Chapter 968 Clarify for Her

"It was recently reported that Jake was involved in Joshua's death, but an insider revealed that the real murderer has already been arrested by the police. Jake has no direct connection to the murder case. He is currently hospitalized for heart surgery. The rape incident has been revisited and clarified. Olivia did not have any relations with Sam, nor was she raped. Please stop spreading false rumors about her!"

Two segments of news played alternately.

Olivia's eyes widened gradually, unable to snap out of her shock.

Who was helping her...

The servants ahead didn't notice her, whispering in amazement, "This has Mr. DeRoss written all over it. For Ms. Smith in there, he helped her reclaim her family assets and clear her name!"

"I'm so excited. You know, Mr. DeRoss is so handsome. Why does he only like that woman in there? She's not even that pretty."

"Are you dumb? She had a child with Mr. DeRoss. I heard they've been entangled for three years. The butler said Mr. Jeremy took the child to see Mr. Louis DeRoss this morning. The woman in there might become Mr. Jeremy's wife..."

"Stop talking."

Another servant suddenly noticed Olivia, awkwardly nudging the other.

Both servants turned around to see Olivia standing behind them, her face complex and cheeks flushed, her eyes misty as she listened to their conversation, somewhat dazed.

"Ms. Smith, you're awake?" One servant immediately stepped forward.

The other reached out to turn off the TV.

Olivia stopped them, her gaze fixed on the TV still playing the news about her cleared rumors, her thoughts stirring, "Please, let me watch a bit more."

The two servants exchanged glances.

"Ms. Smith, are you feeling unwell? I'll get the doctor to check on you!"

One servant quickly left the room.

After the news ended, Olivia withdrew her gaze, her eyes clear and moist. She looked around the room, wanting to ask about Jeremy, but changed her mind, "Do you know where Mia is?"

"Ms. Mia DeRoss is naturally with Mr. Jeremy DeRoss. This morning, Mr. Jeremy DeRoss brought Ms. Mia DeRoss to your bedside. Ms. Mia DeRoss wanted to see you, but you hadn't woken up yet..."

As the servant spoke, steady footsteps echoed from the suite entrance, heavy and unmistakably male.

Olivia's eyes lifted slightly. A man with long legs wrapped in tailored trousers strode in.

Her gaze traveled up, seeing him in a white shirt tucked into his pants, his physique tall and lean, yet muscular and defined. His handsome face was framed by a pair of refined half-rim glasses, giving him a scholarly yet cold demeanor.

Jeremy also noticed Olivia's scrutinizing gaze.

Her round eyes were bright and wide open. Her thick lashes fluttered, giving the impression that she was particularly focused and serious when looking at someone.

Being stared at like this made the usually composed Jeremy feel a slight tinge of discomfort in his earlobes.

"Awake?" Jeremy tilted his deep-set eyes, raised a hand to his thin lips, and lightly coughed, his gaze involuntarily returning to her face, "Why are you staring at me? Did waking up make you dumb?"

"I... no." Olivia's heart raced from the impact of the news, and seeing Jeremy now, her emotions were a whirlwind.

She felt a bit uneasy, especially noticing the two servants tactfully leaving the room.

In the vast space, it was just the two of them, with Jeremy's presence filling the air.

Her ears warmed as she realized he was standing close, just half a step away. His long legs were strikingly straight, and her gaze darted nervously, "Jeremy, where's Mia?"

"She's downstairs. This morning, she went to see my father."

"Okay."

Olivia felt a bit dazed, her head suspiciously lowered, her small hands tightly clenched.

Jeremy frowned, reaching out to loosen her tightly clasped fingers, "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell? Should I call the doctor?"

Olivia glanced behind him, seeing no doctor. The servant must have lied, going to inform him instead, which explained his quick arrival.

His touch on her fingertips felt different, Jeremy's warmth seemed to transfer over.

She lifted her hand to tuck a stray lock of hair behind her ear, shaking her head lightly, "I'm not unwell."

"Then what's wrong? Do you want to see Mia?"

He leaned closer, his voice deepening.

The tall shadow and his rich voice were too close.

Olivia felt her breath hitch, her lashes fluttering as she finally looked up at him, "I saw on the news that Noah handed over his shares, and the DeRoss Group's legal team was shown. And... the rumors about me from three years ago were cleared by an insider. But... it was actually you behind all this, right?"

Her voice softened at the end.

Jeremy tightly held her gaze, his eyes tracing from her slightly messy hair, down her nose, and finally locking onto her red lips.

When she spoke, they moved slightly, looking quite attractive.

Jeremy's lips curved up slightly, his mood lifting, "You saw it all? Yes, it was me."

"Why... why did you help me, help my family?"

Hearing him admit it so openly, Olivia felt even more embarrassed, feeling like she owed him a huge favor.

"Why?" Jeremy stepped closer, his chin almost touching her small head, gazing at her adorable face, his voice husky, "You tell me why. For you, for Mia, to make up for past mistakes. Besides, isn't it my duty to clear obstacles and restore the reputation of my woman?"

"Who, who is your woman?" Olivia's ears turned red, hurriedly looking up to refute him.

Jeremy held her slender fingers.

She tried to pull away.

He didn't let her, his strong hand gripping hers, and as her eyes flickered, he leaned down, frowning seriously, "I brought you to the DeRoss Villa. My father and everyone here knows what I mean. I don't believe you can't guess? This morning, I took Mia to see my father. Though he didn't say anything, it was clear he liked Mia. She's naturally sweet and charming. My father even asked me, now that I have a daughter, when will I have a son to inherit the DeRoss Family? I joked that I also want a son, but I'm still looking for a wife."

His deep eyes bore into hers, intense and slightly mischievous.

The heat of his breath almost made Olivia unable to breathe, let alone face his straightforward intentions.

He helped Jake reclaim the company, protected her reputation, and now... what was he trying to say?
