Chapter 150 Eavesdropping

Isaac left with a cold demeanor after making a harsh statement.

But he had yet to go far before he returned and shoved a check into Nora's hand. "Grandpa Porter asks me to give this to you as compensation for what Grandma Katie did to you."

With that, he left again.

Nora glanced down at the check and counted the zeros.

It were a total of one hundred million dollars.

Nora felt very conflicted.

She casually stuffed the check into her pocket and quickly walked into the store.

"Soren, where are you?" Nora asked.

"Mommy, I'm here!" Soren replied.

Nora immediately followed the voice.

When she saw Soren, she was stunned. "How do you get yourself like this?"

Soren was covered in paint from head to toe, making her completely unrecognizable.

"Mommy, do I look good?" Soren stood on the table and spun around happily.

She had no sense of having done something wrong and was very proud of herself.

Nora rubbed her temples in frustration and sighed helplessly.

"I'll take you to wash up. From now on, don't put paint on yourself, okay? This stuff is toxic. If you accidentally ingest it, you'll get a stomachache," Nora said.

Nora picked Soren up and started lecturing her.

Soren nodded cheerfully. "I know. I only put it on my body, but I won't eat it!"

Nora was speechless.

Suddenly, she noticed a large bag of food on the table and asked, "Do you buy these?"

Soren shook her head. "No, Mommy, you don't let me go out. I've been here the whole time."

Nora was even more puzzled. "Then who brought these?"

'Could it have been Sophia?' Nora guessed.

Soren said, "A man who looks a lot like Magnus brings them for me!"

Nora's face changed.

'A man who looks like Magnus?Isn't that Isaac? Has Isaac actually seen Soren?!' Nora panicked instantly.

She asked urgently, "Did you see that man? Does he see your face? Does he ask you any questions? Did you tell him who your mommy is?"

Soren tilted her head in confusion. "He saw me, and we talked a lot."

"What do you talk about?" Nora asked.

Soren then recounted the entire meeting with Isaac in detail.

Nora listened with alarm.

Isaac had talked to Soren for so long and even bought things for her!

However, he probably didn't see Soren's face.

Although Soren didn't look exactly like Isaac as Magnus did, she did bear some resemblance to him.

Moreover, Soren also looked a bit like her.

If Isaac had seen Soren's face, he would have suspected her identity.

Nora suddenly felt relieved that Soren had mischievously covered her face with paint, preventing Isaac from seeing her clearly.

If Isaac discovered two children, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Nora held Soren tightly as if she were a precious treasure regained.

"Mommy, you're hugging me too tight," Soren protested softly.

"Sorry, I lose my composure." Nora snapped back to reality and quickly loosened her grip.

She carried Soren to the bathroom to wash off the paint.

There were no clothes in the store that Soren could wear.

Nora had to take her to the lounge, place her on the bed, and wrap her in a blanket.

"Wait here for a bit. I'll go out and buy you some clothes," Nora said.

"Okay!" Soren replied.

Soren was very obedient.

Nora melted her heart at her sweet voice.

She ruffled Soren's hair and walked out of the lounge. To prevent Soren from running around or anyone from coming in, Nora specifically locked the door to the lounge.

Then Nora went to the nearby shops to buy clothes and messaged Mortimer, informing him that Isaac had left.

When Nora returned with the clothes, Mortimer had just arrived with Magnus.

After they entered the store, Nora closed the door to prevent Isaac from coming back.

She took the clothes to the lounge, helped Soren get dressed, and then brought her back to the front.

Soren immediately started happily opening the food. "Magnus, a kind sir bought me lots of food. Let's eat together!"

Mortimer looked at Nora and asked in a low voice, "Does Isaac buy these?"

Nora nodded.

Mortimer's expression changed slightly. "Has Isaac seen Soren? Then he..."

Nora said, "Soren is playing around and covering herself in paint, including her face. Isaac doesn't see her clearly and probably thinks she is a customer's child."

Mortimer quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

Luckily, Isaac didn't discover the children. Otherwise, he would have been even more relentless with Nora and wouldn't have let her or the children go.

Nora said, "Come with me. I have something to ask you."

She turned to walk towards the front.

Mortimer silently followed her.

When they reached the display area, Nora stopped in front of a large painting.

Nora turned to Mortimer, looking displeased. "Why do you bring Magnus and Soren to Aridonia without telling me?"

Mortimer's eyes flickered.

Recently, Nora had been growing more distant from him and closer to Isaac. Plus, Isaac had framed him for harming Nora.

To mend his relationship with Nora, he had no choice but to bring Magnus and Soren back.

With Magnus and Soren as a bond, Nora couldn't distance herself from Mortimer.

Because Nora still needed his help to hide the two children.

But Mortimer couldn't tell Nora the real reason.

Mortimer composed himself and said, "You haven't been in contact with them lately. They've been clamoring to see you every day. Not long ago, they even tried to sneak out of the house to find you. I am worried they might run off again and get into trouble, so I bring them to see you."

Nora's heart tightened, and a wave of guilt spread through her.

She hadn't expected the two children to run away from home to find her.

She really wasn't a good mother.

Nora pressed her lips together and still sounded reproachful, "Even so, you shouldn't have brought them here without telling me. It would help if you had discussed it with me. Look, it's only the first day that they almost got discovered by Isaac."

"I'm sorry," Mortimer apologized sincerely. "I don't think it through. When I see how much Magnus and Soren miss you during our video calls, I feel sorry for them and bring them over without considering everything."

Nora was still angry.

Other matters aside, she couldn't take the children's issues lightly.

"Although Isaac doesn't discover them today, if they stay in Aridonia, they will be exposed sooner or later. Even if they don't run into Isaac, they could meet someone who knows him. There's always a risk of exposure," Nora said.

'After all, both Magnus and Soren bear some resemblance to Isaac. Especially Magnus, who looks almost identical to Isaac,' Nora thought and felt uneasy.

She said urgently, "You need to send them back immediately. I'll make sure to contact them every day from now on!"

"Liar!" A childish voice suddenly rang out angrily.
