Chapter 516 Overhearing His Intentions, Greatly Shocked
"Let's go outside and talk," Isaac said calmly. Then he turned and walked out first. Rhys frowned and followed behind Isaac.
They walked along the hospital corridor for a while, stopping only when they reached the hospital entrance.
Rhys looked at Isaac and asked, "Tell me, what's going on between you and Amara? Didn't you cut ties with the Hansen family? Why are you still in contact with Amara? And, she looks pregnant. Is the baby in her belly related to you?"
Isaac wouldn't care about someone for no reason, especially since the Hansen family had unpleasant dealings with him.
He couldn't figure out why Isaac would still be in contact with Amara. Unless Amara was carrying his baby.
"She's carrying my baby," Isaac said in a deep voice.
"What?" Rhys was shocked, his voice uncontrollably louder.
He looked at Isaac in disbelief, and after a while, he found his voice again and urgently asked, "How did she get pregnant with your baby? What's going on between you two?"
"The Hansen family did such terrible things to Magnus. His body hasn't fully recovered yet, and you're involved with Amara, even letting her carry your baby. How can you face Magnus?"
Rhys paced back and forth, pulling his hair in frustration.
Isaac lowered his eyes and said in a deep voice, "I was framed at the Maritime Commerce Convention and had a sexual relationship with her. She got pregnant with my baby at that time."
Rhys shouted angrily, "So you're just going to let her have that baby? Since it was an accident, it shouldn't be born!"
"You said you were framed, and the person who framed you is most likely connected to her. Even if you force her to abort the baby, you wouldn't be wrong! Why are you letting her keep the baby? Why do you care so much about her? How can you do this to Nora?"
Isaac's eyes were dark with heavy and oppressive aura.
After a long while, he said painfully, "I have no choice, and I have no right to reject that baby. That baby is Magnus's only hope."
"I don't want that baby more than anyone else. I only want the child that Nora and I have."
"But I have no choice. I can only let her have the baby, and I must let her have the baby."
"I love Nora, but I'm also Magnus's father. I can't ignore Magnus's life just to maintain the pure love between Nora and me!"
His voice was always silent, but the pain in his tone was evident.
That sense of oppression felt suffocating.
Rhys was stunned and didn't react for a moment, "What?"
Isaac smiled bitterly, "Didn't you say that only with umbilical cord blood is there hope to develop a drug to cure Magnus's disease? But we don't have Magnus's umbilical cord blood, nor do we have his siblings' umbilical cord blood."
"At this time, Amara is pregnant with my baby, and the timing coincides with the deadline you gave. How can I not let her have the baby?"
"As a father, how can I give up the only hope of saving Magnus?"
"If it were you, what would you choose? Would you give up the child for your wife?"
"If Nora knew that I had a chance to save Magnus's life but gave up this only chance, she wouldn't forgive me either."
Rhys finally realized which Magnus Isaac was talking about.
It was all Isaac's fault for not giving the illegitimate child at home a proper name, using the same name as Nora's child, which confused him.
Rhys frowned and said, "But the Magnus diagnosed with a blood disease, isn't he Nora and Mortimer's child? Even if you let Amara have your baby, the baby's umbilical cord blood won't help!"
Isaac said, "All three children are mine and Nora's, and have nothing to do with Mortimer."
Rhys's eyes widened in shock, "What did you say? Are you sure? You weren't deceived, right? Before Nora left you, she clearly aborted your baby. How could she have given birth to your baby?"
Isaac said, "I once took several samples and had you do a DNA test. Those were my and the children's hair, no mistake. As for what happened back then, it should have been Nora deliberately acting to deceive me."
Rhys was puzzled, "Why would Nora do that?"
Isaac smiled bitterly; he didn't know either. Nora wouldn't say.
He investigated but couldn't find the reason.
Rhys took a deep breath, and after a while, he absorbed all the information.
For a moment, he didn't know whether to be happy that Isaac had two more children or sad that to save Magnus, he had to let Amara, whom he didn't like, have his baby.
He thought to himself, troubled, 'Once Amara's baby is born, and Nora finds out in the future, there will definitely be a rift between Nora and Isaac. Even if Isaac did it to save Magnus and had no choice but to let Amara have the baby, there will still be a rift between them.'
Rhys asked, "You should know that once Amara's baby is born, your relationship with Nora will never be the same. Are you mentally prepared for that?"
Isaac said bitterly, "I have no choice. Between love and Magnus's life, I can only choose Magnus's life."
Rhys was silent, a wave of bitterness surging within him.
'Magnus is Isaac's son, and as a father, he can't just watch Magnus die. No matter how much he loves Nora, love can't be compared to life. If he doesn't save Magnus, Nora will be heartbroken for a lifetime, and Isaac will feel guilty for a lifetime. It's a dead end. Isaac has no choice but grasp the only hope, even if the outcome is the end of his and Nora's love.'
Rhys asked, "What about after Amara has the baby? How do you plan to arrange for her and the baby?"
Amara was, after all, a member of the Hansen family, a big family. Isaac couldn't just let Amara die; the Hansen family would trace it back to him.
As the Hansen family's daughter, Amara couldn't just help him have a baby without getting a status.
Isaac lowered his eyes and said calmly, "I haven't thought about the future. I'm only thinking about curing Magnus's disease first. The future can wait."
Rhys was silent for a while and asked, "Will you marry Amara? Amara is the Hansen family's daughter. Once Amara has your baby, the Hansen family will definitely force you to give her a status."
Isaac said in a deep voice, "I won't marry her. I can give her any compensation, but my wife will only be Nora."
Rhys looked at him and sighed deeply, "Fine, do as you see fit. I can't help you, I can only do my best with Magnus's condition."
At that moment, behind a pillar not far from them, Amara leaned against the pillar, her face pale, her body trembling violently, and tears silently falling.
