Chapter 720 Standoff at the Police Station

Just as Winnie spun around, Rock's eyes went from icy cold to straight-up pissed. "How could you still be talking to him behind my back?"

He stormed over, grabbed Winnie, and shot daggers at Lawrence.

Lawrence's eyes narrowed, all frosty. "Which one of your eyes saw her reaching out to me? Am I not allowed to talk to her?"

Winnie's face went pale under Rock's accusation.

But soon enough, her gaze turned chilly, and she yanked her hand from Rock's grip, saying weakly, "It's my fault. I shouldn't have contacted him. But only Lawrence knows where that factory is. And before this, I called you first, asking you to find it, but you kept saying you couldn't and then suddenly had to go to a meeting."

Rock's eyes darkened as he realized he kinda brought this on himself.

He hid his irritation and sighed deeply, "Winnie, you gotta understand, it's not like I didn't want to help, but Trento City is huge, with so many factories, I really don't know where it is."

"The meeting came up outta nowhere. I actually wanted to help you right away. After Sierra told me, didn't I leave the meeting and come over immediately?" Rock explained.

Winnie listened, thoughtfully looking at his gentle face.

"Rock, maybe you're super busy. I'm not doubting you, but with your resources, you really couldn't find the factory?

"Actually, Olivia probably didn't go to the factory, because Nelson said she was seen at The Midnight Lounge Club. She seemed to be busy with something else those days, investigating someone. Rock, do you know The Midnight Lounge Club? Can you help me find out who Olivia was investigating there?" Winnie begged.

Winnie couldn't deny her questions were sharp. She stared into Rock's eyes.

Deep in Rock's eyes, there was a fierce tremor.

Winnie actually knew about The Midnight Lounge Club. What was she getting at? It felt like she was implying something.

No, Rock needed to stay cool.

His gaze stayed steady, pretending to be surprised. "Ms. Smith is missing? She’s investigating someone? If you don't know, how would I know? As for The Midnight Lounge Club, I think it's a famous nightclub, but the Harrington Group never entertains clients there, so I'm not familiar with it."

Winnie pondered, 'Bentley's investigation said that even if Rock entertained clients, he never brought women. He's very self-disciplined. Had he really never been to The Midnight Lounge Club?'

And Lawrence, listening on the side, shot a cold glance at Rock.

Lawrence knew The Midnight Lounge Club. He heard it was now bought by Mars, a place for bribing officials.

Rock and Mars had been mixed up together for a long time, and he claimed not to know The Midnight Lounge Club?

Lawrence let out a cold laugh. "Mr. Harrington, do you really not know The Midnight Lounge Club, or are you just pretending?"

"I don't know means I don't know. What are you getting at?" Rock looked at him, annoyed.

Winnie also looked at Lawrence.

Lawrence casually let out a sharp remark, "Winnie, you said Olivia went to The Midnight Lounge Club to investigate someone? A woman going to a club, isn't it usually to investigate her man or a friend's husband? But Olivia doesn't have a boyfriend, so assuming she was investigating Mr. Harrington isn't impossible. The question is, what problem does Mr. Harrington have that would make Olivia investigate him? If Mr. Harrington had nothing to hide, he wouldn't have lied about not finding the factory and kept stalling you,"

"Rock, what are you feeling guilty about? You just don't want Winnie to go to the factory because she won't find Olivia there, right?" Lawrence pressed.

Rock was floored. Damn, Lawrence was getting way too close to the truth about him messing with Olivia.

His gut instinct was spot on.

And Winnie was stunned at Lawrence's theory.

She had a fleeting thought that Olivia might be investigating Rock.

But Lawrence's logic made sense, too. If Olivia was investigating Rock, did Rock sense it and deliberately not tell her the factory's address to keep her from finding Olivia?

"What crap are you spewing?" Rock suddenly cut in, his usually calm face now twisted with anger, pointing at Lawrence. "Lawrence, how dare you keep slandering me in front of Winnie. Winnie, I didn't hide the factory's location from you. I said I was always helping you find it! You're just impatient and went to ask him. If we follow his logic, the cops wouldn't need to solve cases anymore. Ms. Smith goes to a club to investigate a friend's man? Lawrence, just say she's investigating me."

"I have a clear conscience. Winnie, if you don't trust me, you can investigate me, too!" Rock shouted, full of confidence.

After all, he knew Winnie had investigated him before and had prepared for it.

Winnie frowned, her eyes flickering.

Rock began to speak with deep emotion, "Winnie, if a few words from him can make you doubt me, I can only say I'm very disappointed. I've done so much for you over the past three years. If you think Ms. Smith's disappearance is related to me, it's okay."

"Officer, call your chief over! Tell him the president of the Harrington Group wants to see him," Rock said, full of excitement.

The officer looked at Lawrence with difficulty. Although he was a confidant of the Rodriguez Family, he was still just a police officer.

He had no choice but to find the chief.

Hearing that the president of the Harrington Group, who had been making waves in Trento City recently, wanted to see him, the chief rushed over immediately.

The chief didn't even glance at Lawrence, nodding and bowing as he walked up to Rock. "Mr. Harrington, hello. What brings you to the police station?"

Winnie was speechless at the chief.

While she was stunned, Rock pulled her into his arms and solemnly said to the chief, "My wife's good friend, Olivia, is missing. I ask the police to immediately file a case and investigate!"

Rock added, "Find out her whereabouts over the past few days, and don't let anyone off. I will fully follow up on this matter. By the way, Ms. Smith texted Winnie saying she was going to a seaside factory. Please send the police to find this place and look for Ms. Smith,"

After he finished speaking, he held Winnie's hand with a calm expression and said angrily, "Winnie, are you relieved now? You heard it. I asked the chief to personally file the case! If I were a suspect, would I dare to do this? Lawrence is purely slandering me, trying to break us apart. Don't fall for it!"

Rock gripped Winnie's hands, glaring coldly at Lawrence.

Winnie remained silent. Actually, she was a bit shocked when Rock called the chief over.

Actually, if Rock were guilty, would he dare to ask the police to investigate Olivia himself? Wouldn't that harm him? His aggrieved look didn't seem fake either.
