Chapter 163 It's Actually Him!
After Nora left Mortimer, she went to the repair shop to get her phone.
Even though it had been in water, its waterproof feature saved it. They just had to replace a few parts.
When Nora turned it on, she saw several missed calls.
Isaac and Sophia had both tried to reach her.
Nora decided to call Isaac back first.
"Why'd it take you so long to call me back? What have you been up to?" Isaac asked with a smile.
"My phone broke, so I took it in for repairs. Just got it back and called you right away," Nora replied.
Isaac chuckled, "You called me first? That's more like it."
"Have you seen Grandma? How is she?" Nora asked.
"She's the same as always," Isaac said.
Nora sighed in relief. As long as she wasn't getting worse, it was fine.
Even though she didn't like Katie, she was still Isaac's grandmother and Edmund's wife. She didn't want anything bad to happen to her.
Isaac's voice came through again, "My friend is hosting a dinner tonight. Come with me."
Nora's heart started racing.
Was Isaac going to tell his friends they had reconciled?
Despite feeling a bit shy, Nora agreed, "Okay, see you tonight."
Perfect, after dinner she could talk to Isaac about the kids.
After chatting with Isaac for a while, Nora hung up and called Sophia back.
As soon as Sophia answered, she asked worriedly, "Nora, where have you been these past few days? You suddenly disappeared, and I couldn't reach you. What's going on?"
Not wanting Sophia to worry, Nora brushed it off, "Nothing serious, I just went out of town for a few days. My phone broke and I just got it fixed today."
Sophia sighed in relief. "As long as you're okay. I have to go now; I'm about to enter the operating room."
"Is the surgery starting so soon? Send me the location, and I'll come to you," Nora said.
Sophia agreed and gave Nora the hospital name and location.
After hanging up, Nora immediately took a cab to the hospital.
Meanwhile, in the hospital, Sophia was already on the operating table.
The doctor was about to give her some anesthesia.
Suddenly, a group of bodyguards wearing sunglasses burst into the operating room.
"Who are you? You can't just barge in here. Get out now!" the doctor shouted.
But the bodyguards ignored him.
Some restrained the medical staff.
The others pulled Sophia off the operating table and took her out of the room.
"Who are you? Let me go!" Sophia screamed, terrified.
But they quickly covered her mouth, silencing her.
Seeing her struggle, the bodyguards lifted her up and carried her out of the hospital, shoving her into a black sedan parked outside.
With a "bang," the car door closed.
Sophia reached for the door handle, but it was locked. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't open it.
"Don't waste your energy. You won't be able to open that door," a cold male voice suddenly said, startling Sophia.
She turned and saw a man sitting next to her.
The car was dimly lit, so she couldn't see his face clearly. He wore a dark blue suit and had an air of cold nobility.
"Who are you?" Sophia asked, her voice trembling.
She tried to recall if she'd ever met him, but nothing came to mind. Why was he kidnapping her?
The man didn't answer. Instead, he pulled out a phone and played a video—the same one Cole had shown at her wedding, accusing her of cheating.
Painful memories flooded back, and Sophia trembled with rage, clenching her fists.
"The woman in the video is you, right?" the man asked.
Sophia's face went pale. "Who are you? What do you want?" she demanded.
Ignoring her, he continued, "I heard you're pregnant?"
Sophia's fists tightened, her chest heaving with anger.
"Give birth to the child. After it's born, I'll take it and give you a hundred million dollars as compensation," he said.
Sophia stared at him in shock. She had a hunch. "The man in the video, is it you?"
He didn't deny it. "Do you want to handle the pregnancy yourself, or should I arrange a place and people to take care of you?"
Sophia was furious. "Did you and Cole conspire to deceive me for seven years?"
The man frowned. "I don't have time for irrelevant matters. Just follow my instructions and make your choice."
Sophia laughed bitterly, her teeth clenched. "You're dreaming! I won't give birth to this bastard. I hate him, and now I hate you too!"
The man finally looked at her, his cold gaze sending shivers down her spine.
"If you want your parents and family to live well, you'll obediently give birth to the child. If you harm this child, I'll make your parents and family accompany him in death," he threatened.
Sophia gasped, her heart filled with both anger and fear. He was threatening her family.
"If you doubt my words, I can show you I mean what I say," he added.
Sophia was furious, tears welling up. Betrayed by Cole and now threatened by a stranger. What had she done to deserve this?
She didn't dare risk her parents' lives. Taking a deep breath, she suppressed her anger. "Even if I want to give birth, the child might not survive. I've been drinking every day. He might already be poisoned."
The man glanced at her and called someone to take her for a full medical exam. Sophia had no strength to resist.
After the checkup, she and the report were sent back to the car. The man looked over the report. "For now, there aren't any major issues. Take good care of yourself and no more drinking."
Sophia pressed her lips together, too angry to speak.
The man handed her a business card. "You have three days to think about it. Call me when you've made up your mind."
Sophia angrily took the card and got out of the car. After it drove away, she glanced at the card and her pupils contracted sharply.
"It's actually him!"
