Chapter 830 Oscar Wanted to Tell Lawrence
Carlos didn't believe him at all and snorted, "The Rodriguez Group is on the brink of collapse. Where do you get your confidence from?"
"Even if I abandon everything and give up the Rodriguez Group, I will still protect Winnie. I will never let her get hurt again."
Lawrence spoke earnestly, his voice hoarse, and he didn't look at Winnie while speaking.
Carlos's breathing was heavy.
Winnie was stunned for a moment, slowly raised her head to glance at Lawrence's incredibly handsome profile, and then immediately lowered her gaze.
Her mind was in turmoil.
She had to change the subject. "Dad, the medication you took by mistake needs to be cleared out promptly. I'll take you for a check-up. Through this incident, you must have seen Ishara's true colors, right?"
"She is not the innocent, sickly daughter you thought she was. She has been deceiving you all along. I wanted to warn you a long time ago, but you wouldn't have believed me then."
"Ishara is now obsessed with using Rock to take back the Blanchet Group and push me out. From now on, don't see her alone and give her any opportunities. She is not your biological daughter!"
Her last sentence was heavy, intending to remind Carlos not to soften his heart again.
How could Carlos not know? His heart ached. After all, he had raised Ishara for twenty years. She was Patrick's child, and if Patrick could do bad things to him, Ishara wouldn't be any better!
He said, "I won't anymore. I prided myself on being shrewd all my life, but I was ruined by Eleanor!"
Carlos sighed, looking ten years older, "If I had been more resolute back then and protected Irene and you, Irene wouldn't have been secretly driven out of Trento City by Eleanor while she was pregnant, wandering with Cameron to Lymington, and eventually dying of illness."
Winnie paused, suddenly wanting to reveal the truth, "Dad, my mom didn't die of illness. She was long-term drugged by Eleanor and the Ordelia Family, and when she was on the brink of death, she had a car accident."
Carlos was full of disbelief! "Are you saying Eleanor harmed your mother even after she left?"
"I pieced it together from various sources." Winnie had once confronted Darcy, who had cryptically mentioned the Blanchet Family.
That was when Winnie became determined to find out the truth about Irene's death and returned to the Blanchet Family.
Carlos slammed his fist on the wheelchair, never having hated Eleanor so much, "Winnie, when I die, I don't know how I'll face your mother. Is her ashes buried in Lymington Cemetery?"
Winnie shook her head, uncertain, "The car accident was so severe that my mother's and grandfather's ashes were never found."
Matthew was a temporary arrangement Cameron made for Irene in Lymington, but the Ordelia Family took over the estate.
Matthew never valued Irene; they weren't really married.
The events of those years were too blurry. She was young and couldn't remember much.
Lawrence, standing nearby, recalled carefully and looked at Winnie with deep eyes, "Winnie, I remember when I passed by and saved your grandfather, I only saw your grandfather in the car. Your uncle later treated me as his father's enemy. You should remember."
Mentioning the grudge between them, Winnie looked downcast.
If Elliott hadn't suddenly returned three years ago and forced her to seek revenge, would she and Lawrence be living an ordinary married life now?
After all, it was because of her that his heart was hurt, allowing Darcy to take advantage and blind him with hatred.
She snapped back to reality, and Lawrence might have felt the same melancholy.
Winnie caught a hint of doubt in his words, "You didn't see my mom when you saved my grandfather?"
Lawrence couldn't be sure, "It's been thirteen years. I don't remember, but the car accident was severe. Maybe your mom was blown up on the spot."
Tears welled up in Winnie's eyes and fell.
Was Irene's body completely destroyed?
Carlos's face turned pale, "No one ever told me Irene died so horribly. I even thought for a long time that she abandoned me. It took years of hatred before I knew about Winnie's existence."
Both father and daughter were in pain. Winnie held Carlos's hand, "Ignorance is not a crime. Mom won't blame you from heaven. When you get better, I'll take you to visit Lymington Cemetery."
"I know where it is. I've been there a few times over the years." Carlos held Winnie's hand back, feeling desolate, "If only your mom wasn't in that car accident."
"How could that be?" If Irene had survived, Elliott would have known.
Elliott had rushed over from out of town at that time.
Winnie didn't hold out hope and pushed Carlos for a check-up. Lawrence came over, taking over her task, and said gently, "You're not well either. Sit down. I'll help him with the check-up."
Seeing Carlos's bad attitude towards him and thinking it was inappropriate, Winnie shook her head.
Lawrence used a bit of force and winked at her, whispering, "Winnie, give me a chance to prove myself."
"Lawrence, you have no chance." Winnie gritted her teeth, her eyes cold.
Lawrence felt disappointed but quickly smirked mischievously, "Opportunities are created. No matter how much your dad wants to hit, scold, or kill me, I won't fight back. Isn't that enough for you?"
"Do you all think I'm dead?" Carlos turned back angrily, glaring at Lawrence, "You have no chance! I will never let my daughter have anything to do with you again!"
"Carlos, calm down. I'll take you to the specialist examination room." Lawrence pretended not to hear, took long strides, and pushed the unwilling Carlos away.
Winnie was angry seeing his domineering attitude.
But when she saw Carlos hitting Lawrence hard with his cane, she couldn't help but laugh in anger.
Not far away, two children watched Winnie being both angry and helpless with Lawrence, lost in thought.
To be precise, Sidney was enjoying the show.
Only Oscar was deep in thought.
Oscar took out his small computer and organized the recent tracking of Ishara's whereabouts.
He found a major clue: Ishara had entered and exited Rock's private villa twice.
Were these two hiding something from Winnie?
Moreover, something was strange and worrying. Ishara had been frequently consulting about plastic surgery recently.
She wanted plastic surgery? Why?
Plastic surgery meant surgery.
Oscar was worried about the baby in her belly!
If Ishara wanted surgery, did that mean she didn't want the baby?
That was his brother or sister, and nothing could happen to them!
Oscar was conflicted. He had been trying to keep it a secret, fearing Winnie couldn't handle it and that it would strain Lawrence and Winnie's relationship, leaving the baby homeless!
He had even planned to bribe the hospital staff to take the baby as soon as Ishara gave birth and place it in an orphanage, taking it step by step.
But now, Oscar was still young and worried that Ishara didn't want the baby anymore!
Seeing Lawrence helping Winnie so much this time, even caring for Carlos at the hospital, Oscar didn't know if he could trust him again.
If he told Lawrence the truth about Ishara's pregnancy, he would definitely save the baby at all costs.
But Lawrence would also use the baby to force Winnie to reconcile.
Oscar was burdened with the secret, feeling extremely distressed.
