Chapter 188 Save Him One Last Time
Wesley cried and said, "Rhys has gone abroad. It's too late to call him back now.
"I don't have much time to talk to you. Hurry to the hospital. I hope you can make it in time so that Isaac can see you one last time. He's been calling your name since he fell into a coma.
"Isaac cares so much about you. Maybe seeing you will bring him good luck."
After Wesley finished speaking, he hurriedly hung up the phone.
Nora stood there in a daze, her mind blank.
Nora mused, 'Isaac is critically ill! Isaac has been calling my name since he fell into a coma.'
A sharp pain pierced deep in her heart as she was distraught.
Nora gritted her teeth, clenched her hands tightly, and dug her nails into her palms.She forced herself to stay calm.She couldn't let Daxton manipulate her.
'If I compromise this time, he would continue to threaten me in the future.I couldn't help Daxton commit evil deeds!' Nora thought.
"It seems someone by Isaac's side called you. Do you believe me now? If you don't follow my instructions, I will really let Isaac die," Daxton said with a smirk from a distance.
Nora took a deep breath, suppressing the urge to fight Daxton.
"Do whatever you want. It has nothing to do with me! As long as I'm not the one who kills him, I won't feel guilty!" Nora declared.
Daxton raised an eyebrow, curious. He taunted, "Really? In that case, let's wait Isaac die together. As his closest people, we'll send him off together. I'm sure he'll be very comforted."
Nora said coldly, "Who the hell do you think you are to him?"
Daxton said, "No matter what I've done, I brought him into this world. That alone makes me his closest connection. He shares my blood."
Nora's face darkened, anger swirling inside her.
If given the choice, Isaac would never want to be his son!
Every time someone mentioned Daxton in front of Isaac, he would fly into a volcanic rage, full of disgust.
One could only imagine how much he hated Daxton.
Daxton had his driver take out a tablet and open a video call interface for her to see.
On the other end of the video, Isaac was lying on the bed, barely clinging to life.
Nora's heart sank in despair, her eyes narrowing slightly in frustration.
Nora pondered, 'There couldn't be any outsiders around Isaac, yet Daxton could capture footage of Isaac's critical condition. He must have planted a spy by Isaac's side.'
Nora pressed her lips tightly together in annoyance, her eyes bloodshot, staring grimly at the screen.
In the video, blood kept spilling from Isaac's mouth. His eyes were closed, his face as pale as paper, yet his lips moved as if he were mumbling something.
Suddenly, the camera zoomed in, and the sound became clearer. Nora vaguely heard Isaac murmur, "Nora, don't go."
Nora's heart trembled violently, and tears uncontrollably welled up.But she still gritted her teeth, adamantly refusing to yield.
Nora mused, 'I couldn't compromise or help Daxton commit evil! I won't allow myself to kill an innocent child.'
Even though she hated Kalista, she couldn't bear to harm the child in her belly.
No matter the grudges between adults, children were always innocent.
"Can you really stand to to watch him die?" Daxton smirked as he continued to taunt her.
Nora wiped her tears forcefully and said through gritted teeth, "He's your son, and you could be the one to end his life. I'm just watching. Why wouldn't I be able to handle it?"
She added, "After all, everyone dies eventually. Whether it's sooner or later, death is inevitable!"
Daxton mocked, "Can you really think that way? Fine, then watch him die. He only has three minutes left. Cherish these last three minutes."
Nora's fists clenched even tighter as she tried to compose herself.
Time ticked by, Isaac's condition worsened.The doctors had started a blood transfusion.
But Isaac kept vomiting blood, and it couldn't be stabilized. The transfusion didn't work on him.The heart rate on the monitor grew weaker.
Three minutes passed quickly.
Nora forced herself to stay calm, gritting her teeth as she focused on the video.
She was betting on Daxton's soft heart.
She couldn't lose her mind like four years ago when she saw Isaac collapse and easily agreed to Daxton's demands.
Nora brooded, 'If I had held on a bit longer back then, maybe Daxton would have stopped on his own.After all, Isaac is his son.He wouldn't be cruel enough to kill his own son!'
But with only ten seconds left, Daxton still showed no sign of relenting, his face cold as ever. He even leisurely started counting down.

In the end, Nora compromised,"Fine, Let Isaac go!"
She couldn't be as ruthless as Daxton, couldn't watch Isaac die.
Daxton immediately pressed a button on his phone.
Soon, Isaac stopped vomiting blood, and his face looked much better.
"A miracle! Isaac stopped bleeding. If the bleeding stops, he can be saved!" the doctors exclaimed and were overjoyed. They began to give it all they had to save Isaac.
At this moment, Daxton ended the video call.
"I didn't expect you to love Isaac so deeply. He left you to marry another woman, and you still want to save him. Is it really worth it?" Daxton asked with a smirk.
Nora said with disgust, "That's none of your business!
"Get it straight. This is the last time I will compromise. I am repaying him for saving my life. Don't think you can use his life to threaten me again. I won't compromise for him anymore!"
Nora thought, 'I don't have much time left, and there wouldn't be another chance to be threatened.'
Daxton didn't comment on her words.
"Get in the car. I'll take you back to the city now. You have three days. Once you get back, act quickly and don't waste time."
Nora got into the car with a grim face.Two hours later, the car arrived back in downtown Aridonia.
Nora got out of the car, initially wanting to go to the hospital to see Isaac.But after weighing the pros and cons, she suppressed her impulse.
Daxton definitely didn't want her and Isaac to rekindle their old feelings.
Even the slightest sign of it could lead to more threats endangering Isaac.
So, she decided to keep her distance from Isaac.
Besides, Magnus and Soren were waiting for her at home.
She had been out for nearly six hours. Nora wondered if Magnus and Soren were okay.Nora immediately hailed a cab to go home.
At this time, Isaac's condition had stabilized in the hospital. He had been moved to a ward and had woken up.
Wesley stood by the bed, wiping his tears. "Isaac, you're finally awake. You scared me when you suddenly vomited blood!" he cried, relieved.
Isaac looked around the ward and saw only Wesley. His eyes dimmed with disappointment. "Where's Nora?" he asked.
Before he lost consciousness, he felt like he was dying and asked Wesley to contact Nora. He wanted to see her one last time before he died.
