Chapter 99 She Had No Way Back
Isaac coldly said, "I have a spare key."
Nora, displeased, replied, "Even if you have the key, you still need to knock before entering my room, right?"
Thinking about being seen naked by him again, she felt extremely frustrated.
"I knocked on the door, but you didn't respond, so I used the key to open it myself," Isaac explained calmly.
Then, he said coldly, "It's a good thing I let myself in, otherwise I don't know how you would have mistreated yourself."
"I was just taking a cold shower, how is that mistreating myself?" Nora retorted indignantly, "It's only October, the weather isn't that cold yet, taking a cold shower is normal. You used to take cold showers in winter too!"
"Can you compare yourself to me?" Isaac chuckled at her.
With her current condition, she still wanted to compare herself to him?
Moreover, wasn't it her fault that he used to take cold showers in winter?
Nora wanted to argue back.
Isaac coldly said, "You are pregnant now, you can't be so willful."
Nora lowered her eyelids, covering the sadness in her eyes.
Isaac silently helped her blow-dry her hair.
Nora had long and thick hair, it took nearly forty minutes to dry it completely.
Nora hesitated as she looked at Isaac.
After a moment of hesitation, she asked, "Now that Kalista is pregnant with your child, when do you plan to let me go?"
Isaac asked, "What does Kalista's pregnancy have to do with letting you go?"
Nora said, "My presence here affects Kalista's mood, which in turn affects her pregnancy and is not good for the child in her belly."
Isaac said, "Don't forget, you are also carrying my child. I won't let you go until you give birth."
Nora said, "We are already divorced, this child shouldn't be born."
Nora continued, "But Kalista is different, you intend to marry Kalista, it's normal for her to help you have a child, you should focus on Kalista and her child."
She didn't want to bless Isaac and Kalista.
But, in order to escape, she could only reluctantly push him towards Kalista.
Kalista may not be a good person, but she truly loves Isaac.
Having someone who loves him by his side might not be a bad thing.
Isaac smiled, and said, "Have you forgotten what I told you?
"I'm not asking you to have the child because I love him so much or want him so badly.
"I want you to have him so he can atone for you."
Nora felt heavy-hearted. She had indeed forgotten about it.
During this time, she and Isaac had been getting along relatively well.
He drove her to and from work every day and even cooked for her.
She almost forgot how bad their relationship used to be.
Nora pursed her lips, unable to speak for a moment.
Isaac put down the hairdryer and left the room.
Nora lay weakly on the bed, feeling upset.
Just then, her phone rang.
She picked it up and saw that it was Mortimer calling.
She hung up directly.
But the next second, the phone rang again.
Nora hung up five times in a row before the ringing finally stopped.
Nora didn't hate Mortimer, but there was always some resentment in her heart.
She still blamed Mortimer for not telling her that the drug that framed Isaac half a month ago was exploiting Isaac's feelings for her.
In the past half month, Mortimer had also contacted her, but she had been avoiding him, not wanting to talk to him.
The next day.
In the early morning, Isaac still took Nora to the art gallery.
As soon as Nora opened the shop door, a difficult person came in.
The person called out, "Nora."
Nora turned around and saw a man standing at the door with a gentle aura, his eyes slightly darkened.
"Why are you here?" Nora asked in a deep voice.
Mortimer sighed and said helplessly, "I called you, you didn't answer, I texted you, you didn't reply, so I had to come to your shop to find you."
Nora lowered her eyes, her attitude very cold, and she didn't explain why she didn't answer the phone.
"Are you still blaming me?" Mortimer asked bitterly.
Nora said, "The past is over, let's not bring it up again."
Just the thought that Isaac, out of love for her, mistook Kalista for her that night made her very sad.
And filled with guilt.
Mortimer fell silent for a moment and said, "You once said you didn't plan to have this child, now that Kalista is pregnant with Isaac's child, when do you plan to terminate the pregnancy?"
Nora didn't answer.
She didn't plan to terminate this child.
She wanted to keep the child in her belly, and when she died, she would take him with her.
She couldn't bring herself to end the life of this child.
But she didn't plan to tell Mortimer these things.
Mortimer continued, "Isaac is keeping you around because of the child in your belly. As long as the child is gone, he won't have a reason to keep you by his side."
Nora took a deep breath and said softly, "Thank you for helping me with the past, I will handle the future myself. I still have a business to attend to, so I won't invite you in, please go back."
Mortimer pressed his lips tightly, his eyes growing darker.
Nora was indeed angry with him, she was so distant from him.
This was something that had never happened before.
There was an inexplicable panic in his heart.
If Nora continued to treat him this way in the future, he would never be able to move forward with her, let alone make her like him.
But he didn't dare to be too aggressive, afraid of scaring Nora and making her more distant from him.
He said, "All right, I won't disturb you, I'll come see you when I have time in the future."
Mortimer suppressed his emotions and said gently, "I'll say it again, if you need my help, you can still find me anytime, I will help you unconditionally."
Nora lowered her eyelids and didn't respond.
Mortimer could only leave with a sense of loss.
After taking a few steps, he stopped and turned back to look at Nora.
Mortimer remarked, "Nora, Kalista is already pregnant with Isaac's child, it's a done deal, you and Isaac have no chance anymore, I hope you can think it over sooner, and stop lingering by his side.
"The longer it drags on, the worse it is for both you and Isaac.
"Isaac has finally been able to start a new life, and if you continue to stay by his side, it will only keep him in pain.
"Three years ago, you missed your chance, and Isaac suffered for three more years. I hope you won't continue to make him suffer."
Mortimer knew that Nora might not care about her own feelings.
But when it came to Isaac, she wouldn't remain indifferent.
As long as she felt that staying by Isaac's side was hurting him, she would surely leave him in pain.
Mortimer understood Nora's love for Isaac well enough.
Sure enough, after he said these words, a wave finally stirred in Nora's calm eyes.
She clenched her fists and said in a deep voice, "I know I have no way back, and I won't turn back. I will leave him and let him be with Kalista. But this time, I don't need your help!"
