Chapter 446: Stuff the Dirty Pants into His Mouth
After two months of rest and rehab, Magnus could now get out of bed and walk on his own.
However, he still couldn't stand or walk for long periods; his back would hurt if he stood too long.
Rhys couldn't guarantee that Magnus's back pain would disappear entirely.
He only said that once Magnus fully recovered, the situation would improve, and he wouldn't be in pain after just half an hour of standing.
Soren's hearing had completely recovered.
A month ago, when Magnus could walk on his own, Nora had arranged for them to meet.
She had Soren accompany Magnus during his rehab to make it less tedious for him.
Soren chattered away like a little bird in front of Magnus.
Although she was always encouraging him, Magnus found it annoying and often showed a cold face.
Soren was very hurt by his cold attitude, but the next day, she would be full of energy and go to accompany him again.
It was as if she had no memory; a night's sleep seemed to wipe away the grievances from the day before.
Nora felt very sorry for Soren and privately told her that if she felt wronged, she didn't have to stay by Magnus's side all day. Just seeing him every day would be enough.
Soren earnestly told her, "Mommy, you can't do that. Magnus is hurt, and his body must be in a lot of pain, which makes him grumpy. We need to understand Magnus and not avoid him, or he will be very sad."
"Besides, Magnus got hurt protecting me. I don't blame him for scolding me!"
Soren believed that Magnus's injuries were from the time they were kidnapped and that he had gotten hurt protecting her.
Even though Nora and Isaac had explained to her that Magnus's injuries had nothing to do with her and that she shouldn't feel guilty, she stubbornly believed it was her fault and thought they were lying to her.
"You're such a good girl. Mommy needs to learn from you," Nora said with a smile, patting Soren's little head. "But I'm not asking you to avoid Magnus; I just don't want you to feel wronged."
"Remember, Magnus's injuries have nothing to do with you. You can care for him, but don't wrong yourself."
Soren nodded cheerfully, "I'm not feeling wronged. Seeing Magnus makes me happy, not wronged at all!"
After they were kidnapped, the traffickers beat and scolded them. Magnus always held her in his arms to protect her from the beatings.
The traffickers, afraid their cries would attract attention, tried to poison them to silence them.
Magnus, when the traffickers weren't looking, drank the poison meant for her.
Magnus was so good to her that she would never blame him for anything.
Nora sighed silently.
She hoped that once Magnus healed, his mood would improve and he would start treating Soren better.
They used to have such a good relationship. Even though Magnus and Soren were the same age, he always pampered her and prioritized her in everything.
But now, Magnus's attitude towards Soren had completely changed.
No matter how hard she thought, she couldn't figure out where things had gone wrong.
"Mommy," Soren suddenly hugged Nora's leg and asked in a sweet childlike voice, "When can we leave here and go back to the city?"
Nora snapped out of her thoughts, looked down at Soren,, "Don't you like it here?"
Soren replied, "I do, but I like where we used to live even more. I want to go to school, play with my friends, go to the amusement park, and play in the streets."
This place was nice, with plenty of entertainment, but staying too long could get boring.
Moreover, the people around her were always the same few.
Children were naturally curious and eager to learn. Living in one place and seeing the same people every day could get boring over time.
Nora thought for a moment. Magnus's condition had improved a lot. He could now walk on his own. They could go back to the city and continue his rehab at home; there was no need to stay here.
"I'll ask Magnus. If he wants to go back, we'll go together. If he doesn't, we'll wait another month, okay? In another month, he should be fully healed."
Soren nodded happily.
Nora went to ask Magnus if he wanted to go back to the city.
Magnus's eyes lit up a bit, "Can we live with Daddy when we go back?"
Nora replied, "We can't live with him, but we can see him often. If you want, you can see him every day."
Magnus immediately nodded, "I want to go back!"
Nora felt a pang of jealousy.
As soon as Magnus heard he could see Isaac every day, he immediately wanted to go back. Was he enchanted by Isaac?
She was the one who had been by his side every day.
Nora sighed silently and started packing.
She then went to find Sophia, explaining that she was taking the kids back to the city and asking if she wanted to go with them or stay here for some peace and quiet.
