Chapter 206 I Will Give You the Answer

Isaac locked eyes with Nora, his gaze intense. "So, this is why you won't patch things up with me?"

Nora sighed, "Yeah, whether you care or not, I can't just let it slide. I don't wanna mess up what was once a beautiful first love.

"Even if we get back together, every time we're close, I'll be thinking about what happened with someone else.

"Getting back with you won't make me happy; it'll just be daily pain.

"We can't rewind time. I hope you get that and stop bugging me.

"I've moved on. I'm happy now, and I don't wanna get back together."

Isaac's lips pressed into a thin line, his eyes darkening.

"I get it," he said, his voice steady. He pulled his hands back and turned to leave the studio.

Nora crumpled to the floor, feeling hollow, tears streaming down her face.

'Is Isaac really giving up?' she wondered.

Hugging her knees, she cried silently.

She didn't know how long she sat there until she finally calmed down. Standing up, she took a deep breath and walked out of the studio.

Back in the lounge, she saw familiar dishes on the table again.

Nora was stunned. 'I threw that food away. How is it back on the table? Did Olivia and Ava fish it out of the trash?'

Just as she was thinking this, she saw a familiar figure approaching with another dish.

"Perfect timing. I remade the food. Sit down and eat," Isaac said with a smile.

Nora stared at him, confused. "Why are you still here? Didn't you get what I said?"

Isaac nodded, "I got it."

Nora asked, "Then what's this about?"

Isaac looked serious. "Don't rush. I'll explain. For now, let's eat."

Magnus and Soren were already at the table, looking at her eagerly.

"Nora, I like Isaac's cooking. Can you not throw it away?" Soren pleaded softly.

Nora felt a pang of guilt.

Her cooking skills were lacking, and Magnus and Soren didn't really enjoy her food.

Maybe that's why they liked Isaac's cooking.

Realizing it was late and the kids were hungry, Nora didn't push the issue and sat down at the table.

Nora ate absentmindedly.

Magnus and Soren, on the other hand, were loving it.

After the meal, Magnus and Soren went for their afternoon nap.

Nora finally got a chance to ask Isaac, "Can you explain now why you're still here?"

Isaac said, "Be patient. I'll explain tomorrow."

Nora was impatient. "Why wait until tomorrow? Can't you explain now?"

Isaac shrugged, "I didn't prepare, so I can't explain clearly."

Nora frowned, thinking, 'It's just an explanation, what needs preparing?'

"Just one day, don't rush." Isaac reached out to touch her head.

Nora instinctively slapped his hand away.

Isaac paused, then chuckled, "I have something to do today, so I'll leave. I'll come find you tomorrow."

Before Nora could react, he leaned down and kissed her cheek.

Before she could get angry, he quickly got up and left.

Nora fumed, "Isaac, you jerk!"

Isaac chuckled softly, not the least bit angry.

Nora glared daggers at Isaac's retreating figure.

It wasn't until he was completely out of sight that she wiped her cheek furiously.

But her heart was still racing.

Outside the shop, Mortimer stepped out from a nearby store, his eyes coldly tracking Isaac's back.

A few days ago, the Elder found out about Edmund's video, which was filmed at their Radcliffe house, and guessed it was Mortimer's doing, grounding him to reflect.

He was only released today.

As soon as he was free, Alaric told him that Isaac had been visiting Nora every day and getting along well with the kids.

Worried, he rushed to find Nora.

And unexpectedly, he ran straight into Isaac.

It seemed that Alaric wasn't lying.

Mortimer turned and walked into Nora's studio.

"Nora."

"Mortimer? What are you doing here?" Nora was surprised to see him.

Mortimer smiled softly, "I haven't seen you for a week. Just wanted to check on you and the kids."

Nora was taken aback. 'Has it really been a week since Mortimer last saw me?'

This past week, Isaac had been visiting every day, and she hadn't even noticed.

Nora awkwardly scratched her head. "The kids and I are fine. I hired two nannies, and they take good care of the kids."

Mortimer nodded, "That's good to hear.

"By the way, I saw Isaac at the door just now. What's he doing here?"

Nora felt a bit guilty.

Mortimer continued, "The store owner next door said he's been coming every day this week with a bouquet of roses."

Realizing he already knew, Nora admitted, "Yeah, he wants to get back together, but I refused. I threw all the flowers he gave me into the trash."

Mortimer added, "The store owner also said he comes in the morning and stays until you close, leaving with you.

"If you refused him, why let him stay all day?"

Nora explained, "Magnus and Soren want to play with him. I want to make the kids happy."

Mortimer's eyes narrowed, a sense of alertness rising. "Aren't you afraid he'll figure out the kids' identities if you let him play with them?"

Nora said, "I always make them wear masks. Isaac can't see their faces, so he won't know."

Mortimer shook his head disapprovingly. "The masks might fall off during play, and if you're not watching closely, he might secretly take them off.

"Nora, you're being too careless. You're risking their lives!"

Nora pressed her lips together, not speaking.

Mortimer said seriously, "Nora, you should let me take care of the kids. I've been looking after them more, and I can better ensure their safety."

Nora said, "I want to keep them with me for a few more days. After that, I'll need your help."

Mortimer frowned. "A few more days? Why?"

Nora smiled lightly, "Because I want to spend more time with them and leave them with some beautiful memories of me."

Mortimer said, "Even if I take care of them, you can still spend time with them. I won't stop you from seeing them."

Nora smiled.

She was afraid she wouldn't have the chance.
