Chapter 231 Saw the Evidence of Their Love
"Nora, seriously, you don't remember Isaac? And me? Nothing?" Rhys asked while driving.
Nora gave him a blank stare for a few seconds before shaking her head. "Nope, don't remember you."
Rhys smiled, trying to be reassuring. "It's alright. I'll help you figure this out and see if we can jog your memory. Most amnesia cases can be treated."
Nora nodded, but she wasn't really interested. She had no clue who this guy was.
Plus, he was Isaac's buddy. Even if he was nice, she didn't want to get too close.
"Nora, let me introduce myself again. I'm Rhys, a doctor. We used to be really close," Rhys said with a smile.
Nora nodded again, keeping her distance, hoping he'd get the hint and stop talking.
But Rhys kept going, "Nora, you really don't remember Isaac? Nothing at all when you see him? He's your husband, you used to love him a lot."
Nora stayed quiet.
"When you were at the villa, did anything seem familiar?" Rhys pressed on.
Nora still didn't say a word.
"Nora, can you answer me? I'm trying to understand your situation. The more I know, the better I can help," Rhys said.
Finally, Nora spoke up, "I don't need your help. If you really care, respect my wishes and let me go."
Rhys replied, "You can't leave. If you do, Isaac won't make it. You have no idea how he fell apart thinking you were dead. He drank every day, wouldn't go home, just went to your grave and cried. His eyes even went blind for a while because of you. I just did surgery on him, and his vision's still not fully back. If you leave again, he'll fall apart. How do you expect him to live?"
Nora looked down, hiding her emotions, feeling torn.
Rhys continued, "You two were so in love. If you hadn't lost your memory, you wouldn't want to see him like this."
Nora bit her lip and said, "But I don't remember now. I have no feelings for him. Hearing all this, I still feel nothing. I just want to go back to my fiancé. My heart tells me he's the one I love."
Rhys looked shocked. "Who's your fiancé? Mortimer?"
Nora didn't deny it.
Rhys shouted angrily, "Mortimer, that jerk! How could he make you his fiancée? You're Isaac's wife! He and Isaac used to be good friends!"
Nora was taken aback. "They were friends?"
If Mortimer and Isaac were friends, then Mortimer must know Isaac and her past with him.
But when Griffin showed up and recognized her, Mortimer didn't tell her the truth. Instead, he lied, saying she didn't know Isaac and had never been married.
Maybe it wasn't Mortimer who deceived her.
What if it was this guy in front of her who was lying?
Nora shot him a cold look. "You say Mortimer and Isaac were friends. Got any proof?"
"Yeah," Rhys said, pulling out his phone. "Hang on, I'll find a photo. We took a bunch back then."
He opened up a photo and turned the screen towards Nora. "Here, check this out."
Nora's eyes widened in shock as she looked at the screen.
In the photo, she and Isaac were in the middle, with Isaac's arm around her shoulder, pulling her close.
This was definitely more than just friendship!
And Mortimer was on the other side of Isaac, smiling gently.
This photo clearly confirmed Nora's relationship with Isaac. They were definitely a couple. Her happy, joyful smile in the photo showed she liked Isaac back then.
This photo also exposed Mortimer's lie.
Nora stared blankly at the photo, feeling a heavy, suffocating weight in her chest.
Why did Mortimer lie to her?
"I'll find more old photos for you. Maybe they'll jog your memory!" Rhys nudged Isaac, who was sitting in the front. "Got any photos with Nora on your phone? Show them!"
Isaac silently took out his phone and handed it to Rhys. "Private album."
Rhys asked, "What's the password?"
Isaac replied, "Her birthday."
Rhys entered Nora's birthday.
They'd known each other for so long, and Rhys had celebrated many of Nora's birthdays. So he naturally knew her birthday.
The password worked, and the album opened.
Rhys was surprised to see over ten thousand photos in the album! And all of them were of Nora. There were photos from their school days all the way to their married life.
Rhys handed the phone to Nora. "Here, take a look. You and Isaac took so many photos together. Look how happy you both were. Can this be fake?"
Nora took Isaac's phone and started scrolling through the photos.
In the photos, she and Isaac were super close, and the happiness in their eyes was almost overwhelming.
Nora's heart pounded. With so much evidence in front of her, she couldn't deny her relationship with Isaac anymore.
Rhys seized the moment and said, "Nora, the person you've always loved is Isaac. You two were so happy together, always showing off your love in front of us. Lots of people can vouch for that!"
Nora said, dazed, "But why don't I remember him at all? Instead, I remember Mortimer?"
Rhys said, "Sometimes, forgetting someone doesn't mean you didn't love them. Maybe you loved them so deeply that you ended up forgetting them!"
Nora looked at him, confused. "I don't get it."
