Chapter 200 Sophia is Under House Arrest
"You aren't dating her under another identity?" Harold glanced at him.
Isaac explained, "She broke up with me a long time ago. Even though I tried to hold on, she hasn't really been paying attention to me.
"Now she's changed the locks at home, so I can't even go see her."
Harold fell silent, deep in thought.
After a while, Harold patted Isaac on the shoulder and said, "Where there's a will, there's a way. You'll figure something out.
"You can't go to her house, but you can go to her store to find her."
Isaac was still troubled. He wasn't concerned about getting her attention, he just wanted to make sure she was okay.
The thought of Nora being in danger made him uneasy.
Isaac drank a few more bottles of beer, then got up and left the bar.
He mused, 'I need to pull myself together, not get wasted. I couldn't let this drag me down. I don't buy that whole fate thing! Even if Nora is really in danger, I would help her out of it, rather than sitting around doing nothing.'
The next morning, Nora got up to make breakfast for her two kids. After breakfast, the two nannies she hired arrived for work.
Nora instructed Magnus and Soren, "Mommy has to go to work. You stay with Olivia and Ava. If you miss me, just call me."
She had bought them kids' smartwatches yesterday so they could call her.
"Ms. Foster, don't worry. We've been doing this for thirty years; we have a lot of experience taking care of children," Olivia said with a kind smile.
Nora nodded in acknowledgment and said, "Thank you."
She had put in a lot of work to find these two nannies, sifting through tons of recommendations, and had paid a hefty sum to hire them.
Moreover, the agency they worked for was very professional and safe, with all employees having background checks at the police station, ensuring their safety.
"Mommy, can I go to work with you?" Soren pleaded as she clung to Nora's leg, looking pitiful.
Magnus also looked up at her, full of longing.
Nora said, "I have a batch of paintings to finish, so I can't take care of you. You should stay at home.
"If you don't want to stay at home, you can ask Olivia and Ava to take you out to play."
Magnus and Soren looked heartbroken.
Olivia smiled, "Ms. Foster, is it okay for us to stay at your workplace? If it is, Ava and I can take the kids there. We'll take good care of them."
Nora said, "It's my shop, so it's convenient."
Olivia said, "Alright. Then You don't have to worry about the kids bothering you while you work. We'll take care of them."
"They're still young and just want to stay by your side. They won't necessarily disturb your work."
Ava added, "Yes, they are so young and they still need their parents. Seeing you will make them feel secure. Otherwise, they might lack a sense of security when they grow up."
Nora felt a pang of guilt after hearing Olivia and Ava's words.
She really hadn't been paying enough attention to her kids.
"Alright, you can come to the shop with me," Nora said, patting Magnus and Soren's heads. "But you have to wear masks and can't take them off until we get home. Can you do that?"
"Yes, we can!" Magnus and Soren nodded happily. They added, "As long as we can be with you, we'll do anything!"
Nora went to get their masks and helped them put them on.
As she did, she instructed, "You can't call me Mommy outside."
Soren tilted his head, puzzled. "Why not?" she asked.
Nora said, "There are bad people who don't like me. If they know you're my kids, they'll kidnap you to threaten me."
She was worried about being discovered by Daxton and the Porters.
So, to be on the safe side, she had to do these precautions.
"Okay, we understand," Magnus and Soren replied and nodded obediently.
After getting everything ready, Nora called a car and, along with the two nannies, took the kids to the art studio.
Nora opened the shop and let the nannies take the kids to the play area while she tidied up the store.
The nannies were kind; one watched the kids while the other helped Nora clean.
Nora felt very grateful and lucky to have found such good nannies.
Just as she finished tidying up, a customer walked in.They were referred by a previous customer.
This customer also wanted to place a large order, but Nora was all by herself and worried she couldn't handle it, so she didn't dare to accept it.
She had to work overtime to finish the other orders that she already had lined up while she was stile living.
And Sophia hadn't returned to work since she visited her grandfather.
If Sophia had time, she could take the order. This large order alone would cover the shop's monthly revenue.
After the customer left, Nora called Sophia. It took a long time for Sophia to answer the call.
"Nora, what's up?" she greeted over the phone.
Nora asked, "Sophia, where are you? When can you come back? A customer just came in wanting to order a batch of paintings. I gave him a price of $20,000, and the customer agreed.
"But I still have a batch of paintings unfinished, and you haven't been back for a long time, so I did not dare to take the order."
Sophia apologized, "I'm sorry, Nora. I might need more time before coming back. My grandfather's condition has worsened, and I need to stay with him. I'm afraid something might happen to him."
Nora sighed deeply and replied, "Alright, I won't take the order for now."
After chatting for a bit, they hung up.
Sophia gripped her phone tightly and angrily threw it to the ground.
She was in a private estate in the suburbs, not at the hospital with her grandfather.
Although she had indeed visited her grandfather, she thought no one was following her when she decided to secretly have an abortion at the hospital where he was staying..
But just as she got on the operating table, Rylan found her. He had her kidnapped and brought here, insisting he wouldn't let her go until she gave birth.
Sophia was furious but felt utterly helpless. To punish her, Rylan had also harmed her grandfather, who was supposed to be discharged in a few days but was now in the ICU.
Livid yet powerless, Sophia couldn’t dare to resist, fearing Rylan would harm her grandfather again.
After hanging up, Nora realized that she wouldn't be able to work soon, and with Sophia being busy, the store might have to close. She decided to hire one or two artists.
She posted a job listing online.
Since the store mainly dealt with traditional paintings, the job required on-site work.
"Ms. Foster, you gotta check this out. Someone's here for you," Olivia suddenly came over, smiling mischievously.
Nora looked at Olivia, puzzled and thought, 'Someone is here to see me, but why is Olivia so happy about it?'
With curiosity, Nora walked to the front.
Then, she froze in place.
