Chapter 132 Darcy's Subordinates

Winnie sighed and picked up the nameplate hanging on her chest. She hailed a taxi and headed straight to the Kingdom Estates building.

A majestic real estate company stood before her, known for leading the market. Winnie registered her name at the front desk, and Luke himself came down, smiling, to escort her up.

On the 50th floor, a grand CEO office lay behind floor-to-ceiling glass windows. A man stood there, his imposing figure exuding strength and sternness. Clad in a black suit, he appeared even more profound. It was not just his work that lent him charm; he added radiance to this building.

Winnie was awestruck by his aura. This was her first time witnessing him at work. From head to toe, he exuded the commanding presence of a CEO. It made Winnie wonder if he was just the owner of Kingdom Estates.

As Winnie gazed at him, L also glanced at her, his eyes fixated on the nameplate hanging from her chest.

A slight arc formed on the man's thin lips. Amidst the gaze of the entire staff, he faintly waved to her and asked, "Have you made your decision?"

"Yes." Winnie blushed slightly, composed herself, and walked towards him earnestly.

L did not avoid her presence. He took her hand and stood beside her, knocking twice on the table by their side.

The entire floor fell silent, including the high-level shareholders who had just dispersed from their morning meeting.

They all stared at the cold and stern man.

L looked up, his tone cold and imposing. "Allow me to introduce our new Vice President, Winnie. She will be assisting me with some of the work. I expect everyone to cooperate with her."

As his words fell, no one dared to speak, but their gazes changed.

Darcy had just been taken away from the office two days ago, and now a new female Vice President had arrived. Could this be the rumored... temporary Mrs. L?

Winnie quickly introduced herself, and the room fell into silence. She looked around and noticed several unfriendly glances. Upon recalling, those were the same people who had stared at her strangely when she accompanied Darcy to the hospital for a report.

"Alright, everyone disperses!" L's voice was serious and cold as he waved his hand. "Luke, take the Vice President to her office."

Winnie followed Luke to an office that had been freshly arranged. Luke handed her some transition documents and introduced her new assistant. "Vice President, this is your secretary, Milly."

Milly nodded and greeted Winnie. Soon, the office door swung open, and a tall man walked in. He had a coat draped over his arm, as if he was about to go out.

Underneath the silver mask, his features were chilling. His gaze fell upon the woman in professional attire sitting by the desk. Winnie found it difficult to resist his half-lazy, half-serious eyes.

"Is there something you need?" Suddenly, Winnie felt like she had become his subordinate.

A question with vague and unnatural undertones arose. She felt her face flush under his intense gaze. "Perform well on your first day in office and take care of Triton's matters with the senior executive," he instructed her.

Winnie nodded. She had forgotten about the Triton meeting earlier in the morning. But considering Triton's steady progress and her willingness to help him, she decided to join the Kingdom Estates.

"Can you handle two companies, businesswoman?" He raised an eyebrow, approached with long strides, stood in front of the table, and loomed over her with proximity. "Sell that small company, Triton, and focus on assisting me."

Winnie noticed that Luke and Milly had left, closing the door behind them.

Slightly annoyed, she replied, "Triton is the legacy of my mother's father. It's not possible to sell. My mother's father, Cameron Granger, was once a renowned businessman. Have you heard of him, L?"

"Cameron Granger?" L's expression changed slightly.

Winnie became interested. "Have you met my mother's father?"

L's eyes shifted; a hint of complexity concealed deep within them. He denied, "No."

Winnie found his gaze somewhat strange. She was somewhat suspicious but didn't dwell on it. She smiled and said, "My mother's father is called Cameron Granger, my uncle is Elliott Granger, and my mother is Irene Granger..."

Initially, her tone was lighthearted, but suddenly it turned desolate and cold. Her eyes slowly welled up with tears. "Unfortunately, Cameron and my mother passed away early, and only my uncle is left."

The man gazed deeply into her face for a while before solemnly saying, "You have me in the future." Winnie felt the warmth emanating from him, as if it had permeated her, dispelling the chill within her body.

She nodded vigorously and glanced at his coat. "Are you leaving?"

"The Kingdom Estates is just one of my companies. Your husband is busy, and he will be away on a business trip later." He raised an eyebrow and checked his watch.

Just one company? Winnie's guess was indeed correct. Could he be a business magnate?
Winnie stared at him in a daze, only to be pulled into a kiss without warning.

"Mm, you should get back to work, L..." Winnie's face turned red, and she quickly looked around. Fortunately, there were no glass walls nearby. She pushed him away with her hand.

"What's my name? Say it in a way that makes me unable to resist." The office setting intensified the man's passion, making his voice husky and taut.

Releasing her in haste, he held her face. "You are familiar with the company's operations. Milly will assist you. Call me if you need anything."

"You should go now." Winnie dared not look at him.
The man turned and strode away. Luke and a few assistants followed at the entrance.

After cooling down in the office for a moment, she sat down and remembered the conversation about Cameron and her mother. Winnie never forgot that their memorial days were approaching, right at the end of the year.

For the past four months, she had been with... L.

The Anderson family was in turmoil, and now the Anderson family was close to ruin. Triton had been taken away from her, and Darcy has also left Lymington.

She now had time to do her own thing. She needed to contact her uncle, Uncle Elliott, before the anniversary. The cause of her mom and Cameron's death needed to be investigated.

Winnie immediately thought of Daniel and Cameron's address book in his hands...

Her eyes narrowed. It's time to settle the score with Daniel. She called the senior executives at Triton, "Please settle Daniel's performance shares at Triton."

Winnie furrowed her brows and, at that moment, Milly, her assistant, knocked on the door holding a large stack of files. "Ms. Anderson, here are the documents you requested on the Kingdom Estate senior executives and the recent projects of the five-star hotel group."

Winnie nodded and quickly skimmed through them as she asked, "Have the senior executives arrived at the conference room? I just took office, and we are scheduled to have a meeting."

"Well..." Milly's face slightly changed. "Ms. Anderson, I notified them, but they didn't go. It may be because Manager Baker hadn't given the green light."

Winnie paused. As soon as L left, these people no longer respected her. After all, she suddenly entered the company. She wasn't surprised, and she narrowed her eyes and looked at Manager Baker's file.

"Apart from the Vice President, Manager Baker is the most senior executive, right?" she asked Milly.

"Yes, Manager Baker improved the Kingdom Estates' profits by 5% last year. He is highly respected and influential in the company..."

Winnie remembered this Manager Baker. She was about to approach the forces left by Darcy.

"Summon Manager Baker. I want to meet him." Milly left, to carry out her task.

But a few minutes later, she returned, looking dejected. "Ms. Anderson, Manager Baker declined and said he has a meeting and can't make it. Should I call the CEO?"

Manager Baker was secretly belittling her, and there really was a meeting on the surface. If she reported this to L, it would only prove her lack of management skills.

Winnie understood that she had to pass this test. Leaning back in her chair, she glanced at the time and stood up with a smile. "No rush, let's have lunch first."

"The company restaurant is on the 26th floor." Milly entered the elevator and introduced it to her.

Truly befitting a leading real estate company's restaurant, it was luxurious. Winnie spotted a private room and was about to enter when someone approached from the side.

Manager Baker raised an eyebrow and said lightly, "Ms. Anderson is here for lunch too? My apologies, but can we chat first?"

"This private room used to be Darcy's!"
