Chapter 448 He Is Throwing a Tantrum

"Yes, I miss Uncle Mortimer too. Mommy, can you take us to see Uncle Mortimer?"

Soren brightened up upon hearing Magnus's words and started insisting on seeing Mortimer.

Soren didn't know what Mortimer had done to Magnus; she still liked Mortimer as much as before.

Nora's face changed instantly.

She stared at Magnus for a while before speaking in a low voice, "You don't blame Mortimer anymore? Why do you want to see him again?"

Magnus looked down, his voice barely above a whisper. "I don't blame Uncle Mortimer. He was just just doing something wrong."

"Compared to the harm he caused me, Uncle Mortimer's kindness to me is greater. I can't blame him."

"Mommy, I don't blame Uncle Mortimer. Can you not blame him either?"

Nora was a bit angry but didn't want to scare Magnus, so she kept her voice gentle and calm, "He almost took your life this time. No amount of kindness can offset that. You don't have to be afraid to hate him just because he was kind to you."

Magnus shook his head, "It's not because of his kindness that I don't dislike Uncle Mortimer. I genuinely like Uncle Mortimer."

"Mommy, can you let me see Uncle Mortimer, please?"

He finally lifted his eyes, looking at Nora with longing.

Although he felt that Nora was biased, only liking the real Magnus, and that her love wasn't for him.

But he still greedily wanted to stay by her side, to stay by Isaac's side.

He had to do as Mortimer's order, to prevent Mortimer from telling Nora the truth.

Nora replied in a deep voice, "I can't let you see him again. You're not feeling well today, which is why you have such thoughts. Don't say such things again in the future."

She couldn't let Mortimer, who had hurt Magnus, have contact with him again.

Magnus was lucky this time, barely surviving, but there might not be such luck next time.

She couldn't let Magnus take the risk.

"Such a small request, and Mommy won't agree to it?" Magnus said sadly.

Nora responded, "You can make other requests, but not this one. Any request related to Mortimer is not allowed."

Magnus fell silent, feeling very down.

Soren blinked her big eyes and asked in confusion, "Mommy, why won't you let us see Uncle Mortimer?"

"Mommy, did you have a fight with Uncle Mortimer?"

Nora rubbed Soren's head and explained softly, "Yes, we had a dispute. We won't be in close contact anymore."

Soren said anxiously, "Why? I like Uncle Mortimer. I want to see him."

Nora didn't say anything.

Soren became even more anxious, "Mommy, please don't fight with Uncle Mortimer, okay? He grew up with us. I don't want to not see him forever!"

Nora was silent for a moment and decided to tell Soren the truth.

She looked seriously at Soren, "Your brother's injury this time was caused by Mortimer on purpose. Magnus almost didn't survive. I can't let you see him again."

"How could Uncle Mortimer hurt Magnus on purpose?" Soren asked in disbelief.

Nora answered, "I know you like him very much and don't believe he would do such a thing. I didn't believe it either, but the fact is, he did harm Magnus."

"So, for your safety, I won't let you have contact with him again."

Soren was very sad, still muttering that it was impossible.

Nora didn't comfort her.

She took them home.

Nora found that Magnus started to throw a tantrum with her.

Since she refused to let him see Mortimer, Magnus stopped talking.

At first, Nora thought he was just temporarily down and would come around soon.

But even by evening, Magnus hadn't said a word or interacted with her.

He didn't even interact with Soren.

No matter how Soren made funny faces or told jokes in front of him, he remained sullen and unwilling to communicate.

At dinner, Magnus didn't eat.

Nora carried him to the dining table and personally fed him, but he wouldn't open his mouth.

Nora didn't force him anymore.

Missing one meal wouldn't kill him.

Before bed, Nora brought medicine for Magnus, but he refused to take it.

This made Nora a bit anxious.

She patiently persuaded, "Magnus, be good. Even if you're throwing a tantrum, you can't skip your medicine. If you don't take it, you won't get any better. Do you want to be stuck in bed?"

A flash of panic crossed Magnus's eyes, but he still kept his mouth tightly shut, refusing to take the medicine.

