Chapter 380 Is She Really That Bad?
Nora couldn't help but clench her fists tightly upon hearing this.
Even if Isaac didn't intentionally lose Soren, he was still negligent in taking care of her, and that was a fact.
When he took Soren outside, he should have ensured that Soren never left his sight.
Isaac's lack of attention allowed Soren to be kidnapped by traffickers.
The suffering Soren endured was partly Isaac's fault.
"Nora, you look upset. Did I say something wrong?" Mortimer apologized, "I'm sorry, I apologize. Please don't be angry."
Nora shook her head, "It's not your fault, it's mine. I shouldn't have trusted him. It's my fault that Soren got hurt."
She blamed herself for being too naive and believing Isaac's lies.
No matter how sweetly Isaac spoke, he always thought Soren and Magnus were Mortimer's children. He could never treat them as his own. It was already good enough that he didn't try to get rid of them.
Isaac's negligence towards Soren was foreseeable.
She blamed herself for being foolish enough to entrust the children's safety to him.
Mortimer's eyes flickered as he tried to comfort her, "Don't blame yourself too much. Soren's injury has nothing to do with you."
"And don't blame Isaac either. Maybe he had his reasons for letting Soren out of his sight."
Nora sneered, "Don't think too highly of him. If he really wanted to take good care of Soren, even if he had something urgent, he could have arranged for someone to protect her."
"He just didn't care enough. There aren't that many hidden reasons."
Mortimer's eyes flickered slightly, and he said no more.
Nora was very agitated.
Thinking about how Isaac caused Soren's injury and now was being ambiguous with other women, her resentment towards Isaac reached its peak.
She took a deep breath, suppressed her anger, and said to Mortimer, "Come with me. I'll take you to see Soren."
Mortimer nodded.
Nora led him for a while and arrived at the courtyard where Soren was.
Soren had just undergone surgery yesterday and needed about seven days of rest. It was only the second day, and she couldn't get out of bed, only lying there.
Mortimer walked into the ward and saw Soren lying on the bed with bandages wrapped around her head. His face was full of heartache.
"How did it come to this? She's so young to suffer like this. It's too pitiful."
Mortimer walked to the bedside and gently touched Soren's cheek.
Nora also felt heartbroken. She wished she could take Soren's place and endure the pain for her.
Unfortunately, she couldn't. She could only watch as Soren endured all this pain and suffering with strength.
Her resentment towards Isaac deepened even more.
Bastard!
He caused Soren so much pain, yet he didn't stay to take care of her and went out to find other women.
He he shouldn't even think about reuniting with the childre for the rest of his life!
He didn't deserve to be Soren's father!
He wasn't even worse than Mortimer, the godfather.
Soren was sleeping, so after letting Mortimer take a look at her, Nora led him out of the ward.
When they returned to the previous courtyard, Magnus had already finished his class.
"Uncle Mortimer?"
Magnus's eyes lit up when he saw Mortimer. He excitedly ran over and hugged him, "Uncle Mortimer, I missed you so much. You finally came to see me. Can you stay and not leave?"
Mortimer smiled, "Sure, as long as your mommy doesn't mind, I'll stay with you."
Magnus looked at Nora eagerly, "Mommy, don't make Uncle Mortimer leave. Let him stay with us, okay?"
Nora frowned, "Mortimer has work to do. He can't stay with you. When he has time in the future, he can come to see you again."
Magnus pouted unhappily.
Mortimer chuckled, "I have time. There's not much going on at the company recently, so I don't need to be there every day. I can stay with you."
Magnus's eyes lit up, "Mommy, did you hear that? Uncle Mortimer said he has time. You can't make him leave!"
Magnus, afraid that Nora would refuse, didn't wait for her to speak. He pulled Mortimer into the courtyard.
"Uncle Mortimer, come with me. Let's hide so Mommy can't find us, and she won't be able to make you leave!"
Nora remained silent.
Was she really that bad?
It made her seem like an unreasonable witch.
In the end, Nora agreed to let Mortimer stay.
At night, Magnus insisted on sleeping with Mortimer.
After Isaac and Rhys left the manor, they went to Minnalora overnight.
Magnus's condition had stabilized, and it was time for the first attempt at repair.
However, when Rhys was preparing to arrange the surgery for Magnus, Sylvie stopped them and wouldn't let them proceed.
Isaac found Sylvie and questioned her sternly, "We agreed on the terms. I date your daughter, and you let my people treat my son. Now you're stopping the surgery. Are you going back on your word?"
Sylvie smiled, "When did I go back on my word? Didn't I let your son receive treatment?"
"But I never said that agreeing to one request would mean continuous treatment."
"You agreed to one request, and I allowed one treatment. That's fair."
Isaac's face darkened instantly.
Sylvie, unfazed, continued, "We're all business people. We don't do unprofitable deals."
"I let my daughter date you, and you lose nothing. But for me, it's different. I let your son receive treatment, and you gain more benefits than I do. One shouldn't be too greedy."
Isaac suppressed his anger and asked, "What do you want?"
Sylvie didn't hesitate and directly stated her demand, "Let my daughter move in with you. You two can develop your relationship properly, and I'll agree to the second treatment."
Isaac's eyes narrowed dangerously, and a chill emanated from him.
Sylvie said, "Living with my daughter isn't a loss for you. If I were you, I wouldn't refuse this proposal."
Isaac's face was ice-cold.
Sylvie, with a faint smile, said, "Isaac, you need to learn to be content. I've been lenient enough with you. If you don't want to agree, and I don't see your sincerity, then there's no need for this deal."
"After all, if you show no sincerity, I see no hope. I'm afraid you'll turn your back on me once your son is cured. I don't want to waste my efforts."
Isaac coldly said, "Prepare for the surgery!"
He had agreed.
Sylvie's lips curled in satisfaction, "That's more like it. You and my daughter are going to get married in the future. The sooner you live together and adjust to each other's habits, the better it will be for both of you."
"I'll have Amara pack her things. When you return, she'll go with you."