Sophia smiled, "I've been wanting to leave for a while, but I saw you didn't seem ready to go, so I stayed to keep you company."
Nora smiled too.
After packing, they returned to the city that same day.
Nora took the kids back to her house.
"Sophia, how about you stay here and live with us?" Nora suggested.
Sophia quickly waved her hand, "No, please spare me. Although Magnus and Soren are adorable, I can't handle being with kids 24/7."
Nora laughed, "Are kids that scary?"
Sophia exaggeratedly said, "Terrifying! You're blinded by motherly love, so you can't see any of their flaws."
Nora, displeased, put her hands on her hips and asked, "What flaws? They're perfect from head to toe!"
Sophia shook her head, "See, you're already blinded. You won't even allow anyone to point out their flaws."
"Their biggest flaw is being too cute and too clingy!"
Nora playfully smacked her arm, "You're the clingy one! After you got better, you kept coming over to cling to me, sneaking into my room at night and even taking Soren away. The kids aren't as clingy as you."
Sophia laughed, not ashamed but proud, "Well, they don't have my strength."
Nora's mouth twitched, "Comparing your strength to a three-year-old's is nothing to be proud of."
Sophia stuck out her tongue.
Nora and Sophia joked around while tidying up the house.
After they finished, Sophia suddenly voiced seriously, "Nora, I'm leaving Aridonia tomorrow."
Nora's heart tightened, and she immediately grabbed Sophia's hand, looking at her anxiously, "Why are you leaving? What are you going to do?"
Sophia smiled and patted her hand, "Don't be so worried. I'm not going to do anything drastic. I'm a billionaire now; I haven't even enjoyed the good life yet. Why would I do something drastic?"
"Even if I did want to die, I'd spend all my money first. Otherwise, wouldn't all my suffering be in vain?"
Nora frowned and asked, "Then why are you leaving?"
Sophia replied, "I want to go home and see my family first, then travel around the world."
Nora asked, "What about the art studio? Are you just going to leave it?"
Sophia smiled and asked, "Why did we start the art studio in the first place?"
Nora fell silent.
Sophia continued, "I used to work so hard at the art studio to make as much money as possible while I was young and the market was hot, so I could retire early and enjoy life."
"But now that I have money, why should I work so hard?"
"My hard work doesn't even earn as much as the interest on that money."
"Besides, I need to relax and start living again."
Nora nodded, "You're right. As long as you understand, that's what matters. I'm just worried that traveling alone might make you feel lonely."
When people were lonely, they could easily fall into despair.
Especially since Sophia had gone through such a difficult life before.
Nora wasn't trying to stop Sophia from enjoying life; she was just worried that if Sophia left her sight, she might become suicidal, and Nora wouldn't have the chance to save her.
Sophia answered, "I won't be lonely. There are so many people on the journey."
Nora sighed, "Alright, I won't stop you then. But you have to promise to text me often so I know you're okay."
Sophia raised her hand with a smile, "Alright, let's make a pact. We both have to live well!"
Nora smiled and high-fived her.
That evening, Nora invited Sophia to stay for dinner.
Since neither of them were good at cooking, Nora hired a chef to come and cook for them.
But before the chef arrived, Isaac showed up first.
Nora wasn't surprised that Isaac knew they had returned to the city.
Everyone at the resort was his subordinate, and they would inform Isaac of their every move.
It was even the resort staff who drove them back.
"Why didn't you tell me you were coming back? I could have picked you up," Isaac said tiredly.
When he got the call, he was out of town inspecting a project.
After receiving the call, he quickly arranged things there and took a flight back.
Nora's voice was cold, "It's not a big deal, no need."
Isaac's face darkened.
"Daddy!"
Magnus, hearing the voice, slowly walked over, looking at him excitedly.
Isaac's eyes brightened, and he said excitedly, "Magnus, you can walk on your own now? You're amazing, you're Daddy's pride!"
The last time he saw Magnus, he still needed to hold onto things to walk. Now he could walk on his own without any support.
It seemed he was close to a full recovery.
Isaac didn't continue arguing with Nora. He walked past her to Magnus, squatted down, and gently hugged him.
