Chapter 241 Darcy's Victory.
Laura had never hated Ray this much before, her fingers trembling. "It's all because of you, blind and heartless, supporting Darcy's lies. You three are a bunch of bitch couples, and none of you will have a good ending! I regret ever marrying a rotten person like you, blind to reality!"
"What... what are you saying?" Ray frowned, stunned by her tirade. He had never seen her so angry before.
"Lawrence R!" Laura's tears flowed uncontrollably. "You have no idea what Winnie had endured in the mental hospital. After she finally escaped last night, she wanted to find you. Why weren't you in Lymington? Can't you think about it properly?"
Darcy hated Olivia and Winnie. Olivia was now ruined, her whereabouts unknown. She must be terrified. And Winnie... Winnie...
Laura covered her face and ran out, overwhelmed with despair.
At the entrance, Jeremy arrived late, his evil peach blossom eyes filled with exhaustion, unable to hide behind his glasses.
Benjamin was furious. "Where the hell were you? Last night, Mr. L's child was born prematurely, and Winnie abandoned the baby and ran away. We don't know if she's fallen into the sea or escaped! Darcy said Winnie colluded with Olivia to frame her, but it backfired, and Mr. L couldn't bear it. He was crushed..."
Jeremy's expression froze, and his gaze immediately turned towards the hospital room.
"This Olivia hired thugs to kidnap Darcy, but ended up being insulted by them instead. Now we don't know where she's hiding, and her reputation is completely ruined."
Jeremy frowned even more. That cute girl?
"Where were you last night?" Benjamin asked again.
Jeremy's eyes evaded his gaze, the once burning desire fading away. He locked his brow and said, "I didn't deliberately stay away, you know I'm involved in the underworld. I was attacked last night and nearly died, but luckily, a woman saved me."
He had gone all out last night, uncontrollable, and might have ruined that woman.
When he woke up this morning, she was gone.
Jeremy didn't want this to happen. The first time he unexpectedly gave in, he knew he had to take responsibility.
Turning his head, he instructed his attendant, "Continue to find that woman." Benjamin paused and suddenly understood what was going on.
He was in no mood to tease Jeremy and hurriedly let him into the ward. Jeremy spoke with gravitas, always able to make Mr. L listen to some extent.
"Mr. L?"
Jeremy anxiously called out to the pale man. The furrow between his brows deepened, and he sat there like a cold sculpture. Overnight, Mr. L seemed like a different person. Beneath his calm demeanor was a chilling sense of distance.
"Mr. L, I've already heard from Luke about the situation. I think there are a few points you should pay attention to.” Jeremy tried to unpack the information at hand.
“First, why did your company have an accident last night? I heard from Luke that you wanted to take Darcy to the south, but she claimed to have stomach pain and didn't go.” There was still no response as Jeremy spoke.
“And coincidentally, Winnie teamed up with Olivia to accuse Darcy, escaping from the sanatorium to save Rock? Don't you think everything is too coincidental?"
Lawrence R raised his eyes slowly, his gaze icy and dark. "You personally told me a while ago that you investigated my mother's transplant surgery. Didn't you find any suspicious points?"
"I only did a preliminary investigation into that surgery." Jeremy defended.
"Last night, Winnie and Olivia conspired and found a girl to falsely accuse Darcy of kidney donation, while Ray took Darcy for a medical examination, confirming that she indeed has a single kidney. When you investigated the kidney department, did you encounter Olivia or Winnie?"
Jeremy paused, thinking of Olivia. He focused on the matter, not the person. "I did meet Miss Smith at the hospital that day. At the time, she came out of Mr. Gonzalez's office, presumably investigating the transplant surgery or Darcy."
Lawrence R snorted lightly, his gaze turning colder. "That's not what I see. She went to the hospital to find a girl selling organs. At that time, she and Winnie were planning to frame Darcy with a carefully thought-out plan."
Jeremy remained silent, unable to refute. After all, he remembered that when he asked Olivia, she indeed evaded the question about the purpose of her visit to the hospital.
Lawrence R stared at the incubator, his fist tightening with a squeak. "Luke, spread the word the Smith family is to be shut down, outcast from any business dealings."
"Mr. L, Winnie hasn't been found yet. Maybe she really fell into the sea, or perhaps there's another hidden motive behind this." Luke tried to defend.
"Anyone who dares to speak for that woman, don't blame me, Lawrence R, for turning heartless!" Lawrence R’s tone was cold.
Jeremy frowned but continued, "Mr. L, I know you are deeply hurt, but even if Winnie is heartless, she still left behind this child for you..."
"Huh?" His already cold heart and icy expression seemed to have been tempered by countless ice layers, forever impossible to penetrate.
"No, she didn't leave behind, she abandoned it, she didn't want it! Jeremy, you will never understand my feelings, just like...being dead."
His eyes, like an abyss, cast into the stone, without any sound, filled with hatred.
Darcy was delighted when she heard the news from outside the door. She turned around, confidently made a phone call, and raised her high chin.
"Mr. L ordered the Smith family to be blacklisted. Do you know how to fan the flames? Jeffery, take more scandalous photos and go find Olivia. Threaten her not to speak up, or the Smith family's elders will pay for it. Publicize her story, make her a street rat!"
This way, with Olivia and her "evidence," Darcy didn't have to worry about her talking anymore.
A few days later, news came back from Trento City that no suspicious woman was captured outside the police station during Rock's interrogation.
Luke sadly reported to Mr. Rodriguez, not daring to plead but only saying, "Mr. Rodriguez, it appears that Miss Anderson did not come to save Rock. Was Miss Ordelia mistaken that night, or was it a rumor? Maybe Miss Anderson really fell into the sea by accident! We need to increase the manpower to search the waters."
Lawrence R's mind flashed for a second, thinking of another child being thrown into the sea when he was so small. He couldn't muster any waves of emotion anymore, tiredly sneering, "Then my child will accompany hers in death. Find my child... I want to give him a proper burial."
A month later, the captain of the search and rescue team, who Darcy had bribed, secretly told her, "Miss Ordelia, we found two incomplete bodies in the coral reefs underwater, one adult and one infant."
Darcy's eyes sparkled, almost filled with joy. Finally, everything was settled, and Winnie's death was confirmed!
She quickly transferred a huge sum of money to the captain, instructing him to fabricate the result that only one infant was found.
When Lawrence R received this result, he only let out a disdainful laugh, his heart growing cold as ice. He had been alone at the bottom of the sea for a month, and his mother had truly heartlessly abandoned him and left.
He rushed to the police station to claim the small, pitiful corpse. With tears in his reddened eyes, he stayed alone in the morgue for a whole day.
Later on, he buried the child in the most prestigious cemetery in Lymington.
Afterwards, the name Winnie was erased overnight, disappearing completely from Lymington! No one dared to mention those two words in front of Lawrence R.
Miss Anderson, the business genius who married two powerful men in Lymington within a year, and caused the tragic deaths of the two Harrington family sons.
Her scandal, like the endless rain in this city, suddenly cleared overnight, leaving no trace.
Darcy firmly secured her position as Mrs. Rodriguez. She had achieved a complete victory. Winnie was dead, and she made Mr. L think she had escaped alive and resent her to the core.
She had expected that after the initial guilt, Mr. L would also hate that little bastard as much as she did! But she underestimated the importance of the child in Mr. L's heart—
