Chapter 487: He Decided to Let Her Have This Baby
Isaac's aura was terrifying, making Amara's face pale and her body tremble uncontrollably. She couldn't help but protect her slightly protruding belly with her hands.
Although Mortimer had told her that if she came to Isaac now and let him know that she was the one who had plotted against him on the cruise, Isaac would definitely not harm her.
But when facing Isaac, feeling the dangerous aura emanating from him, she couldn't control her inner fear.
At the same time, she found Isaac even more charming.
Only such a powerful Isaac was worth her bearing children for, giving up the glamorous world outside, and spending her life with him.
Amara swallowed and nodded, saying, "Yes, it was me who spent a passionate night with you on the cruise!"
"But it wasn't me who drugged you."
"I was attending the Maritime Commerce Convention on behalf of the Hansen family. After discovering you, I kept an eye on you. When I saw you being drugged, I got anxious and followed you."
"I didn't expect you to lose your mind and drag me into the room to make love."
"But I genuinely like you and didn't want to use that to force you to take responsibility, so I left in a hurry without pursuing you."
"But I didn't expect that from that one time, I got pregnant with your baby. I couldn't bear to abort the baby; he is innocent."
"I originally planned to give birth to him and raise him alone, but after much hesitation, I felt that as the baby's father, you had the right to know of his existence, so I came back to find you today."
Her words were incoherent, first saying she wanted him to take responsibility, then saying she didn't.
Isaac looked coldly at her slightly protruding belly, lost in thought.
Amara's eyes immediately reddened with grievance.
"Isaac, I know you might not like me very much, but you once reminded me to be wary of my sister, which saved my life. You couldn't bear to see me harmed, which means you don't dislike me."
"Can you give me a chance to stay by your side?"
"Can we give the baby a complete family?"
Isaac asked coldly, "Are you sure the baby you're carrying is mine?"
Amara said excitedly, "I guarantee, this baby is definitely yours!"
"Since you saved me, I've only had you in my heart and haven't been with any other man. This baby is definitely yours!"
Isaac lowered his eyes, not knowing what he was thinking.
After a moment, he took out his phone from his pocket, quickly typed a message, and sent it to Rhys.
[If Magnus's siblings are not from the same mother, only the same father, can the umbilical cord blood still be useful?]
Isaac looked at the message he sent, a hint of self-mockery in his eyes.
When Amara said she was pregnant with his baby, his first thought wasn't to abort the baby but to think that maybe Magnus could be saved.
But he also knew that as long as this baby was born, he and Nora could no longer maintain their current harmonious relationship.
Even if Nora could forgive him for having non-consensual sex with someone else, having a baby would change everything.
But he had no choice.
He couldn't take away Magnus's only shot at survival.
He was a father; he couldn't ignore Magnus's life for his own happiness.
It was dinner time, and Rhys was eating, not in the lab, so he saw Isaac's message immediately and replied right away.
Rhys: [It's almost the same. Even with full siblings, the success rate of matching umbilical cord blood isn't 100%, it's all about probability. The success rate of matching umbilical cord blood between half-siblings isn't much different.]
Isaac gripped his phone tightly.
It was not 100% guaranteed to match!
That meant even if he let Amara have the baby, it might not have saved Magnus, but the rift between him and Nora would definitely have formed.
Rhys: [Why are you asking this?]
Isaac: [Nothing, just asking.]
[If Nora asks you about Magnus's condition, don't tell her the truth. I lied to her, saying you found a treatment method but need time to research the cure.]
Rhys: [You can't hide this for long, Nora will find out sooner or later.]
Isaac: [Hide it for now, we'll deal with it later.]
"Isaac, do you acknowledge the baby in my belly or not? Say something!"
Amara anxiously asked when she saw Isaac looking at his phone without saying anything for a long time.
Mortimer had clearly said that Isaac would definitely let her keep the baby.
But why was Isaac still so indifferent?
Isaac put away his phone and looked at Amara again.
He squinted his eyes, coldly scrutinizing her for a moment, then his gaze fell on her belly.
"Four months, you can do an amniocentesis to test the DNA, right?"
Amara's eyes widened, and she said sadly, "Do you still doubt me?"
Isaac asked coldly, "If you're so sure, what are you afraid of?"
Amara replied aggrievedly, "I'm worried about hurting the baby. Can we wait until the baby is born to test the DNA?"
"The baby is just under four months now, not even four months yet. Doing an amniocentesis now is very dangerous; a slight mistake and the baby won't survive."
Isaac pressed his lips tightly, seemingly in thought.
Because Nora had been pregnant, he had done his homework on this.
Doctors usually recommended amniocentesis after six months into the pregnancy because it was safer.
At less than four months, the fetus was still fragile, and it was definitely not the right time for that.
Now this baby was tied to Magnus's life and death—his only shot at hope. He couldn't afford to take any risks.
If this baby was lost, even if he didn't use contraceptives in the future, he couldn't have another baby within six months.
The baby in Amara's belly was Magnus's only hope.
He couldn't give up this only hope.
Isaac collected his thoughts and said in a deep voice, "Get in the car."
Amara was overjoyed and immediately walked to the passenger seat, wanting to sit in the front.
But Isaac didn't unlock the door.
He said coldly, "Sit in the back."
Amara pouted unhappily, "No, I want to sit next to you."
"Besides, sitting in the back makes you look like my driver."
Isaac just looked at her coldly.
Amara felt a chill under his gaze, silently retracted her pout, and obediently walked to the back door.
Only then did Isaac unlock the car door.
Amara got in the car, her eyes constantly admiring Isaac's back, her heart racing.
Isaac didn't drive her away but let her get in the car. Did this mean he acknowledges her and was willing to take responsibility?
It seemed Mortimer didn't lie to her.
She was very glad she listened to Mortimer.