"Daddy, I want a hug too!" Soren ran over with her little legs.
Isaac smiled and hugged her too.
Satisfied, Soren ran back to the living room to continue playing games with Sophia.
Sophia was playing a shooting game with Soren, and during their human vs. AI match, she took out a ton of opponents. Soren ended up thinking she was a total gaming prodigy.
Isaac carried Magnus into the living room to join them.
The chef soon arrived, and Isaac went into the kitchen to cook with the chef.
In the living room, Sophia winked at Nora.
Nora asked curiously, "What's wrong with you? Got a muscle cramp?"
Sophia's mouth twitched, and she lowered her voice, "How did you train Isaac? Why is he so happy being a stepfather?"
In Sophia's opinion, she still thought Magnus and Soren were Nora and Mortimer's children.
Isaac should feel betrayed when he saw Magnus and Soren.
She could understand that Isaac was well-mannered and didn't blame the children for the adults' mistakes.
But she couldn't understand why Isaac treated Magnus and Soren as if they were his own children.
It was too abnormal.
Nora shook her head, "I didn't train him. He wants to be good to the kids himself. Maybe it's because my kids are too cute and lovable."
Sophia asked flatly, "Do you believe that?"
Nora nodded, "Yes."
Sophia was helpless.
Even after dinner, Sophia couldn't figure out what spell Isaac was under to willingly help raise his rival's children.
Maybe he loved Nora so much that he loved her children too?
"Love really is scary." Sophia muttered to herself.
After dinner, Isaac also prepared to leave. He didn't stay to accompany them, nor did he intend to take them home.
There was another child at home, and he needed to go back to accompany him.
Moreover, the child at home hadn't recovered physically and had some psychological issues.
Isaac didn't dare let Nora see him, so he had to keep them separated for now.
Once the child's condition improved, he would let them meet.
"Daddy, can't you stay with me?" Magnus asked reluctantly.
Isaac apologized, "I'll come see you tomorrow. I have some things to handle tonight, so I can't stay."
Magnus pleased, "Can I go with you? I'll accompany you while you handle things!"
Isaac shook his head, "No, taking you along would slow things down, and you can't walk or stand for long. I don't have time to take care of you."
Magnus's expression darkened as he let go of his hand.
He felt useless, only dragging Isaac down.
"Don't be sad. Daddy will come see you tomorrow," Isaac comforted him gently.
Magnus nodded sadly.
Isaac sighed softly.
Magnus's dependence on him wasn't good either. Every separation felt like a life-and-death parting.
Despite his reluctance, Isaac left.
Isaac drove back home.
Kieran walked up with a distressed face, "Mr. Isaac Porter, you're finally back. Mr. Magnus Porter wet his pants an hour ago, but he won't let anyone help him change."
Isaac took off his suit jacket, handed it to Kieran, and walked inside, saying, "I'll help him change. Has he eaten dinner?"
Kieran shook his head, "No, he hasn't. I brought the food to him, but he wouldn't eat. He can't hear me, so I don't know how to persuade him."
Isaac ordered, "Prepare dinner. I'll bring him down to eat later."
Isaac quickly walked to Magnus's room.
He was sitting weakly on the window seat, his face covered in tears.
Isaac quickly walked over and picked him up.
He had a bit of an odor, but Isaac didn't mind at all. He gently patted his back, "Don't be afraid, Daddy's here."
Magnus buried his face in Isaac's broad chest, as if trying to hide himself.
Isaac's heart ached.
Two months ago, Magnus wasn't like this.
Back then, although he couldn't hear or speak and couldn't control his bladder, he was very obedient. He didn't mind who took care of him.
When given medicine, he would take it obediently.
When Rhys brought out a syringe, he would obediently extend his hand for a blood draw.
If he soiled his pants, he would bow and thank the servant who helped him change.
Magnus was really very obedient.
But behind his back, the servants who took care of him found him disgusting for soiling his pants and gagged in front of him.
One servant even stuffed his dirty pants into his mouth.
They took advantage of the fact that Magnus couldn't hear, speak, or write—making it easy for them to bully him behind his back.
