Chapter 159 Compared to Danger, I'm More Afraid of Losing You
Isaac said, "That's your business. It doesn't affect my love for you."
With a twitch at the mouth, Nora found herself speechless. Her body was very weak, and she did not have the energy to think about those issues.
When she lay on Isaac's back, her consciousness became a bit blurry.
She didn't know how long it had been when she heard a voice calling in her ear.
"Nora, wake up," Isaac called out.
Nora groaned and opened her eyes drowsily. She looked around and found herself lying in a cave, with a fire burning in front of her.
Isaac was squatting beside her.
Upon closer inspection, she realized that his clothes were all off, his solid muscles completely exposed to the air.
Nora instantly turned red.
She quickly averted her gaze, not daring to look at him.
"Why aren't you wearing clothes?" Nora asked.
Not only clothes, but he wasn't even wearing pants.
Isaac smirked. "It's not like you haven't seen it before. Why are you so shy?"
Nora twitched his mouth. He directly ignored his words, changing the topic, "It is raining so heavily outside. Where do you find the wood to make a fire?"
Isaac said, "These woods are from inside the cave. Sit up. I'll help you take off your clothes and dry them."
As Isaac spoke, he helped her sit up and started to undress her.
"No." Nora hurriedly pushed him away, holding onto her clothes tightly.
Isaac said sternly, "You're already running a fever and have injuries. If you keep wearing wet clothes, your fever will get worse, and your wounds will get infected."
Nora could feel her fever.
Since waking up, she had been groggy. Her head was swollen and painful. Even the slightest movement made everything around her spin.
In this condition, wearing wet clothes would indeed worsen her illness.
But she still couldn't bring herself to strip naked in front of Isaac.
"How about you lend me your clothes once they're dry, and then I'll take mine off?" Nora said softly.
Isaac said, "No, the longer you wait, the worse your condition will get."
With that, he reached out to take off her clothes.
Nora tried to stop him.
But Nora's strength was no match for Isaac's. Now she was feeling unwell, making it even more impossible to stop him.
Soon, Isaac had removed all of Nora's clothes.
Isaac took her clothes and walked out of the cave. Rinsing them with rainwater, he then brought them back to dry by the fire.
Nora was flushed with embarrassment, her hands holding herself tightly.
After setting up the clothes, Isaac walked towards her.
Nora tensed up completely. "What are you going to do?"
In silence, Isaac bent down to pick her up from the ground.
"Let go of me." Nora began to struggle in panic.
Isaac held her tightly to prevent her from falling to the ground.
"Don't move. I'm not going to do anything to you. I'm just taking you closer to the fire to warm up," Isaac said.
Nora felt utterly embarrassed.
Isaac had always been thinking about her, but she had been treating him like a threat.
Nora suddenly felt a pang of guilt.
Isaac quickly carried her to the fire and sat down. But he didn't let go of her, still holding her in his arms, letting her sit on his lap.
Nora moved slightly. "Let me down."
Isaac still didn't let go, saying calmly, "You're not wearing clothes. The ground is dirty, and the rocks are hard and cold. It's better to sit on my lap."
Nora's face grew hotter, her heart beating faster, her mind in a daze.
"Close your eyes and rest. Sweating should help bring your fever down," Isaac said softly.
Nora's head was spinning, but she didn't want to sleep at all.
She lay stiffly in Isaac's arms, looking up at his chiseled jawline in the firelight. She felt the heat from her skin, putting her whole heart in turmoil!
When Isaac suddenly lowered his gaze, meeting her clear ones, Nora's heart skipped a beat.
"What's wrong?" Isaac asked worriedly, "Are you feeling very uncomfortable?"
At a loss for words, Nora looked at him with complex eyes.
After a long pause, Nora slowly spoke, asking softly, "Do you still like me? Or are you just saying those things to make me fall for you so you can take revenge?"
Isaac pinched her cheek, smirking, "Looks like you're really burning up. If I really want revenge, would I risk my life jumping down from where you fall to find you?"
Nora contracted her pupils sharply, looking at him in disbelief. "Do you jump down from where I fall to find me?"
'Isn't he afraid of dying?' Nora thought.
Nora's heartbeat instantly lost its rhythm, her mind in chaos.
Isaac said, "I don't jump directly but have a parachute."
Nora's shock hadn't diminished in the slightest.
In such a place, even with a parachute, it was extremely dangerous.
"Why do you jump down? Aren't you afraid of the danger?" Nora asked, her voice trembling.
Even though Isaac was safe in front of her now, she still felt a wave of fear.
Isaac said seriously, "Compared to danger, I am more afraid of losing you."
Nora was completely out of her mind, staring at him. Emotions surged inside her, but she couldn't say a word.
Now, she completely believed that Isaac's confession to her yesterday was sincere and not for revenge.
If Isaac didn't still love her, he wouldn't have risked his life to jump off a cliff to find her.
Isaac suddenly smiled and said, "Don't feel too pressured. I did all this willingly. I won't ask you to repay me."
Nora was touched, tears welling up in her eyes.
Isaac risked his life to save her, yet he was comforting her, telling her not to feel pressured.
Nora thought, 'What do I do to deserve such a sacrifice from him?'
Nora suddenly reached out, wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed his lips.
She kissed him passionately as if trying to express her emotions through the kiss.
Isaac's body stiffened suddenly.
Though lacking in skill, her kiss easily ignited his desire.
Isaac's body temperature rose rapidly, his breathing became heavy, and a certain desire burned quickly.
Isaac grabbed Nora's slender waist with one hand and her shoulder with the other, forcibly pushing her away.
Nora looked at him with dazed eyes, seemingly not understanding why he pushed her away.
Isaac took a deep breath, suppressing his desire. His voice was low and a bit hoarse, "With your fever, you're not thinking clearly. What you do now might not be genuine, but fever-induced confusion. I don't want to see you regret it when you're sober. Wait until your fever is gone."
