Chapter 288 Nora Suspects Magnus Has Been Switched

"Could someone have stolen Magnus's face and pretended to be him, locking the real Magnus away?" Soren boldly speculated.

Nora laughed. "Stop listening to so many stories. In real life, you can't steal someone's face."

Soren pouted. "If Magnus hasn't been swapped, does that mean he doesn't like me anymore? He said he would always protect me, but now he doesn't want to be with me." She cried sadly.

Nora hugged her, comforting her softly with a pained heart. "Don't cry, sweetheart. Magnus doesn't dislike you. He was just upset a few days ago. It's only temporary. If you get along with him well, he'll be back to his old self in no time."

Soren sobbed in her arms. As she cried, she slowly fell asleep.

Isaac had already sent several messages urging her.

Nora tucked Soren in, quietly left the room, and headed straight to Isaac's room.

Isaac hadn't closed the door.

She pushed the ajar door and walked in.

Once inside, she gently pushed the door. But because she didn't use enough force, the door remained ajar.

As she entered the room, Mortimer also came out of his room.

He looked at Nora entering Isaac's room, a hint of coldness slowly appearing in his gaze.

He pondered, 'Nora, you really made up with Isaac. Do you love Isaac that much? He hurt you so deeply, why are you still willing to be with him?'

Inside the room.

Nora walked to the bedside, angrily looking at Isaac, who was leisurely lying on the bed. "Can you stop being so childish?"

"How am I being childish?" Isaac asked.

"Deliberately saying those ambiguous things in front of Mortimer!" Nora added.

"I was just kindly reminding you and telling the truth, not making things up. How is that childish?" Isaac said.He made a good point, but Nora still felt he was deliberately trying to make Mortimer misunderstand.

Forget it, she had already explained things to Mortimer. If he misunderstood, so be it.

She didn't want to argue with Isaac anymore. She sat down by the bed and leaned in to kiss his lips. She intended to just brush it off.

But the moment her lips touched his, Isaac immediately grabbed the back of her head, holding her firmly so she couldn't pull away.

The kiss deepened.

Her mouth was invaded by his breath, filled with his scent.

Her heartbeat sped up uncontrollably, and her head started to feel dizzy.

This time, Isaac kissed her for a particularly long time, as if he wanted to devour her.

After the kiss, she was severely out of breath, her mind dizzy, and her body weak, unable to muster any strength. She could only lie on him, gasping for air, waiting for her consciousness and strength to return.

Isaac's breathing was also heavy, but his mind was clear.

He held Nora, his sharp eyes looking through the gap in the door, a hint of mockery in his gaze.

If you like to peek, then let him watch to his heart's content.

Mortimer's cold gaze met Isaac's mocking eyes.

He clenched his fists tightly, then released them powerlessly, his face dark as he walked back to his room and closed the door.

Nora rested on Isaac for a few minutes before finally recovering. She sat up straight, her cheeks still flushed, feeling a bit embarrassed to meet his eyes.

In the end, she silently got up and left the room, almost running back to her own room.

The next day.

After getting up, Nora helped Soren get ready and brought Magnus back to his room to change his clothes.

She remembered what Soren had said to her last night, and her thoughts stirred. While helping Magnus change clothes, she took off the mask on his face. After dressing him, she pinched Magnus's face. "Magnus, why are you so cute~"

Magnus said, "Mommy, you're pinching too hard. It hurts."

Nora awkwardly smiled and quickly let go.

Seeing the red marks on Magnus's cheeks, she felt a bit guilty. She had actually thought that what Soren said last night made some sense. She had suspected that Magnus had been swapped, that his face was fake, and wanted to tear off his mask.

"Sorry, I didn't control my strength. Does it hurt? Mommy will blow on it, and it won't hurt anymore." She then hugged Magnus, kissing and blowing on his reddened cheeks.

Magnus remained silent, but his eyes, hidden under his eyelids, darkened.

When she took the kids out, Isaac and Mortimer also came downstairs.

Isaac held her hand, pulling her towards his car. "Ride with me. The kindergarten teachers know we're a family of four, so we should go together."

But Magnus held Mortimer's hand and said to Nora, "Mommy, I want to go with uncle Mortimer."

Nora looked troubled.

Isaac refused to let go.

Magnus also wouldn't let go of Mortimer.

Both sides were at an impasse.

Mortimer sighed lightly and said to Nora, "Why don't you take Soren in Isaac's car, and I'll take Magnus. Let's not delay their school time."

Nora could only accept Mortimer's suggestion. So, she took Soren and got into Isaac's car.

Magnus happily got into Mortimer's car.

The two cars slowly moved forward in the same direction.

In Mortimer's car.

Magnus's face no longer had the usual pitiful look but instead showed indifference, along with a maturity that didn't match his age.

When there were no outsiders, he reverted to his original identity, Barrett. He then using his own voice, suddenly said, "Uncle Mortimer, Aunt Nora might be suspicious of me."

Mortimer hadn't told him that the woman named Nora was his biological mother.

Even though Barrett could guess that there was a ninety percent chance that Nora was his biological mother.

But after reverting to his identity as Barrett, he refused to call her 'Mommy'. Calling her 'Aunt Nora' was already the friendliest term he could use.

Nora was his mother, who kept Magnus and Soren but abandoned him.

If it weren't for Mortimer, he would have died long ago.

He only recognized Mortimer as his family and would never acknowledge the mother who abandoned him.

And that man named Isaac, who was obviously his father.

Isaac also abandoned him, and he wouldn't acknowledge him either.

In this world, only uncle Mortimer treated him well. He would spend his life repaying him, doing whatever he asked him to do.

Uncle Mortimer didn't like that man named Isaac, so he would find a way to help him get rid of Isaac!
