Chapter 101 Is Darcy really his sister

Darcy always emerges as right and innocent, a virtuous soul with a kind heart. Yet is there a trace of narrow-mindedness within her?

A surge of frustration mingled with coldness welled up in Winnie’s eyes. A fiery blaze ignited within her, and she retorted, "Are you blaming me like this because of her?"

"I'm merely addressing the issue, not placing personal blame," L responded, his brows furrowing slightly as he softened upon seeing her teary eyes.

However, the next moment, a chill consumed the woman's heart as she pointed at him, cursing, "You may be an intelligent man, but your wisdom rivals that of a pig. Do you know why your beloved Darcy holds a grudge against me? Go and be with her, your good sister!"

"Say that again? You have no restraint yourself, you accuse Darcy and me. I dare say I've shown you too much leniency!"

L abruptly grasped her wrist, pressing her against the door. His anger manifested on her fair skin, leaving behind a crimson mark.

Winnie's eyes welled up with tears. Being accused like this was a new depth of indignity for her.

She forcefully pushed him away, her smile chillingly cold. "So, you've decided that I'm a promiscuous woman? Even if Rock and Daniel are innocent, your mind always gravitates towards my wrongdoing. And I bet Darcy is behind all this, stoking your suspicions to the brink!"

"Aren't you? I saw it with my own eyes! And at Golden Club, Darcy pleaded on your behalf. You really don't know what's good for you." L informed her.

So, he was also at Golden Club that day, and he brought Darcy along. Was it Darcy's intention to deliberately bring him there?

Ha, he didn't trust her at all. He even monitored her at workplace. Since he had already condemned her, there was nothing more to say.

"Is your beloved Darcy, right? Am I really guilty of immorality? Is that what you think?" Winnie's heart turned cold, and she didn't want to say another word.

She forcefully broke free from his cold embrace, which had caused her so much pain and stormed out.

Unbeknownst to her, Darcy watched Winnie’s departure in a fit of anger, a sly smile playing on her lips.

Just as Winnie walked out, a chilling figure materialized before her. L suddenly stood there, his gaze unfathomably icy, boring into her.

Darcy felt her heart skip a beat in response to this sensation.

L's eyes were as sharp as a knife as he interrogated her, "I tasked you with recommending a supplier to her. Why did you hide the fact that it was my suggestion?" he asked.

Darcy had already anticipated that Winnie might turn things around, so she had a plan in place.

Taken aback, she assumed a distressed expression and innocently shook her head, "Mr. L, could it be that Mrs. L misunderstood things? I didn't intentionally hide that it was your idea. I just thought Mrs. L might object if you took it upon yourself to help her. I didn't expect her to dislike me and reject my recommendation. It's completely my fault, isn't it?"

L forcefully cornered her against the wall, his chilling aura enveloping her as his piercing gaze seemed to tighten around her throat, devoid of any mercy. "No one can manipulate me, and it would be wise for you not to involve her. Do you understand?"

Darcy's heart shuddered, and tears swiftly welled up in her eyes. "Is it my foolishness that caused this misunderstanding? I will go and explain everything to Mrs. L!"

"No need, from this point forward...
"You hardly ever see her!" L grumbled unhappily. He still believed Darcy's explanation.

Winnie harbored deep animosity towards Darcy. If she hadn't been aware of is his good intentions and had instead approached Rock for raw stones, then...

Anger welled up in Lawrence's heart as he thought about what she had just said. But at the same time, he couldn't bring himself to confront her.

Darcy turned and left; her fingers clenched so tight they resembled layers of onion skin. She could clearly hear how intense their argument had been, yet Winnie's explanation had shaken her core. Her heart softened once again, unconditionally reshaping her perception of that contemptible person. She thought that Mr. L would soon go and placate Winnie once again.

No, this won't do.

Perhaps Mr. L had grown suspicious and wouldn't let her get close to Winnie anymore. Tonight, Winnie must encounter trouble! She must thoroughly disappoint Mr. L.

A malicious gleam flashed arose Darcy's eyes as she swiftly found Eva.

Eva seethed with anger as Winnie's expensive evening gown had been ruined by spilled juice. She had been able to remove the despicable person from the banquet, and Mr. L hadn’t spared her a glance!

"Eva..." Darcy's voice reached her.

Eva quickly moved towards a secluded pillar, and Darcy expressed her concern, "Are you hurt? Mrs. L did go too far. Even I couldn't bear to witness her unreasonable behavior, but Mr. L indulges her, and it's at your expense."

Eva held back her words, but her eyes welled up with tears and fury. "Darcy, she thinks she can rely on her looks and even has Rock protecting her. Wouldn’t Mr. L be upset? I truly want to reveal Mrs. L’s deceitful nature to him. It infuriates me to witness him being deceived by her!"

Darcy seized the opportunity. After a moment’s hesitation, she added, "Mrs. L might be trying to attract some business. There are numerous wealthy businessmen present tonight. However, I just saw her with Mr. Taylor in the garden... sigh, but we shouldn’t let Mr. L see that. If they seem close, it could be disastrous if Mr. L to misunderstand!"

Eva listened for a moment, then her eyes suddenly gleamed with malice. "Darcy, you've reminded me. This woman isn't morally upright at all. If she attempts to seduce Mr. Taylor, wouldn't that be expected? Hmph."

Darcy didn't overlook the foolish calculations in Eva’s eyes. Eva now held an extreme disdain for Winnie and had no inhibitions.

Having come this far, Eva didn't disappoint. She immediately asked, "Darcy, where can I find Winnie now?"

Darcy feigned ignorance and responded, "She just left the lounge. Is there something you need?"

"Heh, Darcy, just wait and see!" Eva said before departing.

Darcy folded her hands, a faint smile playing on her lips. Her almond-shaped eyes were both venomous and soothing. Everything was going according to her plan. She looked forward to seeing Winnie suffer a miscarriage and humiliation tonight. Would Mr. L still want her after that?

Winnie walked out of the banquet hall with a dazed expression. Unbeknownst to her, her eyes had grown moist. As the cold wind blew, it’s biting chill cut through her.

At that moment, she...

The man inside felt unfamiliar to her. He believed Darcy, refused to listen to her explanations, looked down on her, and assumed she engaged in dubious business dealings.

His paranoia and violent temper also frightened her. Initially, she saw him as dignified, mature, and determined. However, as they grew closer, she discovered his need for control and domineering nature, making it hard to breathe, and his moods became even more unpredictable.

Winnie couldn't help but feel lost. She cared for him, but was it truly right for her to be entangled with him? Were they genuinely compatible?

"Winnie?" The handsome Benjamin approached. He had just arrived.

Rumors had circulated that Mrs. L would attend the banquet, and Mr. L, lacking emotional intelligence, surprisingly brought Darcy as his companion... Mrs. L's hope for reconciliation were likely shattered.

"Are you leaving?" As expected, Benjamin noticed the glistening tears in the woman’s eyes.

Winnie gazed at Benjamin, confusion evident in her eyes, and abruptly asked in a chilly tone, "Benjamin, can I ask you a question? Is Darcy really Mr. L's sister?"

She had posed this question to Mr. L twice before, and he had affirmed it. However, Darcy's hostility had sowed seeds of doubt in Winnie’s mind.

Benjamin was taken aback. How could Darcy possibly be Mr. L's sister? She was ...
