Chapter 112 Isaac's Heart Like Ashes
Time flew by quickly.
The DNA test results were out.
Jay returned to the office once again.
"The test results are out, who should I give them to?" Jay asked nervously.
His eyes wandered, afraid to meet anyone's gaze.
Especially Isaac, he didn't dare to even look at Isaac.
As an employee of the the Porter Family, he was helping an outsider, creating fake things to deceive the leadership.
He couldn't face Isaac.
Isaac paid him such a high salary and trusted him so much, that he was letting Isaac down.
But he had no choice, he couldn't ignore the threat to the life of his own wife and child.
"Give it to me," Mortimer said calmly. He reached out and took the sealed bag.
Jay felt relieved and hurriedly left the office.
The atmosphere in the office was too oppressive, he didn't dare to stay a moment longer.
Most importantly, he felt guilty.
Mortimer tore open the sealed bag, took out the document inside.
He deliberately walked up to Isaac, unfolded the document in his hand, and looked at it together.
Except for Nora, everyone else also gathered around, wanting to know the truth.
Nora clearly felt that after they finished reading the document, their faces changed.
Especially Isaac, his already gloomy face became even more dangerous and frightening.
Edmund also showed a disappointed and helpless expression on his face, shaking his head while sighing.
Nora looked puzzled.
What was happening to them?
At that moment, Katie, with a serious expression, said to Mortimer, "Since Nora's child is yours, take care of her and don't let her have any unclear relationships with Isaac, making everyone uncomfortable!"
Mortimer chuckled softly and assured, "All right, I will advise Nora not to see Isaac anymore. But I also hope you can manage Isaac well and stop him from bothering Nora."
Katie felt crestfallen.
During this period, indeed, Isaac had been clinging to Nora, not letting her go.
Katie said indignantly, "Rest assured, now that it's known she's carrying your child, Isaac won't even look at her again!"
She stated, "Isaac, come with me, stay away from Nora in the future, so as not to tarnish your own reputation!"
Katie grabbed Isaac's wrist, preparing to pull him away forcibly.
Isaac didn't move. He looked at Nora.
The bottomless eyes, the warmth and emotions within them, gradually faded away, turning into a lifeless gray, as if losing life.
Nora felt a chill down her spine as she was looked at by him, her face slightly pale.
Before she could understand what Mortimer and Katie's conversation meant, her mind went blank for a moment under Isaac's gaze.
By the time she came to her senses, Isaac had already left with Katie and Edmund.
In the office, only she and Mortimer remained.
"Nora, let's go, I'm sure Isaac won't bother you anymore," Mortimer walked up to Nora and said gently.
Nora snapped out of it.
She glanced at Mortimer, then shifted her gaze to the paternity result in his hand.
She took the document from Mortimer's hand and lowered her eyes to read the contents.
After reading the contents, Nora couldn't believe her eyes, her mind went blank.
"Based on the DNA genetic marker typing results, the biological father of sample 1 supports that of sample 2."
It was noted that Mortimer provided sample 1, while sample 2 was her unborn child.
Nora found it utterly absurd.
She had never had any relationship with Mortimer, so why would the DNA test result show that Mortimer was the father of her child?
"Mortimer, what is going on? What have you done?" Nora looked at Mortimer with red eyes, suddenly feeling like she didn't know this man.
In her mind, Mortimer had always been a righteous, kind, and caring older brother.
But now, he was actually manipulating the test results!
This hospital was part of the the Porter Family's business, it had some of the best doctors in the country and the most advanced equipment in the world, so there couldn't be a mistake in the test results.
So, there was only one possibility, someone tampered with it.
Mortimer was highly suspicious!
No wonder when questioned about being the child's father, he didn't explain but suggested a DNA test himself.
It turned out Mortimer had planned to tamper with it all along!
"Why did you do this? Why deliberately create this misunderstanding, making everyone think that my child is yours?" Nora asked angrily.
"Nora, calm down, everything I did was to help you," Mortimer explained gently.
"Help me?" Nora laughed in anger, "Your way of helping me is to ruin my reputation, making people think that we had an affair?"
Mortimer fell silent for a few seconds before saying, "Even without this test report, others wouldn't see us in a good light."
Nora felt like something was choking her throat, unable to come up with a rebuttal.
Yes.
Even if their relationship was pure as snow.
In the eyes of others, they were already seen as a shameless adulterous couple.
Even without this test report, there was no way to clear the air between her and Mortimer.
But the thought of Isaac's lifeless gaze before he left still made Nora feel breathless.
Nora declared, "Even if others don't see us in a good light, I don't want them to misunderstand that I'm carrying your child."
Especially Isaac.
She didn't want Isaac to suspect that she had something going on with Mortimer.
Proving that the child in her belly wasn't Isaac's was enough; there was no need to make him think the child belonged to Mortimer.
That would drive him insane.
"You've always wanted to get away from Isaac, right? If he doesn't think the child in your belly is mine, do you think he'll let you go?" Mortimer asked.
"I've already proven that the child in my belly isn't his, he will let me go!" Nora said.
Mortimer sighed and said, "You still don't understand Isaac."
He continued, "Even if the child isn't his, he won't let you go, he'll only force you to get rid of the child and then keep you by his side, tormenting you."
And added, "Only when he thinks the child is mine will he stop bothering you out of disgust."
Nora's heart tightened.
It seemed to be true.
Even after the first test report came out, Isaac still wouldn't let her go.
It wasn't until the second test report came out that Isaac finally stopped pestering her.
Seeing Nora's attitude soften, Mortimer slowed down and said, "Nora, your goal is to get away from Isaac, to stop him from bothering you. As long as you achieve that goal, it doesn't matter how others perceive you."
Nora no longer cared how others saw her.
But the thought of Isaac's lifeless gaze still made her heart ache uncontrollably.
Suddenly, Nora seemed to realize something and looked at Mortimer with a deep gaze, asking, "Did you tamper with the first report?"
