Chapter 550 Taking the Initiative to Talk to Him

Mortimer spoke again with a probing and cautious expression, "Nora, what exactly did Amara say to you?"

Nora looked up at him.

A few seconds later, she looked away and stood up, saying calmly, "Nothing much. She said I caused her to lose her child, and I felt a bit upset."

Mortimer stared at her for a while, seeing that she didn't get angry or question him, he breathed a slight sigh of relief.

It seemed Amara hadn't said anything detrimental to him, and Nora didn't suspect him either.

He composed himself and said gently, "You didn't intentionally harm her. She wanted to hurt you, and you had to fight back to protect yourself. Her miscarriage was an accident. Don't blame yourself too much."

Nora lowered her eyes and nodded lightly, "Okay, I understand."

She glanced at Amara, who was lying on the ground, and said, "You knocked her out. Take her to the hospital first."

Mortimer said, "I'll arrange for someone to take her to the hospital. I'm more worried about you. I'll stay with you."

Nora pressed her lips together but ultimately said nothing.

She turned and walked to her car, opened the door, and was about to get in when Mortimer came over, grabbed her wrist, and said softly, "You're still not very stable emotionally. It's dangerous to drive. Where are you going? Let me drive you."

Nora withdrew her hand, turned to the passenger seat, and said indifferently, "Take me to your place. I'll pick up Magnus and Soren today."

Mortimer paused, then silently got into the car.

After driving for a while, Mortimer spoke again, "Daxton is still alive, and Sylvie and Amara hold a grudge against you. They could come for revenge at any time and might target Magnus and Soren. It's dangerous to take them away. Why don't you and the kids stay with me? Let me protect you."

Nora said indifferently, "I'll hire bodyguards to protect us."

Mortimer continued to persuade, "It's not necessary to go through all that trouble. You can stay with me, and I'll protect you."

Nora said, "I can't always trouble you. I need to cultivate some people to work for me."

Mortimer opened his mouth to say more, but Nora interrupted him, "Don't persuade me anymore. My mind is made up."

Mortimer sighed lightly and had to temporarily give up, planning to find a way to convince her to move in with him later.

When they arrived at Mortimer's house, Nora took Magnus and Soren into the car, refused Mortimer's offer to drive them home, and drove away with the two children.

Mortimer watched the car's silhouette, his mind heavy with thoughts.

Although Nora hadn't confronted him, her attitude towards him was much more distant than before.

What exactly did Amara say to her?

Mortimer drove to the hospital, intending to personally interrogate Amara to find out what she had told Nora.

Nora didn't take Magnus and Soren back to her own home but drove directly to The Porter Manor.

Edmund saw Nora and couldn't help but wipe his tears. He still felt guilty towards Nora.

Back then, he had helped Isaac hide the incident with Nora's child, making him feel he had wronged her.

Even though the child was back now, he still felt guilty for deceiving Nora and felt ashamed to face her.

Therefore, although he missed Magnus and Soren very much, he hadn't dared to see them or ask Nora to bring them to see him. He only occasionally sent someone to secretly take a few photos to ease his longing.

He didn't expect Nora to take the initiative to bring the children to see him, which made him both excited and surprised.

"Grandpa, I want to leave Magnus and Soren at The Porter Manor for a while. Is that convenient?" Nora asked softly.

It was not safe outside now, with Daxton and Amara being potential threats.

As for Mortimer, she didn't trust him now either.

Until she figured some things out, she wouldn't let the children see Mortimer again.

Hiring bodyguards herself, she couldn't ensure their safety.

So after thinking it over, she decided to bring the children to The Porter Manor and ask Edmund to help look after them.

Although Edmund had deceived her, it was a well-intentioned lie.

She still trusted Edmund.

In her heart, Edmund was always a good person who treated her well.

Edmund quickly nodded, "It's very convenient. I'd love for them to stay at The Porter Manor with me."

"I've been wanting to see you and Magnus and Soren, but I was afraid you'd blame me."

Nora smiled, "Grandpa, you're overthinking. How could I blame you?"

Nora had already talked to Magnus and Soren on the way, and they agreed to stay here.

After giving some simple instructions, Nora said to Magnus and Soren, "Stay here with your great-grandfather for a while. I'll come to get you after I finish my business."

Soren nodded obediently, "Okay, Ms. Foster, don't worry about us. Magnus and I will be good!"

Soren still remembered that Nora had told them not to call her mommy in front of their great-grandfather, even though a long time had passed, she still remembered.

Nora patted the tops of the two children's heads and left The Porter Manor.

She drove to the Porter Group building but didn't go inside to find Isaac. Instead, she waited at the company entrance, using the time to think about some issues.

She waited until 7 PM when most of the company employees had left, and then she saw Isaac walking out of the company.

Nora drove over and honked the horn.

Isaac looked over.

Nora rolled down the window and said, "Get in. We need to talk."

Isaac showed a hint of surprise. He didn't expect Nora to come to him.

After hesitating for a few seconds, he opened the passenger door and got in.

Nora stepped on the gas and drove away.

Neither of them spoke in the car.

Nora drove to a nearby riverside and stopped.

Isaac still didn't speak, not even daring to look at Nora.

He still felt guilty about what happened in the warehouse.

He was afraid that breaking the silence would lead Nora to blame and accuse him.

After a long silence, Nora finally spoke, "Amara came to see me today."

Isaac's body instantly tensed, and even his breathing stopped.

Did Amara go to mock Nora because he canceled their wedding?

Nora said, "Amara told me that Magnus's illness could only be cured with her child's umbilical cord blood. You married her to have her child and use the umbilical cord blood to treat Magnus. Is that true?"

Isaac's body shook, and his eyes showed shock.

How did Amara know that he agreed to marry her for the umbilical cord blood? And why did she tell Nora about it?
