Chapter 122 Deceived Her

Isaac took Nora back to the hospital.

Having examined her, the doctor earnestly advised her to rest well, "Ms. Foster, you had a miscarriage due to a severe abdominal injury. Your uterus has not healed yet, so you should avoid vigorous exercise and emotional agitation. You left the hospital without permission this time, causing bleeding, but fortunately not severe bleeding. "

"If there is severe bleeding again, it could be life-threatening. Even without a risk to life, it can still affect your fertility! In the future, you must be more careful. At least rest in bed for three days to give your body time to heal, do you understand?"

Nora awkwardly tugged at the corner of her mouth. "Thank you, and I'll remember."

The doctor sighed, muttering, "So young, yet the body is so injured," then left the ward.

Isaac walked to the bedside with a stern face, questioning unhappily, "Who told you I went to find Mortimer?"

Nora replied, "I overhear Rhys calling Harold."

Isaac said, "Even if you heard it, it's none of your business!"

Nora lowered her eyes and remained silent.

"Are you mute?" Isaac frowned unhappily.

Nora looked puzzled, thinking, 'Why is Isaac so angry?'

After hesitating for a moment, Nora changed the subject, saying, "Thank you today. If you hadn't shown up at the hotel in time, both Sophia and I might have been in danger."

But mentioning the hotel incident made Isaac's expression even worse.

"You can't even protect yourself, yet you dare to protect others. Do you leave your brain at home?" Isaac scolded.

Nora whispered, "Should I just stand by and watch Sophia get hurt? And besides, Sophia is pregnant."

Isaac was angry and said, "Have you forgotten that you are also pregnant?"

Nora wanted to say that her life and the child in her belly didn't have much time left, so it didn't matter if something happened.

But Sophia was a different story. With her whole life ahead, Nora wouldn't think twice about trading her own life for Sophia's. "Are you mute again?" Isaac pressed impatiently.

Nora sighed. "Whatever I say makes you angry. What do you want me to say?"

Isaac faltered, not knowing what Nora could say to satisfy him.

But seeing Nora's indifferent attitude towards her own life, Isaac inexplicably became angry.

Suppressing his annoyance, Isaac said, "Stay away from Mortimer later. It's best not to have any contact with him. He's a devious person. If you get sold out by him one day, you won't even know!"

Nora lowered her gaze. "I know who treats me well in my heart."

Isaac chuckled, "Do you know? Do you know that Mortimer tampered with the DNA test results?"

Nora hesitated.

Did Isaac already know that Mortimer deliberately falsified the results to make him believe that the child in her belly was Mortimer's?

That was why he was so angry. He went to confront Mortimer and even hit him.

It was all because of this.

Mortimer, on Isaac's turf, was challenging Isaac blatantly by manipulating the doctors under the Porter family's name.

Isaac couldn't help but be furious.

"Do you know?" Isaac narrowed his eyes, his cold gaze penetrating to the bone.

Nora said, "I know the child in my belly is not his."

Isaac clenched his fists tightly, his face turning livid.

So, was Nora deliberately conspiring with Mortimer to deceive him?

"Do you also know that the child in your belly is mine?" Isaac questioned.

Nora paused, looking up at Isaac in astonishment.

What was Isaac talking about?

The child in her belly was his?

It was impossible.

Even if the child wasn't Mortimer's, it couldn't be Isaac's either.

The child should belong to Steve!

Before Nora could respond, Isaac continued to interrogate, "Do you not cherish the child because you know it is mine? Do you deliberately put yourself in danger, knowing you are pregnant, and take the opportunity to miscarry the child?"

Nora finally came to her senses and asked in confusion, "What are you talking about?"

Isaac sneered. "Are you still pretending? Don't tell me you don't know that the child is mine!"

Nora looked puzzled. "It is never yours."

Isaac narrowed his eyes. "Does Mortimer show you the original test results?"

Nora said, "What do the original results mean? Mortimer doesn't alter the first results. It clearly states that the child isn't yours!"

Seeing that she didn't seem to be lying, Isaac's anger subsided a bit.

Nora didn't neglect the child because she thought it was his.

"Why do you think the child is yours?" Nora asked in confusion.

She had already told Isaac before the test that she had been with Steve longer, so the child was more likely to be Steve's.

How could Isaac think that Mortimer had changed the subsequent test results and that the initial results were also fake?

Isaac didn't answer, just coldly staring at Nora.

Nora's heart slowly turned cold, guessing, 'Can it be that Mortimer has deceived me?'

She had asked him at the time if the first results had been altered, but Mortimer had said no.

But what did Isaac's words mean?

Trembling, Nora reached under the pillow for her phone and found Mortimer's number.

Isaac didn't stop her.

The call connected quickly.

There was some noise on the other end, faintly hearing Elder's furious voice while the doctor was speaking.

Mortimer should be at the hospital getting his injuries treated.

Thinking of his injuries, Nora was about to question him, but she couldn't bring herself to do it.

Mortimer had been shot trying to protect her.

Yet she not only didn't care about him but also called to interrogate him, which seemed a bit heartless.

"Is this Nora?" Mortimer's gentle voice, tinged with weakness, came through.

Nora snapped back to reality, asking, "How are your injuries?"

Mortimer chuckled softly, "Just superficial wounds, I'm fine. Don't worry."

Biting her lip, Nora hadn't figured out how to ask Mortimer about the test results yet.

But it seemed like he knew the purpose of her call.

After a moment of silence, Mortimer's elegant voice, with a hint of apology, came through: "I'm sorry, Nora. I lied to you about the DNA test. I also had the results of the first test altered."

Nora's heart clenched fiercely, gripping the phone tightly, asking in a trembling voice, "So, is the child in my belly from Isaac's?"

After a moment of silence, Mortimer said in a deep voice, "Yes."

A sharp pain spreading in her heart, Nora asked bitterly, "Why do you lie to me?"

Mortimer said, "You tell me that regardless of whose child it is, you won't keep it. It would help if you didn't hesitate to tell me a white lie. I'm sorry."

Tears welled up in Nora's eyes. "I can't feel your kindness, but know that you lie to me and deprive me of the right to know the truth!"
