Chapter 257 Marriage Certificate in Hand

"I slapped Darcy because she deserved it. You, as a mistress, have been unlawfully occupying my husband for three years. Shouldn't I have slapped you? It was actually polite of me not to cripple you!"

After saying that, Winnie slowly revealed a marriage certificate, a striking red document that caught everyone's attention!

She opened it, with her and Lawrence R's photo clearly visible. "Until now, I am still Lawrence R's original wife. Miss Ordelia presumes to be his fiancée, openly flaunting her affection with my husband. I'd like to ask, what gives you the right!”

“Three years ago, when you had a grand engagement, I hadn't even divorced yet. Mr. Rodriguez, do you think your power and influence would exempt you from the crime of bigamy?” Winnie continued the venom in her tone unmistakable.

“Just now, Miss Ordelia boasted to me in the restroom, inciting Mr. Rodriguez to take away my Triton. And they are planning to hold a wedding one month later. As a slighted woman, I couldn't bear it any longer, so I resorted to violence against the mistress.”

“Does Mr. Rodriguez accept this reason?" She finished her speech in one breath, smiling coldly.

Darcy stared at the marriage certificate, her face turning pale and her eyes feeling cold. She immediately looked at Lawrence R!

The man's gaze was icy, as he fixated on Winnie. "How did you get this?"

Three years ago, they had a contractual marriage, and he had been keeping the marriage certificate!

Winnie raised her eyebrows. "Thanks for reminding me this morning. We haven't registered our divorce yet."

The truth was, she couldn't bear to leave the jerk. When they signed the divorce agreement, she secretly took this one from the bedroom.

Later, she hid it in the newly purchased apartment and forgot about it until this afternoon. She had a feeling that it would come in handy.

Tonight, Darcy wanted to take over her company, solidify her position as Mrs. Rodriguez, and have Lawrence R announce their engagement.

Just now, she had been subtly and overtly mocking her. How could she not give them a big surprise?

"You disappeared for three years, and we've been separated for two years. Legally, if anyone needs to file for divorce, it should've been me, and we would've divorced long ago!" Lawrence R gritted his teeth.

"Blame yourself for not applying then." Winnie snapped back.

Winnie glanced at the infuriated Darcy and chuckled, "What's this? Mr. Rodriguez, do you still have illusions about the infamous me? Is that why you haven't filed for divorce yet?"

"You're dreaming. I just forgot. Shameless woman!" Lawrence R responded harshly.

Winnie didn't care, smiling with a playful expression, "Now, as long as I don't divorce, Miss Ordelia, It seems like that wedding in a month may actually be a dream.

"I tarnish my reputation without Miss Ordelia's concern, for you are just a mistress," Winnie declared boldly. With a graceful gesture, she extended her finger and smiled triumphantly. Rock, who had remained silent until now, responded in kind.

"Wait a moment, Winnie," he said, holding her hand and leading her off the stage.

Alan sneered as he glanced at Lawrence R, who clenched his teeth. He added fuel to the fire, chasing after them, "Miss Anderson, please wait for me too!"

Everyone watched intently, the atmosphere quietened down as they observed Winnie's audacious departure.

Meanwhile, the gazes of some debutantes and esteemed ladies shifted when they looked at Darcy. The public opinion began to change.

"So, Darcy became the mistress three years ago, and now she's taking the place of the wife."

"Back then, Lawrence R hadn't even divorced yet. How shameless of her!"

"After being a mistress for so many years, she shamelessly presents herself as Mrs. Rodriguez and flaunts her power in Lymington. Isn't she just relying on the Ordelia surname? She seems like a scheming bitch. Earlier, she kept slandering Winnie."
These high-class ladies, on the surface, flattered Darcy due to Trento City, the Ordelia family, and Lawrence R.

But secretly, they harbored resentment and were skilled at changing their loyalty when the wind blew.

... The crowd whispered and gesticulated, leaving Darcy with a frozen face, almost fainting from anger!

Unfortunately, she couldn't explode in front of Mr. L. Instead, she stared fiercely at Winnie's figure with resentment. That wretched woman! She actually took out the marriage certificate.

