Chapter 205 Nora, Do You Still Love Me?

"You don't gotta be so rough on 'em. If you don't wanna see me, I'm outta here," Isaac mumbled.

He stared into Nora's eyes, hoping to catch a flicker of hesitation.

But nope, all he saw was pure annoyance.

Isaac sighed, dropped his gaze, and started to walk away.

"Hold up!" Nora suddenly called out.

Isaac paused, a spark of hope lighting up his eyes.

'Did she change her mind? Does she want me to stay?' he wondered.

Nora said, "You've been hanging with Magnus and Soren for a week. I can't let you work for free. I'll send you $2,000. Consider it your pay for the week. Take the cash and bounce. Don't come back."

Isaac's hope faded again.

Nora quickly transferred the money to him.

"Alright, it's in your account. You can go now."

Isaac pressed his lips together, said nothing, and turned to leave.

Nora watched him go, her expression cold.

As soon as Isaac was out the door, Nora slumped into a chair, feeling drained.

A sharp pain twisted in her chest, and tears welled up in her eyes.

She felt so miserable, she couldn't even comfort the two kids who were still bawling their eyes out.

She needed someone to comfort her too.

Tears silently streamed down her face.

No matter how much she wiped, they just kept coming.

Through her tear-filled eyes, she glanced at the food tossed in the trash.

Isaac had made that food with love.

When he was cooking, she had gone to the bathroom. Passing by the kitchen, she saw the smile on his face.

Maybe for Isaac, cooking for someone he loved was a kind of joy.

She totally screwed him over.

'Isaac must be feeling awful,' she thought.

Nora bit her lip, walked to the trash can with tears streaming down her face, and started picking up the food to eat.

Suddenly, a hand reached over from behind and grabbed her wrist.

The food she was about to eat fell back into the trash.

Nora turned around and saw Isaac!

He looked at her deeply, saying nothing.

Nora felt a wave of panic, like she'd been caught red-handed.

"I'm hungry," she stammered.

But it was a lame excuse.

Isaac stayed silent.

He pulled her up from the ground.

Then, he led her to her studio.

Her studio was a separate room with good soundproofing. No one would disturb them or hear what they said inside.

Once inside, Isaac let her go and locked the door.

Nora hastily wiped away her tears and quickly composed herself, making her face look cold and disdainful again.

"I told you to get lost, didn't I? Why'd you come back? Got no dignity and gotta cling to me?" Nora spat out.

Isaac looked at her deeply and asked, "Why were you crying?"

Nora stubbornly replied, "I remembered something sad!"

Isaac looked at her deeply again and asked, "Why were you eating food from the trash can?"

Nora continued stubbornly, "I was starving, and the delivery was too slow!"

Isaac smirked, "You really believe your own crap?"

Nora shot back, "Believe it or not, I do!"

Isaac narrowed his eyes and stepped closer.

Nora instinctively backed away, eyeing him warily. "What are you trying to do? I'm warning you, don't do anything stupid!"

Soon, she was cornered.

Isaac placed his hands on the wall behind her, trapping her between his arms, and said with a half-smile, "Nora, quit lying to yourself. You still like me. Seeing me leave, thinking I was really done, made you so sad you cried."

Nora gritted her teeth. "No. Stop flattering yourself!"

Isaac chuckled and continued, "You couldn't stand wasting the food I made, so you tried to sneak it after I left."

Nora denied, "No!"

Isaac pinched her cheek and said with a smirk, "Stop denying it. I used to do the same thing. Your coldness now is exactly how I treated you during our three years of marriage.

"Nora, you still love me!"

Nora's eyes widened in disbelief.

'Isaac picked food from the trash too?' she thought.

When they first got married, she had tried to win Isaac over by learning to cook and making meals for him.

But every time, Isaac would look at the food with disdain and toss it in the trash without a second thought.

She had been heartbroken for a long time because of it.

After being hurt a few times, she finally gave up and never did that again.

She never expected that Isaac had secretly picked up the food and eaten it after she left in sadness.

Nora's heart was in turmoil.

Isaac looked at her deeply and pressed. "Nora, you still love me. Why are you pushing me away and refusing me?"

Nora pressed her lips together, unwilling to admit it.

But if she didn't answer, Isaac would keep asking.

Nora impatiently said, "You're overthinking it. I don't love you at all. It's all in your head!"

Isaac sneered, "Stop denying it. Your actions have already betrayed your words. You say you don't love me, but everything you do shows that you do!"

Nora stayed silent.

Isaac said, "It's okay if you don't want to admit it, but I won't give up on you. No matter how harshly you treat me, I won't give up!"

Nora's mind was in chaos.

She still loved Isaac, but she didn't want him clinging to her, nor did she want him pursuing her.

But now that Isaac had seen through her feelings, if she kept saying she didn't love him, he wouldn't believe it.

Nora gritted her teeth and said harshly, "You wanna know why? Fine, I'll tell you!

"Because I have a boyfriend. And I've done everything with him!"

Isaac's face remained calm, showing no strong reaction.

Nora angrily said, "I said I had sex with another man. Didn't you hear me?"

Isaac said, "I don't care."

Nora interrupted, "But I care! I don't want to taint the relationship I once cherished the most!

"So even if I still love you, even if I can't let go, I can't get back together with you.

"You may not care, but I can't get over it!"
