Chapter 220 Tell Isaac, Nora is still alive!

Nora stared at the man in front of her, who called himself Griffin, totally baffled.

Griffin's eyes were lit up with excitement and shock, like he was sure he had the right person.

"How do you know my name? Do you really know me?" Nora asked, curious as heck.

Griffin, all hyped up, said, "Of course I know you! You're Mr. Porter's wife! Come back with me. Mr. Porter's been a wreck since you left, and now he can't even see! He really needs you!"

As Griffin spoke, his voice cracked, and tears started streaming down his face.

No matter how worked up he got, Nora just couldn't get what he was feeling; she was straight-up puzzled.

Who the heck was Mr. Porter?

She had no clue who Griffin was talking about!

Nora glanced at Mortimer beside her.

Right then, Mortimer's face was dark as a storm cloud, and his eyes were ice-cold.

Nora was stunned, staring at Mortimer in shock. She'd never seen him look like this.

In her mind, Mortimer was always the calm, classy guy, always smiling no matter what.

But now, he looked downright scary.

"Mortimer," Nora called out softly.

Her voice snapped Mortimer back to reality and caught Griffin's attention too.

Griffin's face twisted with anger, and he pointed at Mortimer, yelling, "Mortimer, so it was you who hid Nora. How could you do this? Nora is Mr. Porter's wife, and you were once Mr. Porter's good friend. How could you steal your buddy's wife?

"Nora doesn't remember me or Mr. Porter now. Did you mess with her memory?

"Mortimer, you snake, you're so low. Give Nora back to Mr. Porter!"

Griffin got more and more worked up.

He whipped out his phone and said angrily, "I'm calling Mr. Porter and telling him Nora isn't dead. You hid her and messed with her memory. Mr. Porter won't let you get away with this!"

Mortimer's eyes went even darker.

He suddenly kicked Griffin's hand hard.

The phone flew out of Griffin's hand, and he stumbled back a few steps.

Mortimer coldly snapped, "You're nuts! I don't know you, and my fiancée doesn't know you either. She's never been married, so how could she be someone else's wife?

"I think you dug up dirt on me and my fiancée, came here to stir up trouble, and tried to scam us!

"Your cheap tricks are old news. We're not falling for it. You better back off! If you want money, get a real job!"

Griffin was livid and shouted, "I'm not a scammer. I didn't want to extort money. I'm telling the truth!

"Mortimer, you're so low. To cover up your crimes, you smear me with lies. You're truly despicable!"

After cursing Mortimer, Griffin looked earnestly at Nora, saying, "Nora, I swear, every word I said is true. You really are Mr. Porter's wife. I'm not lying. If you don't believe me, come back with me to see Mr. Porter. You two were crazy in love. Maybe seeing him will jog your memory!

"Nora, Mr. Porter's name is Isaac. You two were head over heels..."

Mortimer kicked Griffin hard again.

Griffin went flying, landing in a heap, and spat out a mouthful of blood.

"If you dare to stir up trouble again, don't blame me for getting nasty!" Mortimer snapped, his eyes and tone full of warning.

Griffin was fuming. He wanted to retort, but Mortimer's kick had busted his ribs, and as soon as he opened his mouth, he coughed up a big mouthful of blood. He couldn't speak, just glared at Mortimer and occasionally glanced at Nora, hoping she'd remember and see through Mortimer's fake act.

"Mortimer, chill out. If he's causing trouble, just kick him out. Why'd you have to hit him so hard?" Nora grabbed Mortimer's arm, looking a bit scared.

His reaction freaked her out a little.

Mortimer dialed back his fierce look and apologized, "Sorry, did I scare you? I lost it because I was afraid you'd believe his crap."

Nora said, "I'm not dumb. I won't just believe whatever anyone says. Don't worry; I'm not that gullible."

Mortimer's face relaxed into a slight smile, and he let out a breath.

"Let's head back," he said gently, putting his arm around Nora's shoulder.

Nora nodded slightly.

"Nora..." Griffin called out weakly, but his broken ribs kept him from shouting, and Nora didn't hear him.

He watched helplessly as Nora and Mortimer walked away.

Mortimer held Nora with one hand and secretly pulled out his phone with the other, texting Alaric: [Get your guys and handle Griffin now. Don't let him contact Isaac's crew.]

Alaric had been tailing Mortimer the whole time, but Mortimer couldn't give orders in front of Nora, so he had to do it on the sly.

Alaric got Mortimer's message and immediately called over two bodyguards to approach Griffin, who was lying by the roadside.

After seeing Nora leave with Mortimer, Griffin could only drag his injured body and crawl to get his kicked-away phone.

He couldn't convince Nora to go back with him, so he had to contact Isaac and tell him Nora was still alive.

If Isaac came in person, he could definitely bring Nora back!

Griffin finally crawled to the phone.

He picked it up and, with shaky fingers, dialed Isaac's number.

But after several tries, no one answered.

He had no choice but to call his colleague, Wesley.

Wesley picked up quickly.

"Hey, Griffin, how's the project inspection going in Drakonia? Any issues with the progress?" Wesley asked about work right away.

Griffin had come to Drakonia to check on a company project.

Naturally, Wesley thought Griffin was calling about a project problem.

Griffin weakly said, "Wesley, tell Mr. Porter quick that I saw Nora. She's not dead. She's alive."

Wesley asked in shock, "What did you say? Nora's alive? Are you sure you didn't mistake someone else for her? Could it be someone who just looks like Nora?"

Griffin answered, "I'm dead sure. That was Nora. I was less than six feet away from her and even talked to her. Nora's really alive! Nora is now with..."