Fuming with anger, she turned to the man next to her, his face equally grim, and asked, "Mr. L... Why didn't you get a divorce certificate when we agreed that you would separate back then?"

It was such a simple matter; they could have called someone from the County Office. Why didn't he do it? And in these three years, he hadn't applied for a divorce. Could it be...

"Mr. L, you haven't even divorced yet. So how are we supposed to get married?" Darcy, feeling lost, expressed her grievances softly.

"I'm sorry, I didn't pay attention," Lawrence R apologized, squeezing her hand in reassurance.

However, his gaze shifted to the retreating figure of the woman with two men, and a dark cloud washed over his eyes.

Unable to control himself, he hastily found an excuse as he took quick steps and said, "I'm going to force her to get the divorce certificate! Darcy, go to the lounge and find Sidney. Don't let him wander around!" Especially when it comes to Winnie!

"Mr. L..." Darcy tried to speak but hesitated, only to see the man walking away swiftly.

Watching his back as he approached that wretched woman, Darcy's expression grew even gloomier. She couldn't rest assured!

Biting her lip, she didn't actually go to the lounge, turning around instead to follow them.

In the corridor of the backyard,

Winnie glanced at Alan and spoke indifferently, "Alan, your sponsored performance for tonight is done. You may leave now."

"What? Once you've used me, you're off on a rendezvous with your lover?" Alan glanced at Rock.

Winnie knew that Alan couldn't bite his tongue, so she raised an eyebrow and said, "Yes, why wouldn't I be with him as well?"

"Ahem!" Rock felt a bit embarrassed now.

He smiled gently and said, "Why don't you go to the restroom first? We don't live far away, and we can discuss some matters later."

Winnie knew he was referring to tonight's auction. It would probably be challenging for Triton to end up in their hands without encountering any difficulties.

She nodded and walked into the restroom.

Just as she finished touching up her makeup, her wrist was suddenly pulled towards the wall by a strong force.

A tall shadow cast over her, and when Winnie looked up, her eyes were cold, but her mouth formed a smile.

"Mr. Rodriguez, what are you doing? Having an affair?"

Another flirtatious remark of "Mr. Rodriguez." Lawrence R looked deeply into her eyes, as if trying to peel off her surface and see the face beneath.

He furrowed his brow, mocking her with disdain, "Haven't you been having an affair with Rock or Alan? After three years, you've become even more despicable. Since we don't have a divorce certificate, have some self-control. If you dare to cuckold me, you're asking for death!"

Winnie paused for a moment, then laughed. He had heard what she said to Alan outside.

Stepping forward, she grabbed his tie. This man was indeed repulsive, but even in a shirt and tie, he still looked stunning.

At that moment, from the corner of Winnie's eye, she caught sight of a woman lurking outside the restroom.

Winnie shifted her gaze and playfully patted his chest. "You're cheating on Miss Ordelia while following me and cornering me in the restroom. What exactly do you want to do? Do you want me to see a doctor?"

Her soft and alluring words, followed by a warm breath, almost brushed against his neck like feathers.
Lawrence R's Adam's apple twitched, and his body stiffened for a moment.

He immediately gripped her hand, his voice deep and contemptuous, "Spare me the disgust. Go get the divorce certificate with me as soon as possible and don't delay me from marrying Darcy!"

Winnie's heart, filled with hatred as it was, still faltered upon hearing those words. With a carefree smile, she said,

"The more desperate you are to marry her, the less I want to help you. If you want me to divorce, show some sincerity. For example, hand Triton over to me. Or, make Darcy stop manipulating my uncle's case."

"Why would Darcy interfere in your uncle's case?" Lawrence R narrowed his eyes.

"Don't you know?" Winnie didn't believe him, jerk.

"I don't care about your family's affairs!" Lawrence R spoke coldly.

Three years ago, she had abandoned him, causing their son's death and escaping. For him, not seeking retribution against Elliott was an act of mercy.

In fact, these three years of isolation were deliberate attempts to distance himself from these matters and allow himself to breathe.

"Miss Anderson, you've gone too far. Why are you slandering me as soon as you return?"
Darcy, who had eavesdropped outside the door, couldn't stand still any longer and rushed in—
