Chapter 645 A Two-faced Woman
"His company, the Harrington Group, is now one of the top five in Trento City. He's achieved so much at a young age and is already famous in Lymington. A guy like him is rare, and what's even rarer is that he's totally devoted to you. I think he's great, and you shouldn't let him go."
Elliott made his point clear.
Winnie looked down, embarrassed. Rock was so nicethat she didn't know how to face him.
"Take Rock upstairs to rest," Elliott said.
Winnie, usually quiet, waited until Elliott went inside before she hesitantly turned to Rock.
"Rock, I'm sorry. Oscar finally came back tonight, so I need to spend time with my two sons."
"Of course, they must have a lot to say to you." Rock smiled understandingly and coughed lightly. "I'll just sleep in the guest room."
Winnie knew avoiding him wasn't a solution. She bit her lip and finally spoke up, "Rock, let's find a time to get the divorce papers done."
Rock froze.
His gentle face instantly turned grim, a cold glint in his eyes. "Why? Winnie, can't you get Lawrence out of your mind?"
"No, it's not that."
Winnie gave a bitter smile, both candid and ashamed. "Rock, I just don't want to lie to you. During my time on the island, I had an ambiguous relationship with Lawrence. He kept pressuring me to get pregnant to make me stay with him. But I didn't let him succeed; I didn't get pregnant. Still, I am sorry for you. I can't face you and your family anymore. Moreover, everyone is mocking you because of me. You deserve a better woman. Let's end this."
Rock held a bottle of water, hiding the hatredin his eyes. When he looked up again, his face was full of deep affection.
He gently held her shoulders. "Winnie, let me ask you one more time. Did you willingly sleep with him?"
"No, I didn't!" Winnie shook her head, felt shame and anger about those days and nights on the island.
"That's all that matters," Rock pulled her closer and said softly. "When a wife is unfortunately kidnapped, should her husband hope she fights to the death against the assailant's abuse, or should she endure it to stay alive? I don't know what other men would choose. Winnie, my answer is the latter. To me, nothing is more important than your safety. Really, I only care about you."
"Rock." Winnie's heart trembled, her eyes red.
"When I met you three years ago, I knew your situation very well. I never cared about your chastity, you know that."
Rock said tenderly, "Why would I blame you for what happened on our wedding day? I only blame myself for not being strong enough as a husband, and for not daring to call the police for my parents' safety. Actually, these days I've been more anxious than you. I was afraid you'd come back and despise me for being incompetent and not protecting you in time."
"Don't say that." Winnie shook her head. "Rock, I understand you. If it were me, I wouldn't have called the police either. It's all because Lawrence is too despicable."
"He is despicable. He did all those bad things, including forcing you to slept with him! He must have thought that after I rescued you, I would despise you and couldn't accept your impurity. But he was wrong. My love for you, Winnie, surpasses worldly norms and is no less than his. I just want you to come back safely."
As he spoke, he suddenly became sorrowful and hugged her tightly. "Winnie, sometimes I wonder why God gives us so many trials. I just love you. What did I do wrong? Why is it so hard for us? I've waited for you to agree to marry me for three years, and then an accident happened. If you really feel guilty towards me, please make it up to me in the future."
Looked at his bloodshot eyes, Winnie felt herself despicable more. She was moved by Rock. She had been thinking all night about deciding to separate from him. But now, she wavered again.
It was she who wanted to marry him in the first place, to save Oscar. It was also she who caused him to be ridiculed when the wedding went wrong. After he rescued her, she wanted a divorce. Of course, he couldn't accept it, and she indeed felt guilty towards him. She owed Rock too much.
With his deep affection for her, if she insisted on separating from him, it would not only hurt him but also let Lawrence win.
"Winnie, don't scare me with divorce anymore." Rock looked at her gently. "And don't overthink it. Maybe you just came back and your mind and emotions are all over the place. So, I won't stay here tonight, okay? Take a good rest for the next couple of days. You also need to take over the matters of Eternity Jewelry Co., Ltd and the Blanchet family company. I'll come to pick you up in a few days to move to our new villa."
"Okay, Rock."
In the end, Winnie agreed. Whether from a moral or emotional perspective, she knew she had to make it up to him. Moreover, his initiative not to stay tonight indeed made her breathe a sigh of relief. She was grateful for Rock's understanding in not forcing her to do anything. She couldn't accept being with Rock tonight after being with Lawrence on the island a few days ago, even if it was just sharing the same room. She felt impure.
Rock left the Dazzling Estate villa. In the car, Rock's gentle look gradually turned cold and indifferent.
'Winnie actually wanted a divorce? Ha, how could I possibly agree?'
Rock didn't believe for a second that Winnie wasn't willing to intimate with Lawrence. From the video Lawrence sent, she was moaning and trembling in his arms!
He would repay the humiliation slowly. Despite liking Winnie for so long, he realized she had deceived him. It seemed all women in the world were the same!
Back at the new villa, Sierra, in a fiery red nightgown, immediately clung to him, wrapping herself around Rock's waist coquettishly. "Rock, I thought you weren't coming back tonight."
"If I didn't come back, where would you want me to go?"
Rock's cold face showed a wicked smile. He looked at Sierra's young figure. Although she wasn't as stunningly beautiful as Winnie, at least Sierra was obedient to him, always trying to please him, which greatly boosted his male ego.
"I heard you rescued Winnie."
Sierra sat on his lap, her eyes filled with pitiful charm. "I'm so worried that now that if you have her, you won't want me anymore. After all, she is your legal wife, but..."
"But what?" Rock undid her robe, his Adam's apple moving darkly.
Sierra hesitated, looking at him. "I heard people at the Harrington Group saying that Winnie was taken for so long, she might get pregnant. Ah!"
Her neck was suddenly gripped by a large hand.
