Chapter 287 Winnie Meets Her Uncle

Lymington Prison.

Rock, with the lawyer, secretly brought Winnie inside.

Inside the visiting room, tears streamed down Winnie's face upon seeing her emaciated and tortured uncle.

"Uncle..."

Elliott's eyes also turned red. Leaning on a cane, he struggled to sit down on a chair, deeply moved.

"Winnie, I've been waiting for you for three years. Why didn't you come? The information here is cut off, and I was afraid Lawrence R would retaliate against you. It's been difficult to survive."

It was more than just difficult to survive; she had even experienced death. The events of the past three years couldn't be explained in just a sentence or two.

Rock spent money to arrange for two warnings and left immediately. He came back and patted Winnie on the shoulder, comforting her.

"Let's focus on the matter at hand."

"Uncle, this is the lawyer I hired. He has a recording pen, and there are no bugs at the moment. Quickly tell us the detailed account of the incident that occurred a month ago because only you know the truth."

"I've been wrongly accused!"

Elliott slammed the table in frustration and began to recall, "A month ago, my former cellmate suddenly got put in solitary confinement. I found it strange in the first place. But that afternoon, the prison guards brought a new inmate named Jacob to my cell."

Elliot continued and narrated the incident from that fateful night, “He was tall and sturdy, and he claimed to be a former truck driver. With my weakened body from these three years in prison, I tried to avoid him; I didn't dare to provoke him... But that night, late at night, he forced medicine into my mouth!"

Winnie tightened her grip on her hands.

Elliott continued, "I don't know what medicine it was, I shouted, but the guards ignored it. He kept feeding me for three days straight, and I started feeling mentally abnormal, disoriented, and filled with violence, as if I wanted to hurt someone.”

Winnie could sense the helplessness and frustration as Elliot kept going, “On the fourth day, they said I had a conflict with Jacob during an activity, but I didn't remember that. That night, after everyone had fallen asleep, Jacob threatened me to go to the bathroom, and if I didn't, he would stab me with a toothbrush. I had no choice but to follow him. There, he fed me the last pill, and then I can't remember anything.”

Elliott held his head, consumed by anguish.

“When I woke up, I saw blood all over the floor, and I was holding that sharpened toothbrush, which I had stabbed into Jacob's throat. Jacob was long gone, and no one had entered the bathroom all this time. In panic, I got up and ran out, and the guards came rushing in because they found another toothbrush under my pillow. I was immediately labeled as a suspect, charged with intentional murder. I asked the guards for a blood test, but they completely ignored me. Later, a few unrelated inmates stood up and claimed they saw me killing Jacob... and that's how the case was closed....It's simply outrageous!
I didn't even have a chance to speak, and I was put into solitary confinement until today."

Winnie, with a pained expression, clenched her teeth and held onto her uncle's hand. "The inmates, the guards, even Jacob, it's all a setup."

"The drugs are the key," Mr. Wilson frowned.

Fortunately, Winnie had come prepared. She was well-versed in medicine, and she quickly glanced at Rock, who stood guard at the door.

Winnie took out a syringe and drew her uncle's blood. "It's been a month, and the substances should have metabolized by now, but we can't overlook any trace. Uncle, try to remember the details, including if Jacob revealed anything."

"Jacob... he definitely has connections. He came in with ulterior motives and was able to bring in drugs and even alcohol. One day he was drinking and mentioned his wealthy nephew who works as Winnie Anderson's secretary, also saying that his nephew gave him a lot of money and that his family moved abroad."

"This is a classic case of hiring a hitman," Mr. Wilson stated.

Winnie finished drawing the blood, nodding. "We need to investigate Jacob's family members, this Winnie Anderson, who should be Darcy. Uncle, tell me the name of the corrupt guard who clearly took bribes in this case. And also, write down the names of those witnesses who claimed they saw you commit murder."

Winnie knew who was behind it all, and now she had to prove that the Ordelia family orchestrated this wrongful case!

Only then could she save her uncle.