Nora's face darkened slightly, "Do you really want to see him that much? Are you willing to risk paralysis and not take your medicine to threaten me?"

Magnus lowered his eyes in a dejected manner, "Mommy, would you rather see me paralyzed than let me see Uncle Mortimer?"

Nora didn't expect Magnus to say that and was momentarily at a loss for words.

Nora and Magnus were at a stalemate for a long time, but Magnus still wouldn't take the medicine.

She had no choice but to leave the room and secretly call Rhys.

"Rhys, in Magnus's current condition, can he skip his medicine for a day?"

Rhys asked, "Why would he skip his medicine for a day? I gave you enough medicine. Did you lose it? If you lost it, I can have someone send it over immediately."

Nora replied, "No, I didn't lose it. There's still medicine. Magnus is throwing a tantrum and won't take it."

Rhys said, "Try to coax him and get him to take the medicine."

Nora sighed helplessly, "I tried, but he won't listen to me. No matter what I say, he won't take the medicine."

Rhys curiously asked, "Why is he throwing a tantrum? Is he that stubborn?"

Nora didn't explain.

Rhys didn't press further, "Skipping the medicine for a day won't be life-threatening, but it will affect his recovery. It could lead to lingering issues, slow him down, or leave him with incomplete healing. Isn't he still dealing with that back pain? If he doesn't stick to his medication, it could turn into a long-term problem."

Nora's heart tightened, and she said urgently, "Then please contact Isaac and have him come over. Magnus relies on Isaac more and might listen to him."

Rhys laughed, "Don't you have Isaac's number? Contact him yourself. I have things to do. Bye."

Nora was silent.

Listening to the busy tone on the phone, Nora felt very helpless.

She had no choice but to call Isaac herself.

The phone rang for a while before it was answered.

Isaac's deep voice came through, "Darling, what's the matter so late?"

Nora didn't bother correcting his term of endearment and said directly, "Magnus won't take his medicine. Can you come and persuade him?"

Isaac asked in confusion, "Why won't he take his medicine?"

Nora's tone was complicated, "Come and ask him yourself."

Isaac agreed, "Alright, I'll be there right away."

Nora breathed a sigh of relief and sat in the living room, anxiously waiting for Isaac.

Isaac arrived in less than half an hour.

"What happened?" Isaac asked as he walked in.

Nora said, "You're here, go ask him yourself."

Isaac walked into the bedroom.

Soren was already asleep, lying sweetly in bed, while Magnus sat on the bed, looking sad.

Isaac sat down by the bed and asked softly, "Magnus, why won't you take your medicine? Without it, your body won't heal. You won't be able to run, jump, or even walk for long. In the worst-case scenario, you might even be paralyzed and unable to sit."

"Be good, take your medicine. No matter what, you can't mess around with your health."

As he spoke, Isaac picked up the medicine from the bedside and brought it to Magnus's lips.

The pill was at his lips, but Magnus kept his mouth tightly shut, refusing to take it.

Isaac had to put the medicine down and asked softly, "Tell me, what do you want?"

Magnus still wouldn't speak.

Isaac continued, "You need to tell me what you want so I can know and meet your needs."

"If you don't say what you want, throwing a tantrum is pointless. I can't fulfill your request if I don't know what it is."

Magnus thought he made sense and finally spoke, "I want to see Uncle Mortimer every day."

Isaac's face darkened instantly, and his demeanor turned cold.

Magnus seemed frightened and shrank back.

Isaac forced himself to calm down and asked in a serious tone, "Why do you want to see him? Have you forgotten what he did to you?"

Magnus replied, "I remember. Uncle Mortimer raised me, cared for me, and I like him."

Isaac's anger flared, and his face turned grim, "He almost killed you. Have you forgotten that?"

Magnus said quietly, "Uncle Mortimer didn't do it on purpose."

Isaac gritted his teeth, "He did it on purpose. Don't be fooled by him!"

Magnus continued, "Even if Uncle Mortimer did it on purpose, I still like him. Uncle Mortimer has been good to me for so long. I can't forget all his kindness because of one mistake!"

Isaac was silent.

Magnus looked at Isaac and pleaded, "Daddy, can you let me see Uncle Mortimer? I miss Uncle Mortimer so much."

