Chapter 416: Magnus Hates Her

After thinking for a moment, Nora decided to step out.

She knew very well that she couldn't bear to see Magnus suffer even a little. Even if the doctor's actions were even slightly rough, she would feel heartache for her child.

If she made a fuss, it would also affect the doctor.

For everyone's sake, she ultimately chose to go out.

"Magnus, let the doctor check you first. Mommy will be right outside the door and will come in to accompany you later. Don't be afraid, Mommy won't abandon you," Nora gently touched Magnus's forehead.

Reluctantly, Nora stood up straight and turned to leave the room.

Mortimer followed her to the door of the room.

While waiting, Nora couldn't help but ask Mortimer, "When did you find out that Magnus woke up? How did he wake up?"

Mortimer replied, "When you were settling Sophia, I came alone to visit Magnus."

"When I arrived, Magnus hadn't woken up yet. I spoke to him by his ear, telling him that you and I missed him so much, urging him to wake up soon."

"Unexpectedly, as soon as I finished speaking, he opened his eyes."

"When he saw me, he became very emotional. It must have been because he hadn't seen me for a long time."

Mortimer smiled, "Magnus just happened to wake up when I was visiting him. It wasn't my doing. The biggest credit goes to Rhys. Thanks to his excellent medical skills, Magnus woke up so quickly."

Nora felt a myriad of emotions, "Magnus has always liked you and relied on you. It's possible that he woke up because he heard your voice."

"I know Rhys deserves a lot of credit, but so do you."

"Rhys told me that having a positive mindset can really affect a person's body, sometimes even more than medication."

"When I went back, I took some time to look up the effects of a positive mindset on healing, as Rhys mentioned."

"So I think Magnus waking up has a lot to do with you talking to him by his ear, making him feel happy and breaking through his physical limits to wake up."

"Mortimer, thank you."

"You've helped me a lot over the years, and I don't know how to repay you."

Nora's attitude was sincere.

She was filled with gratitude towards Mortimer.

Previously, because of the incident where Magnus and Soren were sold to the mountains, she had a significant rift with Mortimer.

But now, seeing Mortimer wake Magnus from his coma, she was filled with gratitude towards him again.

If it weren't for Mortimer's gentle call, making Magnus feel happy, he wouldn't have woken up so quickly.

Mortimer chuckled lightly, "I've told you many times, there's no need for thanks between us."

"As long as you treat me as a good friend like before, I'll be very happy."

Nora smiled and spoke seriously, "You will always be my good friend!"

Mortimer smiled and extended his hand childishly, saying, "Then let's make a pact to be lifelong friends. No matter what happens in the future, we must not have any rifts or distance between us."

"Okay!" Nora smiled and extended her hand to make the promise.

Mortimer's smile deepened.

At this moment, the door to the room opened.

The assistant doctor had finished a simple check-up on Magnus.

Nora withdrew her hand and anxiously asked the assistant doctor, "Is the check-up done? How is Magnus's condition?"

The assistant doctor, full of excitement, "I did a physical examination. There's good news. Although his body can't move, he still has sensation, which means he has the potential to recover and won't be paralyzed!"

Nora's eyes widened with excitement, tears welling up.

"That's great! He's so young. What would he do if he were paralyzed? It's a relief that he can recover!"

The assistant doctor continued, "It's still uncertain if he can fully recover, but having sensation is very good news. I'll contact Rhys to have him come over personally. Once he's here, we'll arrange for further examinations. Rhys will provide a more accurate assessment."

"Okay!" Nora nodded excitedly.

Even though the assistant doctor kept reminding her not to get her hopes up too high to avoid future disappointment, she couldn't hide her excitement.

Magnus waking up had already given her a huge surprise.

"By the way, his emotions are a bit unstable. Be careful not to agitate him when you go in," the assistant doctor added.

Nora nodded, "Okay, I'll be careful."

The assistant doctor took out his phone and walked towards the office.

Nora and Mortimer entered the room together.

Nora sat by the bed, gently holding Barrett's small hand, choking up, "Magnus, you finally woke up. Mommy is so happy. You will get better soon. Mommy will protect you and not let you get hurt again."

Barrett could only move his eyes. His gaze looked uneasy. After glancing at Nora, he looked at Mortimer standing behind her.

Nora noticed his gaze and asked, "Do you miss Mortimer? How about I let Mortimer stay and keep you company? It's important for you to stay upbeat; it'll really help your recovery."

Nora quickly stood up and made room for Mortimer, "Mortimer, Magnus likes you. Please talk to him and encourage him."

Mortimer chuckled, "Okay, I'll cheer Magnus on and help him recover quickly."

Nora smiled gratefully at him.

Barrett's emotions became more agitated. His eyes were fixed on Nora, filled with bloodshot veins and tears.

Nora panicked and anxiously asked, "Magnus, what's wrong? Why are you so agitated and crying? Are you feeling unwell?"

Seeing Barrett's tears, Nora couldn't help but want to cry too.

She was at a loss and wanted to find the assistant doctor to check on Barrett again.

Mortimer grabbed Nora's wrist and said gently, "The doctor just checked him. There's nothing wrong with his body. His agitation is probably not due to physical reasons."

"Then what is it?" Nora asked urgently.

Mortimer pursed his lips, "He might have some resentment towards you, which is why he's so agitated when he sees you."

Nora's body stiffened, a pained look crossing her face, and her heart ached.

Magnus actually resented her.

Just now, Magnus's gaze at her was indeed very agitated, his eyes even bloodshot. Mortimer was right; it was her that made Magnus so agitated.

Magnus's resentment was understandable.

She had promised Magnus before that she would protect him, but this time, Magnus was seriously injured right in front of her. It was normal for Magnus to resent her.

Suppressing her inner pain, Nora forced a bitter smile, "I'll leave for now. Please stay with Magnus for me. Thank you."
