Chapter 221 Investigating Whether Nora Is Really Dead

Just as Griffin was about to spill the beans on who Nora was with, Alaric rolled up with his crew.

Alaric stomped on Griffin's phone, smashing it to bits.

The call cut off, just like that.

"Take him away!" Alaric barked.

Two bodyguards grabbed Griffin and dragged him off.

Griffin tried to fight back.

But every time he did, Alaric would deck him, no mercy.

Griffin was already banged up, and after a few hits, he blacked out.

Over in Aridonia, Wesley was chilling at Isaac's villa.

He got a call from Griffin, who said he’d spotted Nora.

But halfway through, the call just died.

"What the hell is Griffin doing? Why'd he hang up like that?" Wesley grumbled, frowning as he tried calling Griffin back.

But no matter how many times he tried, he couldn't get through.

Wesley's heart sank. 'What's up with Griffin? Did something go down?'

He remembered Griffin's voice had sounded off.

He'd been too shocked by what Griffin said to notice at first.

Now, thinking back, he realized something might've happened to Griffin!

Wesley quickly hit up the company in Drakonia, telling them to find Griffin.

If they couldn't, they were to call the cops ASAP.

After that, Wesley rushed upstairs to find Isaac.

Since Nora's death, Isaac had been hitting the bottle hard every day.

At first, he’d go out drinking with friends.

Until one day, after getting wasted, he got into it with a hotel guest. During the fight, he got a head injury and woke up blind.

Since then, Isaac hadn't left the house, locking himself in his room every day.

But even at home, he kept drowning in booze.

When Wesley opened the door, the smell of alcohol hit him hard.

Empty bottles were everywhere.

Isaac lay among them, looking totally wrecked.

Wesley couldn't help but tear up seeing the once lively Isaac now so down and out.

He walked in and started cleaning up the bottles.

Then, he helped Isaac to the couch.

"Mr. Porter, you can't keep drinking. Rhys said you need to take care of yourself so he can treat you and get your sight back. If you keep trashing your body with booze, Rhys won't be able to help, and you'll stay blind. The longer you wait, the worse your chances!"

Isaac shoved Wesley away, shouting, "Get out, leave me alone!"

Isaac's voice was all raspy, like he'd been screaming for days.

"Mr. Porter..."

Isaac laughed bitterly, "Nora's gone. What’s the point of seeing if she's not here? I don't want to see a world without her!"

Wesley hesitated, then decided to drop the bombshell.

"Mr. Porter, I just got a call from Griffin. He said he saw Nora. He said Nora's still alive."

Isaac froze.

But then Isaac laughed bitterly, "I know you're trying to make me feel better, but don't lie. I saw Nora die right in front of me. I buried her myself. She can't be alive."

Wesley insisted, "I'm not lying. Griffin really called and told me. At first, I thought he was mistaken or something, but he said he was less than two meters away from Nora and saw her clear as day. He even talked to her. But before Griffin could finish, the call got cut off. And no matter how many times I tried calling back, I couldn't get through."

Isaac froze again. Wesley didn't sound like he was making this up.

Could Nora really be alive?

But how? He had seen Nora stab herself in the heart, seen her body after they failed to save her. He had buried her ashes in the Porter Family's cemetery himself.

Nora couldn't be alive.

But he knew Wesley and Griffin too well; they wouldn't mess with him like this.

"Where did Griffin see Nora?" Isaac asked, his voice shaking.

Wesley replied, "Griffin didn't get the chance to say before the call cut off, and I couldn't reach him afterward. But since he went to Drakonia three days ago for a company inspection, he's still in Drakonia, so I can tell he must have seen Nora there!"

Drakonia?

Isaac's face darkened.

Wesley said softly, "Mr. Porter, Drakonia is where Mortimer's grandfather is king. Mortimer was made a prince of Drakonia. It's Mortimer's turf. If Nora is really alive, the most likely place she'd go is Drakonia! And Mortimer went to Drakonia half a month ago."

At first, Wesley thought it was impossible for Nora to be alive. But the more he thought about it, the more it made sense.

Wesley continued, "Mr. Porter, we all saw Nora's body after the failed resuscitation, but none of us saw her body being cremated. That was all Mortimer's doing. Who knows whose body he burned? Mortimer was able to mess with Nora's paternity test results right under your nose. Hiding her death wouldn't be a problem for him!"

Isaac clenched his fists, his dead heart starting to beat wildly.

Could Nora really be alive?

He'd rather have been tricked by Mortimer if it meant Nora was still alive!

Isaac said, "Interrogate the hospital director immediately. Find out if Nora really died that night! And contact Rhys. Tell him to come see me right away. I have questions for him!"

Wesley immediately replied, "Yes, sir. I'll get on it right away!"

Soon, Rhys arrived at the villa.

The smell of alcohol still hung in the air. As soon as Rhys walked in, he pinched his nose in disgust.

He grumbled, "I told you to take care of yourself. Once you're healthy, I'll do the surgery to remove the blood clot pressing on your optic nerve, and you'll get your sight back. But you keep drinking, ignoring my advice. Do you want to stay blind forever?"

Rhys was getting angrier, wanting to punch this stubborn guy.

Isaac ignored Rhys's scolding and asked, "Can you identify someone from their ashes?"
