac shrugged. "I took some time off."
Nora turned to look at him, completely puzzled. Why was he doing this?
Isaac explained, "It's Magnus and Soren's first day at school. If their parents don't pick them up, their classmates and teachers might think less of them or start rumors."
He knew what that was like. When he was a kid, his parents, Edmund and Katie, were always too busy, so the housekeeper picked him up. His classmates called him an orphan and said he was unloved. He was isolated from kindergarten all the way through school.
Things got a bit better in middle school, but he was still introverted and friendless, always alone. His childhood had a big impact on him.
"Thanks," Nora finally said.
The car drove on and soon pulled up at Grand Kindergarten.
School had just let out, and parents were everywhere, picking up their kids.
Nora and Isaac stood at the entrance of Magnus and Soren's classroom.
"Mommy!" Soren spotted Nora and ran over, wrapping her arms around Nora's leg.
Isaac had suggested they pretend to be Magnus and Soren's parents at school, so the kids could call them Mommy and Daddy there.
Soren hadn't called her Mommy in public for a long time.
Nora's heart melted, and she squatted down to hug her. "Good girl."
"Mommy." Magnus ran over too, calling out.
"Good boy!" Nora let go of Soren, turned to hug Magnus and kissed his cheek.
Magnus didn't say much, but his eyes sparkled with happiness.
"Daddy!" Soren walked up to Isaac, looking up at him with a mix of excitement and nervousness.
Mommy had said they could call Isaac Daddy in front of their teachers and classmates.
This was her first time calling him that.
Isaac looked at Soren with a complicated expression, feeling complicated.
After a few seconds, he managed a smile. "How was school? Did you have fun?"
Soren nodded happily. "Yes. I made some friends and had a great time."
Magnus glanced at Isaac, lips pressed tight, wanting to say something but holding back. Remembering Isaac's previous coldness, he decided not to call out.
He noticed that when Soren called him Daddy, Isaac hesitated before responding.
Isaac didn't really want to be their Daddy. He was just pretending for Mommy's sake.
"Let's go home," Nora said, holding Magnus and Soren's hands as they got into the car.
Back home, Nora asked the kids about their day at school while Isaac went to make dinner.
During dinner, Soren, in her sweet little voice, asked, "Can we call you Daddy and Mommy at home too?"
Nora's heart tightened, and she instinctively gripped her utensils.
Isaac was also taken aback, his eyes darkening.
Soren softly said, "Since we can call you that at school, it should be okay to call you that at home too, right?"
Isaac looked up at Nora.
Nora avoided his gaze.
But he could see the anticipation and anxiety on her face.
His eyes darkened further, feeling very conflicted.
But to make Nora happy, he finally said in a deep voice, "Okay."
Nora looked up in shock. She hadn't expected that.
She felt very conflicted. But more than anything, she was happy.
To hide their identities, Magnus and Soren hadn't dared to call her Mommy in public for a long time, and it had been very painful for her.
Feeling a mix of emotions, she finished dinner.
After putting Magnus and Soren to bed, Nora walked out of their room.
Isaac had already gone to his room, but the door was only slightly ajar.
Nora walked to the door and knocked.
Isaac's deep voice came from inside. "Come in."
Nora then walked in.
Isaac was leaning against the headboard, a laptop on his knees. Hearing the door open, he looked up and met Nora's gaze, a smile forming on his lips.
"Goodnight kiss," Nora said awkwardly.
Isaac then beckoned her over. "Come here."
Nora took a few steps closer.
As she got close to the bed, Isaac suddenly grabbed her wrist and pulled her forcefully. She lost her balance and fell onto him.
A gasp escaped her lips. Before she could say more, Isaac lowered his head and kissed her. The gasp turned into a muffled, intimate sound.
The passionate kiss deepened, and Nora found herself increasingly lost in his kisses.
Sometimes, she even craved more than just a simple kiss. She knew she was falling.
Even though she kept reminding herself that this was just a lost bet, that everything Isaac did was to get back at her.
But this was the man she had loved for so many years.
From her teenage years to 24, she had loved him.
This feeling wasn't something she could just let go of.
Even though she knew his kindness was fake, she moved uncontrollably.
She even tried to convince herself that he treated her this way because he didn't know the truth and thought she had betrayed him...
A sudden whirl brought her back to reality.
She realized that she and Isaac had switched positions, and she was now beneath him.
Isaac's kisses had moved from her lips down her neck. His hands were venturing into forbidden territory.
