Chapter 94 Induced to Reveal the Reasons

Steve stared at Nora for a few seconds.

Then, he asked directly, "Did you spend a lot of money to make me fall in love with you because you thought I resembled your ex-husband?

"But now, you intentionally called me to your ex-husband's house, making me display our sweet relationship in front of him. Aren't you afraid of provoking him, making him angry, and causing him to dislike you?"

Nora's mood instantly became heavy.

"I want him to hate me, preferably to despise me," Nora said firmly.

Steve narrowed his eyes in doubt and asked in a deep voice, "Why?"

Nora shook her head, and replied, "I'm sorry, I can't tell you the reason. You just need to perform well with me in our loving act."

Steve persistently asked, "Do you no longer love him?"

"No," Nora denied instinctively.

"Since not, why do you deliberately provoke his aversion towards you?" Steve inquired.

Nora appeared hesitant to speak her mind.

But in the end, she did not reveal her true thoughts.

Although Steve made her feel like confiding in him. Some things are just not suitable to tell him.

"Don't ask so many questions, just do what I ask of you," Nora insisted.

Steve was relentless.

He was determined to find out the reason.

After calming down, he still felt that Nora's act of sending Kalista to his bed was very strange.

Even if Nora didn't like him and wanted to get rid of him, she could have used any other method, but it was unlikely she would resort to this method.

After all, Nora and Kalista had such deep enmity that she hated Kalista so much.

Not long ago, Kalista had severely injured her.

How could she help Kalista climb into his bed?

There was definitely something wrong with this situation.

Steve mentioned, "This morning when I left, I met your ex-husband,"

Nora was startled and immediately looked at him, and asked, concerned, "Did he give you a hard time?"

Isaac had warned her not to let Steve meet him, as he might not be kind to Steve.

She was worried that Steve might be mistreated.

"He didn't give me a hard time," Steve said in a low voice, "but he told me something."

Nora furrowed her brows, "What did he say?"

"He told me that you schemed against him and then sent Kalista to his bed," Steve revealed.

A hint of surprise appeared in Nora's eyes.

How could Isaac tell Steve about this?

Steve asked, "With your vengeful nature, how could you not only refrain from retaliating against Kalista but also cooperate with her, actively putting her in your ex-husband's bed?"

Nora instinctively clenched her fists.

"Do you have something compromising in her hands? Is she threatening you?" Steve inquired.

Nora shook her head, and answered, "No, I'm not being threatened by anyone."

"Then what is the reason for your actions?" Steve persistently asked.

Nora looked down, unwilling to answer.

Steve urged, "Tell me the reason, will you please? I promise not to tell anyone."

"You're pregnant now, don't keep everything to yourself, it will harm your health," Steve coaxed.

Nora struggled visibly.

She was indeed feeling overwhelmed and wanted to confide, but she couldn't.

Steve saw her wavering and softened his tone, continuing to coax her, "I can be your listener. You can tell me anything that bothers you. Even if I can't come up with a solution, it's better to speak out than to keep it inside."

Nora bit her lip.

After several minutes of silence, she spoke bitterly, "I didn't want to help Isaac and Kalista, but I had no choice.

"Now Edmund and Katie both think I'm carrying Isaac's child, and they are eagerly anticipating the birth of this child.

"But I know in my heart that this child is not Isaac's. Even if he is, I can't bring him into this world.

"If Edmund and Katie don't see the child born, it will surely be a shock to them, affecting their health.

"I'm afraid that the shock will endanger their lives. So, to reduce the shock to them, I can only let another woman carry Isaac's child, giving Edmund and Katie something else to look forward to.

"In this way, even if I lose the child in my belly, they will still have moral support."

As Nora spoke, tears streamed down her face.

Although it was her choice, she still felt deeply troubled.

Sending her enemy to her lover's bed.

That kind of pain was beyond what an ordinary person could bear.

She had been suppressing her emotions without anyone to confide in.

Now that she finally spoke out, her emotions collapsed instantly.

Perhaps because her relationship with Steve was the most straightforward, without too much emotional entanglement, she could release her emotions without reservation.

Steve's eyes dimmed slightly.

So, this was her plan.

She wanted to get rid of the child in her belly but didn't want to upset her grandparents, so she arranged this drama with Kalista.

Steve suppressed his emotions and focused on the key question, "Why are you in such a hurry to have another woman carry his child when you could wait for the baby to grow a bit and then do a DNA test to determine his paternity?"

Nora cried, "Even if the child is his, I can't bring the child into this world."

"Why?" Steve furrowed his brows in confusion.

She said she couldn't, not that she didn't want to.

What was she hiding from him?

Nora cried bitterly, shaking her head, refusing to reveal the truth.

She could talk about anything else, but the reason she couldn't have the child, she wouldn't disclose, just crying continuously.

Seeing her so heartbroken, Steve walked up to her, embraced her, and gently patted her back.
"Okay, I won't ask anymore. Whenever you're ready to talk, just let me know. Stop crying," he sighed helplessly.

In the face of her tears, he ultimately conceded.

Nora lay against his chest, crying inconsolably.

She confessed, "I feel so terrible. I never wanted to help him and Kalista. Seeing them together makes me feel like I can't breathe."

Nora continued, "But I personally sent Kalista to his bed. I used his trust in me, used his feelings for me, and schemed against him. I can never forgive myself."

She remembered the words Isaac had said to her that morning.

The more she thought about it, the more heartbroken she became.

Nora revealed, "Do you know? That morning, he told me he had always loved me, that I used his love for me to scheme against him, and now he only feels hatred towards me."

Suddenly, Nora smiled.

She stated, "I want him to hate me."

Steve furrowed his brows, looking at her with concern.

Was she losing her mind?

Why was she crying one moment and laughing the next?

And now she was starting to talk nonsense?