Isaac's face darkened further, and he said through gritted teeth, "No way! I won't let you see someone who almost killed you!"

"I'll repay his kindness to you. You don't need to worry about it anymore!"

Magnus looked disappointed.

Isaac brought the medicine to his lips again, "Take your medicine first."

Magnus didn't move.

Isaac, with a stern face, threw the medicine down and walked out of the room, looking grim.

He walked into the living room, sat down next to Nora, picked up a half-drunk glass of water from the table, and drank it in one gulp, still feeling angry.

"Did he take the medicine?" Nora asked.

Isaac shook his head and asked with a dark expression, "Why does he suddenly want to see Mortimer?"

Nora shook her head, "I don't know why either."

"What do we do now? If he doesn't see Mortimer, he won't take his medicine. I asked Rhys, and if he doesn't take his medicine on time, it will greatly affect his recovery and might leave sequelae."

Isaac looked at her with a dark expression, "Do you want to let him see Mortimer?"

Nora said helplessly, "Of course not! I don't want them to meet. If I did, I would have agreed to his request when he threw a tantrum. I wouldn't have called you to persuade him."

Isaac's expression softened a bit.

He thought for a moment and then said in a low voice, "When he falls asleep, we'll crush the medicine into powder, dissolve it in water, and quietly give it to him."

Nora's mouth twitched.

But this was the last resort.

She nodded silently.

Nora and Isaac sat in the living room, each lost in their thoughts.

An hour later, Nora quietly went to the bedroom door to check.

Magnus was still sitting up, not asleep.

Two hours later.

Magnus was still awake.

Three hours later.

Still not asleep.

Four hours.

Five hours.

Magnus finally couldn't hold on and fell asleep.

Nora immediately took out Magnus's medicine, crushed it, and put it in water.

Then, with Isaac, they quietly fed the medicine to Magnus.

Children slept deeply, and Magnus, having stayed up so long, was in a deep sleep.

Even when given the medicine, he didn't wake up.

With the medicine taken, Nora finally let out a sigh of relief.

"It's late. You should get some rest," Isaac said softly.

Nora looked at him, "What about you?"

Isaac raised an eyebrow with a smile, "Do you want me to stay and keep you company?"

Nora ignored his teasing, "Driving while tired is dangerous. You should leave in the morning. There's a guest room here. You can sleep there."

Isaac said, "I can't sleep in the guest room. If you don't let me sleep with you, I'll go back."

Nora glared at him, "Stop threatening me. If you want to go back, go ahead!"

Isaac sighed in disappointment, "Alright, since you're kicking me out, I'll leave."

He stood up, looking tired, yawned, and walked out, looking weary.

He seemed to be telling Nora that he was very tired and sleepy, and driving was dangerous.

Nora's mouth twitched.

Did he think she couldn't tell he was pretending?

But...

While waiting for Magnus to fall asleep in the living room, Isaac had dozed off several times.

Even if he was pretending now, his poor mental state was a fact.

Isaac had come because she called him. If he had an accident due to fatigue, she wouldn't know how to explain it to Edmund.

Watching Isaac walk out of the room and about to close the door, Nora called out urgently, "Fine, you can sleep with us. Don't go back!"

After all, they would be sleeping with the kids in between, so he couldn't do anything inappropriate.

Isaac didn't come back in but closed the door.

Nora bit her lip in anger.

She had allowed him to stay, but he still left!

Did he not care about his life?

Nora glared at the closed door in frustration.

Two seconds later, she got out of bed, walked quickly to the door, opened it, and stepped out.

As soon as Nora stepped out, she was pulled into a strong, broad chest, startling her into a scream.

But her mouth was quickly covered.

"Shh, keep it down. Don't wake the kids," Isaac's smiling voice whispered in her ear.

Then, he spun her around, pressing her against the wall by the door, his deep eyes looking at her with a playful smile, "Darling, why did you rush out? Couldn't bear to see me leave?"

Nora angrily retorted, "No, I couldn't."

Isaac smiled, "I couldn't bear to leave you either."

With that, he lowered his head and kissed her lips.
