Chapter 725 Sidney's Car Accident

Sidney was crying, "I'm at the hospital; the car's totally smashed."

Winnie listened, scared out of her mind. How could a kid like Sidney get into a car accident?

Winnie freaked out. "Okay, I'm coming. Don't cry; let the doctor check you out first."

After hanging up, Winnie rushed to the study to tell Rock.

She lied, saying she had some urgent work at the office.

If she mentioned Sidney, Rock might get upset about her being too close to Lawrence.

They had just argued at the police station that morning.

At the hospital.

Ray reluctantly drove over the Bentley that Lawrence had crashed a few days ago.

"Thanks for setting this up, Ray," Sidney's small voice was full of gratitude.

"You're unbelievable, always using the same trick to fool Winnie," Ray grumbled.

Lawrence, unfazed, instructed, "This dent isn't enough; drive it into that tree over there."

Ray said, "Are you nuts? You're broke now, Lawrence. How many Bentleys do you have left to crash?"

"There are still a few in the underground garage," Lawrence said nonchalantly.

Ray's face darkened.

Sidney also looked helplessly at Lawrence, saying, "Mom won't look that closely."

Ray retorted, "That's because you don't know her. She's now the junior director of the Blanchet Family. Do you think she's that easy to fool? Besides, didn't you say the car was completely wrecked?"

Sidney was speechless, "You're blaming me? If I hadn't exaggerated, would Mom have come? Remember when I got a fishbone stuck in my throat, you told me to say I needed surgery! You're the big liar; I learned it all from you."

"Shut up." Lawrence's stern face darkened, "Stop talking and get on the bed; she's coming."

Lawrence's deep eyes turned to Ray, "Did you bribe the doctor?"

Ray replied, "Don't worry; it's all set. The medical records are written, no loopholes."

Ray was completely speechless. To trick Winnie into coming, Lawrence had gone to great lengths.

Lawrence said, "Then you guys lie down quickly and apply more of the ointment."

Lawrence walked out with a dark face.

Soon, Winnie hurried to the hospital, pushed open the door to the ward.

Sidney, who was eating candy, almost choked. He quickly swallowed it, closed his eyes, and pretended to be unconscious in Lawrence's arms.

"Sidney," Winnie exclaimed when she saw Sidney lying on the bed.

"He just fell asleep," Lawrence said without a hint of guilt, looking at Winnie with a deep gaze.

Winnie nodded, took off her high heels, and walked in carefully in her socks.

Seeing Lawrence and Sidney sitting by the bed, Sidney quietly sleeping with tears still on his eyelashes, Winnie thought Sidney must have been terrified by the car accident and cried a lot.

The hospital lights gave a bleak feeling. When she suddenly saw the huge bandage on Sidney's forehead, her eyes turned red.

Suppressing some anger, she asked Lawrence, who was watching her, in a low voice, "What exactly happened? How could you let him get into a car accident?"

Seeing her so worried, Lawrence felt a trace of guilt flash in his deep eyes.

But Lawrence still lied without changing his expression, "I'm sorry. I didn't pay attention while driving. I've been very distracted lately. He was sitting in the back and got hurt. But Sidney had his seatbelt on, it's just some scratches on his forehead and arm; he's fine."

"This is fine?" Winnie glared at him, her eyes wide with motherly concern. "Sidney hasn't even caught a cold since he's been with me."

"Hey, you're so attentive and caring, and you're a doctor. Sidney must have been well taken care of by you," Lawrence said, trying to sound sincere.

Winnie felt uneasy, bending down to check Sidney's wound. "Let me see how bad the scratch on his forehead is."

Lawrence immediately tensed up. There was only a bit of ointment under the bandage. If she figured it out, it would be a problem.

Suddenly, he remembered she was a doctor and could easily tell Sidney's condition.

He quickly pinched Sidney's arm.

Sidney obediently started coughing, keeping his eyes tightly shut.

"What's wrong?" Winnie's attention shifted, and she got nervous again.

Lawrence quickly lied, "Sidney also has a bit of a cold. He had a fever the day before yesterday, so he's coughing badly."

Winnie was speechless, feeling both angry and heartbroken for Sidney.

She glared at Lawrence with red eyes. "What kind of father are you? You let him get hurt, and now he's caught a cold. How did he catch a cold?"

"Well, he kicked off the blanket at night," Lawrence casually made up a reason.

Sidney's face darkened, and he silently cursed, 'Clearly, it was you who stole the blanket, you insufferable fool.'

Winnie angrily asked, "Where was the nanny? Wasn't she watching him?"

"Sidney was sleeping with me. I've been very tired these days, so I slept too deeply," Lawrence said, feeling like he had shot himself in the foot. If he had known she would get angrier, he wouldn't have said Sidney had a cold.

Wasn't it to make Sidney's condition seem more serious?

Now it backfired, and he was in trouble, too.

Winnie gritted her teeth, incredulous. "I really wonder how you managed to take care of him until he was three. Didn't you say you were good at taking care of him? And you don't even know to cover him with a blanket. Taking care of a child, you can't sleep too deeply at night. When I used to take care of Oscar, I would hold his little hand. If he moved, I would wake up to check on him." She rambled on.

Unexpectedly, Lawrence's deep eyes looked at her small face, filled with tenderness and nostalgia.

Lawrence smiled guiltily, "I always knew you were a good mother. Winnie, men are not as meticulous as women. I'll learn from you in the future; don't despise me."

Winnie was stunned.

Especially seeing such a cold and arrogant man looking at her with a flattering expression, his eyes deep and charming due to faint smile lines, like a tamed lion, gentle and affectionate.

Winnie swallowed her saliva speechlessly, feeling very uncomfortable.

She cleared her throat lightly. "No need for your praise. No matter how hard it was, I raised Oscar. You do lack some skills in taking care of daily life. I mainly want to say since you want to take Sidney, you have to be responsible for him."

"Yeah, you're right," Lawrence said with a faint smile.

Lawrence's slightly moving eyes were filled with affection, making Winnie very uncomfortable.

'What's the matter with him today? He's been acting strange lately, obediently admitting his mistakes like a well-behaved student,' Winnie thought.

But knowing him deep down, Winnie was sure he was just a bad student pretending to be good.

Winnie endured the awkward feeling, stood up coldly. "Alright, Sidney is sick. I won't argue with you; it's pointless."

"Are you staying in the hospital tonight?" Lawrence asked.
