Chapter 839 I Don't Like You
"Why pretend to be clueless?" Olivia sneered softly. "Aren't you with Lynn right now? Since you've made your choice, stop pretending. It only makes you seem indecisive."
"Olivia, don't test my patience. I haven't even spoken yet. How do you know what I'm going to say?"
"Then tell me, are you with Lynn? Were you with her last night?"
"I wasn't with her last night! But I'm with her now because..."
"No need to explain." Olivia thought of the diagnosis that said Lynn could never have children and closed her eyes in despair.
She thought, 'Stop being ambiguous with him, Olivia. There's no future for you. You're not a young girl anymore. Young girls can bravely chase love and start over if they fail. But as a single mom with a child, can you afford to fail in pursuing Jeremy?'
She couldn't afford it!
She cut off Jeremy's words harshly and coldly, "You can be with her all you want. I don't care because I don't like you at all!"
Jeremy felt suffocated with frustration.
She had given her answer, and it was that she didn't like him at all.
Olivia didn't need his explanation because Olivia didn't like him.
Even if he slept with Lynn, she wouldn't be upset.
She didn't like him, so she wouldn't care or be jealous.
Alright, stop overthinking it.
Jeremy's chest was filled with a seething anger, but beneath that anger was a hollow emptiness, as if his body was draining away, leaving him powerless.
Could all this flirting have been Olivia playing him?
He, the heir to the DeRoss Family, being played by Olivia?
He gritted his teeth. "Olivia, I don't just fall for any woman. I'm giving you one more chance. Do you like me or not?"
"Mr. DeRoss, is your affection supposed to be charity? Should I be grateful?"
Olivia's mind was filled with the photos Lynn had sent her.
She gripped her phone tightly, her words sharp, "You want me to be your mistress? You're not qualified."
"Is that how you see me? Olivia, you're something else! Do you think I can't get any woman I want? Do you think you're qualified to be my woman?" Jeremy was furious, his words cutting.
Olivia swallowed her sobs hard. "Since you look down on me, I wish you and Lynn the best!"
Jeremy slammed the phone down.
Olivia flinched, slowly leaning against the wall, her eyes brimming with tears, making it hard to see Mia's little face.
Mia cried anxiously, "Mommy, talk it out. Why are you fighting with Jeremy like this? You clearly like him, so why say things you don't mean?"
"Because he chose Lynn. I don't want to keep chasing him!" Olivia stubbornly wiped away her tears, giving a self-mocking smile. "Let him be with Lynn, so he won't harm anyone else."
"Jeremy is so stupid. Lynn is awful, and he still won't break up with her. Is he that dumb?" Mia was also very disappointed.
Seeing Olivia fail to find her a daddy, she ran back to her room to talk to Sidney.
At Lawrence's villa.
Lawrence noticed Jeremy hadn't returned and called him, ready to tease him about how long he planned to stay with Olivia. Suddenly, he sensed something was off in the call.
"Jeremy?" Lawrence asked. "Aren't you at Olivia's place?"
"Yeah. Lawrence, I have something going on." Jeremy sounded weak, still angry.
He usually wasn't like this.
Lawrence furrowed his brow, his tone deepening. "What happened?"
"Lynn caught me yesterday. I'm with her now." Jeremy frowned deeply.
Lynn? Lawrence vaguely remembered that Lynn was Jeremy's fiancée.
But none of them took Lynn seriously.
It was clear Jeremy didn't like Lynn.
"Why are you with her?" Lawrence was puzzled.
Jeremy pressed his lips together and spoke honestly, "I proposed breaking off the engagement, and she threatened me. Lynn saw that I didn't want to show up, and she wants to inform Sam. You know Sam isn't a good person."
Lawrence understood immediately, his brow furrowing tightly. "So you're dealing with her now?"
"I have to keep her quiet. We can't let anything jeopardize your plans with NexaCore Group." Jeremy sneered. "It's only for half a month. After that, I'll get rid of her completely."
Lawrence felt he couldn't let Jeremy suffer like this.
He wanted the Rodriguez Group to rise again, and Jeremy had sacrificed a lot for it.
He felt ashamed.
"Jeremy, what about Olivia... Olivia won't misunderstand you, right?" Lawrence rarely cared about others' relationships.
"Forget it, don't mention her! Olivia doesn't care about me, so there's no misunderstanding. Don't overthink it," Jeremy said angrily.
It seemed they had already fought.
Lawrence pinched his brow hard. "If it comes to it, use extreme measures to shut Lynn up."
"No measure is as safe as me personally monitoring her. The NexaCore Group matter must be foolproof. Besides, my grandfather is still quite satisfied with Lynn. I can't just kill her to silence her; I can't do that."
The DeRoss Family valued loyalty, and Jeremy was Louis's chosen heir.
This was a tough situation. It seemed Jeremy would have to endure for half a month.
Lawrence tightened his fist. "Jeremy, I'll repay this favor. If you want to pursue Olivia in the future, I'll make sure Winnie helps you."
The first part was normal.
But the second part made Jeremy's mouth twitch. "Lawrence, you haven't even won over Winnie yet. Did you forget you haven't succeeded with her?"
Jeremy knew Lawrence hadn't won over Winnie yet.
Lawrence coughed lightly, embarrassed, and hung up the phone.
Lawrence strode back from the terrace.
Winnie approached, holding her phone, her brows furrowed. "Lawrence, were you calling Jeremy?"
"I hung up already. What's wrong, Winnie?"
Winnie was angry. "Call him back! I need to ask him what he did to Olivia. Olivia suddenly isn't answering my calls. She was supposed to go to work with me at the Blanchet Group today, but Sidney just came over saying Mia was crying badly, saying Jeremy doesn't want to be her daddy anymore, and that he's with a bad woman. Is it Lynn?"
Lawrence listened, feeling troubled.
