Chapter 47 Nora's Attempt to Seduce Isaac
Suddenly, Nora's voice halted.
The sparkle in her eyes dulled, giving way to a forlorn grin.
"You harbor such intense resentment towards me; undoubtedly, you wouldn't want to bump into me again. In another life, I won't seek you out. I believe, without my presence, you'll be happier."
Nora slowly raised her hand, longing to touch his face.
Yet, as her fingers nearly brushed against him, she stopped.
Fearing she'd awaken him and lose the chance to behold his face any longer.
Disheartened, her hand fell, but her eyes stayed fixated on his visage.
He had every feature she adored.
"Isaac, I know you despise me. Rest assured, you won't have to bear the sight of me much longer. Soon, I'll vanish completely. I’ll never cross your path or irritate you again. Just hang in there a little longer."
Only three months left.
Nora fell silent again.
Continuing to watch him peacefully.
As fatigue crept back in, sleep took her unwittingly.
After she drifted off, Isaac's eyes gently opened.
There was no sign of grogginess in his profound gaze.
Indeed, he wasn't freshly awakened.
He had been awake before Nora stirred.
But before her eyes opened, he closed his eyes again to feign sleep.
He knew Nora had been watching him.
And had heard the words she murmured.
His brow furrowed a hint of confusion in his eyes.
What did her words truly mean?
Why did she say them?
Was she contemplating suicide?
The thought jolted Isaac, startling him.
The more he considered it, the more plausible it seemed.
Otherwise, she would not say such things without cause.
Isaac felt agitated and slightly uneasy.
How could he curb her suicidal thoughts?
Though he detested her, he didn't wish for her quick demise.
He wanted her to live, to endure the agony of reparation for her sins.
By noon, Isaac had escorted Nora out of the hospital.
She had wished to be dropped home, but he brought her back to his mansion instead.
Her protests were to no avail.
He even instructed his bodyguard not to let her sneak out on her own.
Nora began to regret asking him to take care of her.
After returning to the villa, Isaac told Wesley to buy her some new clothes and daily necessities before retreating to his study.
Restlessly, Nora sat in the familiar living room.
After pondering briefly, she retrieved her phone and sent a message to Steve. She explained that she was injured and that her ex-husband had taken her to his place for recovery, conveying her inability to return home that night.
Then she asked, "I don't want to stay at his place to recover. Can you help me think of a way to make him angry enough to let me go?"
Meanwhile, Isaac was in his study, handling some work-related matters.
His pocket vibrated with a notification.
He took out his phone and saw Nora's message.
His expression darkened.
Did Nora really detest his presence that much?
Wearing a stern expression, Isaac replied via text, "I recall you mentioning that your ex-husband harbors strong animosity towards you, correct? If that's the case, why not try tempting and seducing him, leading him to believe you're pursuing something scandalous? That should disgust him further, and maybe he'll be eager to get rid of you."
In the living room.
Nora read Steve's response and thought it made sense.
She pondered the idea – if an unwanted man kept trying to sleep with her, she'd surely find it unacceptable and stay as far away as possible.
"Great idea. I'll do just that tonight, and if all goes well, I might be able to come home later!" Nora mused to herself.
Come dinner time, Isaac was still in a meeting in his study and didn't come down to eat.
Nora had dinner alone.
Then she returned to her room.
She opened her closet and selected a set of sensual red silk lingerie from a variety of pajamas.
After a quick shower in the bathroom, she slipped into the provocative lingerie.
Then, she threw one of his white shirts over it.
Fully prepped, she made her way to the study with a mix of trepidation and strategy.
The study door was closed.
Nora knocked gently.
"Come in," came a deep, sexy male voice from inside.
Her heart rate quickened at the sound.
After taking a deep breath, Nora twisted the doorknob to open the door. She stepped in and walked toward Isaac, who was sitting at his computer desk.
Hearing the door open, he glanced up briefly with a frown, his presence becoming even more imposing, "What are you doing here? Get out, don't disrupt my work!"
Nora detected the displeasure in his voice and felt a secret thrill.
It seemed her plan to provoke him was indeed working.
If Nora intensified her attempts to seduce him, maybe even making bold physical moves, he'd definitely blow a gasket and kick her out on the spot!
Lit with resolve, Nora turned and locked the door with a quick flick of her wrist. She then made her way toward Isaac, gradually shedding her blouse to reveal the seductive nightgown beneath.
Isaac was taken aback, his pulse racing. In no time, Nora was in front of him, wrapping her slender, porcelain arms around his neck. Gently lifting herself, she straddled his lap.
Isaac tensed instantly. So close he could clearly catch the subtle fragrance emanating from her.
His breaths came in heavy waves, his lips tightly sealed. Amidst the turmoil within, he upheld a façade of indifference, even projecting a hint of annoyance.
"What are you doing? Back off!" Isaac growled, though his hands remained still.
Nora's fighting spirit ignited at the sight of his irritation. Ignoring his warning, she pressed her body against him, gracefully surrendering to his embrace.
"Why are you still working at this hour? Shouldn't you be in bed?" Nora asked in a deliberately soft and coquettish tone.
Isaac's Adam's apple bobbed. His expression remained icy as he lowered his gaze and said curtly, "I have work to do. You go to sleep. Don't disturb me."
Nora twisted gently in his arms, letting out a soft whine, "I can't sleep alone. I need you to stay with me."
His lips stayed sealed.
Observing a lack of fiery outburst, Nora pressed on. Melding her entire presence with his, her cheeks tinged with a flush, she whispered seductively, "You promised to do anything I ask. Well, now I'm asking you to stay with me. You can't say no."
As her words faded, she planted a soft kiss near his lips.
Isaac grasped her waist and stood up, striding across the room with her in his arms.
"What are you doing?" Nora exclaimed, fear and surprise mingling in her voice.
Isaac's lips curled into a smirk as he glanced at her, "Didn't you want me to sleep with you?"
"As you wish." His response left Nora silent; her expectations turned upside down.
