Chapter 123 The Rightful Fiancée

L still had to rush back to the company.

After returning to the villa, Winnie had dinner with Madam Rodriguez. Madam Rodriguez seemed to have seen the real ultrasound image and couldn't stop smiling all day. She looked at Winnie hesitantly, as if she had something big to share, but she couldn't tell her.

Winnie was puzzled. She was just pregnant with one child, so why was Madam Rodriguez so happy, as if she was expecting twins, to pop out of Winnie.

Darcy was in her apartment, waiting quietly for nightfall. Then she called Ray ...
No matter when she reached out to him, he would always be there without hesitation.

Throughout these years, she had shamelessly enjoyed his affection. What if Laura found a way to marry him? She was nothing but a pitiful creature.

As expected, when Ray heard her voice trembling with sobs, he immediately said he would come to see her.

Darcy smiled and hung up the phone. She had a few glasses of wine. Just then, the doorbell rang, and it was Ray clashing with the bodyguards outside.

Even with Mr. L's bodyguards guarding her, they couldn't stop Mr. Martin. That's why she came up with this plan.

Darcy quickly pulled at her collar, making herself appear slightly disheveled. With a loud crash, she smashed a wine glass.

Ray heard it from outside the door and immediately kicked the door open with his long legs.
The man in the thin gray coat, exuding an air of coldness, barged in, "Darcy!"

He swiftly supported the swaying woman, and Darcy, looking up with a half-smile and teary eyes, said, "Ray, you're here."

"Why did you drink so much? Don't you know your stomach is fragile?" Ray furrowed his thick eyebrows.

The woman looked at him pitifully, soon shedding tears. "You're so good to me, Ray. You care about my weak stomach, but L doesn't know anything. After all these years of treating him so well, he actually believed the words of Winnie and dismissed me from my position today. I'm really upset..."

Her sobs were heart-wrenching. Ray's face turned cold, "Once again, L has hurt you. What did that Winnie do? I've told you before, don't meddle in other people's affairs. You're just too kind."

Darcy's eyes flashed. She knew how to establish an innocent and kind image in front of men.
By maintaining a close friendship with Ray, she intentionally or unintentionally revealed the things she did to help Winnie.

In Ray's eyes, she was undoubtedly a goddess.

Darcy shook her head as if in despair. "Maybe I didn't have any ill intentions, but others might think so. It's the same with Laura. Although she took you away from me, I have no feelings for you, and I never wanted to hold you back. I truly wished for your happiness with her."

"Forget it. That woman is full of schemes. Hasn't she been causing trouble for you since childhood?" Ray mentioned Laura, his tone cold and indifferent as he spoke.

Darcy smiled inwardly. She hadn't forgotten about troubling Laura.

She casually mentioned, "Today, Winnie presented evidence claiming that Laura told her you helped me find international judges. Winnie..." she continued sobbing out.

“Winnie misunderstood my intentions with Ava, How could I? I love L so much that I had already given up on him when Winnie pretended to marry him, but she kept pressuring me. Ray, why do they all bully me? I can't stand it either! Clearly, I am L's rightful fiancée! Winnie stole my love, and I had backed off, yet she still pushes me..."

Ray frowned deeply as he listened, feeling a chill in his heart. No wonder Winnie was so malicious; she was Laura's friend.

"You're too foolish. You shouldn't have let it happen in the first place. L was supposed to marry you in a year." Ray reminded her.

"I can't say anything about that," Darcy replied with a pitiful and aggrieved expression, "L hid it from Winnie. He doesn't want us to tell her."

"What? That damn guy even hid your status? Is he even a man?" Ray's face darkened, feeling the injustice towards Darcy on a personal level.

Darcy desired this effect, so she approached him, as she knew he would be easily manipulated.
L had concealed Darcy's identity as his fiancée, and she dared not defy him. Jeremy and Benjamin also didn't dare to betray him.

So Winnie had never known Darcy's true identity. That night at the Hot Spring Resort, when the man heartlessly said Darcy was his sister, it hurt her deeply.

But she endured it, pretending to be his sister to gain his trust, waiting for the opportunity to get rid of Winnie and have L to herself. But now, Winnie had ruined her plan and struck back, leaving her defeated.

Someone had to tell Winnie the secret of this fiancée! No one dared to, except Ray, who had always been on somewhat bad terms with L. She had chosen Ray for the task this afternoon.

After all, this man liked her and would listen to her. Darcy sneered inwardly, watching Ray's anger quietly. She even gently reminded him, "Never mind, I'll bear this injustice. Don't go to Winnie and L and say anything. Perhaps I am destined not to marry L. It really hurts considering all these years and all my efforts for L and the company."

"You shouldn't have to endure such injustice!" Ray felt indignant on her behalf, his expression turning cold. "Don't worry, I will ensure justice for you."

Darcy looked at him, moved. "I'm glad to have your support, Ray. Maybe I should like you... I fell in love at first sight with L a month before I met you. But you are truly wonderful, you know?"

Ray's heart skipped a beat. He always remembered how she had desperately saved him when he was almost freezing to death at the bottom of the glacier lake. That gratitude was deeply buried in his heart. "Darcy, you're wonderful too."

Darcy, heavily intoxicated, lifted her head and leaned towards him. In that moment, their lips almost touched. But suddenly, a resistance flashed through Ray's eyes. Then, Laura's ice-cold and charming lips and their sweet taste invaded his mind.

Ray instinctively pushed Darcy away and whispered, "Darcy, you're drunk, and I am not L."
Darcy froze for a moment, she had only wanted to flirt with this man and gain his favor. Taking advantage of the situation, she pretended to be drunk.

Seeing her asleep, Ray let out a sigh of relief. Suppressing his anger, he picked her up and laid her on the bed.

With a quick adjustment of his collar, he swiftly left the room and lit a cigarette before exiting the apartment. As Darcy opened her eyes on the bed, she caught a glimpse of his departure and traced her lips slowly.

Inside the villa, Winnie sat on the bedroom's cashmere carpet.

Olivia spoke to her over the phone, "Winnie, you did a fantastic job today! Now L can see how hypocritical Darcy is. Get rid of her quickly!"

That was exactly what Winnie wanted. Her goal was to make Darcy leave L, forever. However, she had no idea how deeply involved their work was. Lost in thought, a strange number dialed in.

Curiously, Winnie answered, and a distinct deep male voice came from the other end, "Miss Anderson? This is Ray."
