Chapter 252 Repaying Him
"Mom, the cops said it was Uncle Isaac who called them to save Magnus and me. Does that make him our hero?" Soren suddenly asked.
Nora froze. The police told them that? She didn't want Magnus and Soren to feel like they owed anyone. She preferred to handle everything herself.
After thinking for a bit, she said, "Yeah, he did find out where you were and called the police to rescue you. But you don't need to feel like you owe him. Just treat him like normal. You don't owe him anything. I've repaid him for you."
Even without the contract, Nora didn't think Isaac saving Magnus and Soren meant they owed him. They were his kids too, and he had a duty to save them.
Honestly, Isaac owed them a lot more than they owed him.
"Why?" Soren asked, "Uncle Isaac saved our lives, so why can't we see him as our hero?"
Nora was stumped. She didn't know how to explain it to them.
Magnus's focus was different from Soren's. He looked up at Nora and asked, "How did you repay Uncle Isaac's kindness?"
Nora's heart skipped a beat. She hadn't expected Magnus to latch onto that detail.
Hearing Magnus's question, Soren also looked at her curiously. "Mom, how did you repay him? Did you marry him?"
Nora almost choked and started coughing violently.
Soren's question was too shocking!
Magnus jumped off his chair, walked behind her, and silently patted her back.
Nora slowly caught her breath and stopped coughing. She turned back to pat Magnus's head, thanking him for his concern and help.
Soren asked curiously, "Mom, will you and Uncle Isaac have babies? If you have babies, will you stop loving Magnus and me?"
Magnus's eyes darkened, and his little fists clenched tightly. He didn't speak, but he cared deeply about this question.
Nora chuckled, "Don't overthink it. Having you two adorable kids is enough for me. I'm not having any more kids unless it's absolutely necessary. No matter what, Mom will always love you. Nothing can ever change that."
Magnus's clenched fists slowly relaxed. Soren's face also lit up with a happy smile.
Because in the past few years, Nora had spent very little time with them and often disappeared, they both felt very insecure. So they were very worried that if Nora had new babies, she wouldn't want them anymore.
Hearing Nora's promise now, they both felt relieved.
"Mom, I still want to get a gift to thank Uncle Isaac. It's great that you thanked him, but Magnus and I were the ones he saved, so we should thank him too!" Soren said earnestly.
Nora felt a pang of emotion.
Magnus and Soren were so thoughtful. She couldn't let her issues with Isaac mess up their innocent world.
"Alright, let's eat first. After dinner, we'll go pick out a gift," Nora said gently.
Magnus and Soren immediately dug into their food with happy faces.
After dinner, Soren was practically bouncing off the walls, ready to go shopping the second he got off his chair.
But Nora was worried about them getting stomachaches from moving around too soon, so she made them chill for half an hour before heading out.
Before leaving, she made sure they wore their masks, as usual.
Stepping outside, Nora was surprised to see that Isaac hadn't posted any guards to watch her.
Just yesterday, there were bodyguards everywhere, but now, they were all gone. Wasn't he worried she'd take off?
Even without the guards, she wouldn't run. She'd already sworn on Magnus and Soren's future. She wouldn't dare.
Maybe Isaac felt safe enough to pull the guards because he knew she wouldn't run. If that was the case, it showed he knew her too well.
With mixed feelings, Nora took Magnus and Soren to the mall.
When they passed a toy store, Soren grabbed Magnus's hand and dashed inside.
Nora laughed.
Weren't they supposed to buy a gift for Isaac? What kind of gift were they planning to get in a toy store? Were they just shopping for themselves?
Nora followed them in.
Magnus and Soren picked out a few toys, and she bought them all.
After buying the toys, Soren seemed to remember their main mission and dragged Magnus to other stores to find a gift for Isaac. They even kept it a secret from her.
Nora had to wait outside.
By the time they finished, it was already past five.
Nora decided to take them home. After a moment of hesitation, she bought some ingredients to cook dinner. Even though she wasn't a great cook, she decided to make an effort to show her gratitude.
After all, she had asked Isaac for help, and he had come through for her.
If the kids knew to give gifts, she should at least show some appreciation. Otherwise, wouldn't it seem like she was less thoughtful than a three-year-old?
Back home, Nora let Magnus and Soren play with their new toys while she took the ingredients into the kitchen and started preparing dinner.
After bustling around for more than two hours, she finally finished. It was almost 7:30 by then.
Isaac should have been home from work by now.
Why was he so late today? Was he held up by something, or did something happen?
Nora dialed Isaac's number.