The visit ended quietly in the darkness of the night, and it took Winnie a long time to let go of her uncle's hand...

With Rock by her side, she walked out of the prison.

The man noticed her heavy mood, and his warm eyes revealed an appreciative wisdom.

"Since you came back, you haven't stopped for a moment. I know you want to save Triton and your uncle. You don't want Darcy to have any leverage over you anymore. You plan to retaliate without hesitation, right?"

Winnie clenched her fists; that was indeed her plan. She couldn't afford to have any weaknesses that could be exploited. Her grudge against Darcy was beyond measure.

Three years ago, when Darcy forced her to her death, she revealed the hatred between the Ordelia family and the Granger family... It all needed to be dealt with meticulously.

She had no intention of letting the Ordelia family off the hook.

"Everything is progressing step by step, and our actions have already been swift. After all, Triton is returning to the market tomorrow, and your career is coming back, Winnie," Rock sincerely said.

"Thank you." Winnie smiled as she thought about Triton's opening ceremony tomorrow. "Will you be my chief advisor for Triton?"

"It would be my honor," Rock said warmly, briefly gripping her hand before leaving the prison in his car.

In a bar, Darcy turned around but was suddenly pressed against the wall by a man, and they passionately kissed. At first, she whimpered, but soon her legs grew weak, and she couldn't think straight.

Her eyes became tender, and a playful smile formed on her lips as the man teasingly touched her waist.

"Darcy, judging by your appearance, is Lawrence R not satisfying you?"

He subtly moved his hand towards her lower waist.

Darcy was breathing heavily from the kiss, blushing, and she quickly stopped the man's hand, raising her head with a hint of surprise.

"Is it you?!"

"It's me. I sent you a message last time, but you didn't reply. Long time no see, beauty. Did you miss me?" The man let go of her and embraced her, leading her towards a private room.

Darcy's gaze flickered with uneasiness, and she furrowed her brows, refusing to follow.

She distanced herself and said coldly, "Mars, our past is long gone. We had our closure. Why did you come from Trento City to Lymington?"

"I missed you. After all these years, I couldn't forget your taste," Mars replied with his back facing her.

His tall figure blocked the drinks on the table. He squinted slightly, slipping some powder into a glass.

Darcy looked at his back and physique. He was also a top-notch, elegant man from Trento City, especially since he was Commander Bob's adopted son. Back then, they were nothing more than a one-night stand...

Darcy pretended to be innocent and said, "Mars, I am engaged to Mr. L now. We are getting married soon. Forget about me!"

Mars walked over teasingly, grabbed her waist, and turned her around, imprisoning her on his lap.

Darcy blushed immediately.

"In the past, you couldn't have Lawrence R because he was married, so you chose me. Now, I heard that Lawrence R. is sick... No way, can you handle the life of a widow, Darcy?" He came closer and kissed her again.

Darcy felt that his arrival in Lymington was sudden, especially considering he was Mr. L's half-brother, without any blood relation.

Although she was somewhat tempted, she rejected him and climbed down, saying, "I love Mr. L very much. Everyone in our circle knows that. I only want him, so don't bother."

"Are you being this heartless?" Mars looked desolate, picking up the wine glass on the table. "Can't we have a drink when old acquaintances meet?"

Darcy just wanted to get away from him.

Pausing for a moment, she grabbed the wine glass from the table and downed it, saying, "Mr. L is waiting for me at home. I should go first."

But before she had even left the private room, she felt an inexplicable heat spreading through her body. Darcy's breathing quickened, and she turned back, puzzled.

Mars, with an evil smile, leaned against the door frame, watching her calmly.

"What did you put in that glass of yours?" Darcy's annoyance turned into alertness.

Mars walked over, pinching her chin. "I saw what happened between you and Ray just now, and even recorded it. You know, Darcy, I know quite a few of your secrets, such as the fact that you have two kidneys."

Darcy's face turned pale.

Mars smirked. "Lawrence R doesn't know about this, does he?"
