Chapter 46 Revenge at the Bar
Victoria thought that Winnie reacted rather quickly.
She smiled and said, "Ava introduced me to Jason. She's much more generous than you."
Winnie was taken aback but quickly understood. Ava had deliberately approached Victoria a month ago, who helped Victoria to seduce Jason as she wanted to make those close to Winnie suffer as well.
Winnie suddenly asked, "Did Ava invite both you and Jason here tonight?"
"Yes, but don't think about doing anything to me. I'm now Ava's best friend. Jason highly regards the bond we share and that's precisely why he intends to marry me. Olivia lacks both charm and maturity, she's akin to a child. Jason doesn't even have a fondness for her. Oh, and about this secret, you must keep it hush until you witness your best friend gets dumped." Victoria confidently strolled away.
Winnie stood there as she felt suffocated at the thought of Olivia.
"Winnie, what's wrong? Why are you so angry?" Ava approached with a smile not far away.
Winnie glanced upward and realized that Ava had been observing the confrontation for some time. It became apparent that Ava intentionally orchestrated Jason and Victoria's presence to catch them in an affair and cause trouble for Winnie. While Winnie had only intended to locate Victoria, Ava's deliberate efforts to distance her from her friendship with Victoria left her feeling unhappy.
Winnie clenched her hands and asked, "Didn't you invite me to your celebration party?"
"Yes, Winnie, I wanted to show you, Daniel has prepared a luxurious feast for me!" Ava exclaimed and pulled her onto the dance floor.
In front of a luxurious private room, Ava stopped and pointed inside. "Winnie, go in and sit first. I'll call Daniel and the guests."
Winnie stared at her, smirked, and went in to sit down.
Just as Ava walked out, Lily approached her.
She was wearing an ill-fitting dress and begged. "Ava, can you lend me another latest Chanel skirt? This one doesn't fit well, and there are so many wealthy people tonight. I want to look even more beautiful."
Ava glanced at her coldly. "You want to be more beautiful than me?"
Lily's face instantly stiffened, and she tried to please Ava and said, "Ava, that's not what I meant. I'm not as pretty as you."
"It's good that you know. Control your behavior of clinging to the rich and stop embarrassing me. If you really want to seduce someone, it’s better not to wear anything at all." Ava sneered.
Lily's face turned red with embarrassment but she dared not say anything.
Suddenly, she noticed Winnie in the private room.
This made Lily feel even more embarrassed and she glared at Winnie fiercely.
Winnie ignored her but she didn't miss Ava's ominous smile before leaving.
She patiently waited and wondered what trouble Ava would cause tonight.
Ava called Lily aside and smirked as she instructed, "Go and bring Leonard to Winnie's private room."
"Ava, why?" Lily asked.
Impatiently, Ava replied, "You're so foolish. Just do as I ask. Why are you asking so many questions?"
Lily reluctantly nodded.
Ava watched her go and immediately turned in another direction.
She headed straight to find Eudora, the annoying woman who had always disliked her but she needed her tonight.
The idea of pulling Leonard into Winnie's private room, observing the situation, and anticipating how Leonard would pester Winnie had thrilled Ava.
She couldn't wait to humiliate her tonight.
The previous night at the Pearl Club left Ava feeling humiliated. What further infuriated her was that when she went home in tears and turned to Daniel, he not only refrained from immediately pursuing Winnie as he had done before but also inquired about Winnie's situation. It was at that moment Ava realized something was awry.
Ever since the charity gala, Ava didn't know what has happened to Daniel. It seemed like he still had feelings for Winnie and she would never allow that.
Tonight, she would use the Davis family to get rid of Winnie once and for all.
About ten minutes later, Lily entered the private room with a drunk Leonard.
When Leonard saw Winnie's stunning face, his eyes brightened instantly.
Lily felt a pang of jealousy. She had been helping Leonard walk all the way and he hadn't even looked at her.
As she remembered Ava's instruction from earlier, Lily placed Leonard on the sofa and pushed Winnie toward him then immediately locked the door of the private room.
"What's the rush?" Winnie asked.
"Excuse me?" Lily interrupted with an angry gaze, "What did you just say?"
Winnie taunted her. "Did Ava instruct you to trap Leonard and me in this room? If I were in your shoes, after facing such humiliation from Ava, I might have seized the opportunity with the intoxicated Leonard. Ava treats you like a pawn, and deep down, you realize that becoming Mrs. Davis wouldn't be a bad idea, gaining control over Ava. Leonard, being the legitimate child, holds immense wealth. And now, he's very intoxicated."
Lily pondered for a while and thought that Winnie was right, this was the perfect opportunity. Not only can she assert her dominance over Ava but she can also change her family's poor situation. Those debutantes will never dare to bully or mock her again especially about her borrowed dress.
Lily's eyes glimmered with greed.
Winnie seized the opportunity while Lily was fixated on Leonard and took the key from Lily. "Opportunities like this only come once, so seize the moment. I'll guard the door for you."
She then left and locked the door behind her.
Winnie surveyed the bar's dance floor. It was still quiet, reminiscent of the calm before a storm. Winnie had a good idea of what kind of storm was brewing. Ava was always scheming against her.
In that case, Winnie thought, she might as well add fuel to the fire and make the night more exciting.
With a mischievous smile, Winnie approached the bartender and ordered a drink in Jason's name. She then instructed the bartender to deliver it to Victoria.
A few minutes later, Victoria gracefully walked toward the luxurious private room, her voice coy. "Jason, you truly are full of energy."
As she entered, Winnie quietly locked the door behind her.
Winnie sat in the nearby booth that led to the private room, her expression cold and serene as she sipped her water slowly.
In the distance, a commotion erupted as Ava tried to calm Eudora down whose face has exuded anger. It was common knowledge that Eudora had a fiery temper and was fiercely protective of her younger brother. Any woman who dared to seduce him wouldn't be able to escape Eudora's wrath. Leonard lacked self-control so it was Eudora who kept a close watch on him.
Ava attempted to soothe her and said, "Eudora, don't be upset. Perhaps Winnie just had to discuss something with Leonard. You're aware she's on the verge of being disqualified from the competition for copying my work, and she feels abandoned by Daniel. She might be attempting to charm Leonard."
After hearing Ava's words, Eudora's anger reached its boiling point. "The Anderson family always produces such low-class women! Just watch, I'll skin her alive right now!"
Ava smirked, and the two of them quickly passed by the booth area.
But before Ava's smile could fully form, she froze as she noticed Winnie sitting calmly in the booth, sipping her water nonchalantly. Ava's face went stiff, her eyes widening in shock.
