Chapter 183 Rushing to the Banquet

Darcy stormed out, and outside, her face instantly transformed. Like a gentle butterfly, she got into L's Bentley.

As they left, Darcy once again became the woman by his side.

Winnie dimly reflected on Darcy’s words, standing alone in the living room, facing the mess. She knew the torment had indeed only just begun. She went to the backyard to wash the mop.

"Miss Anderson, let me help you." Taylor looked at her sympathetically. She had witnessed Darcy pouring vinegar earlier, and overheard some of the statements both women had made.

Taylor shook her head. "If it weren't for Miss Ordelia donating a kidney to Madam Rodriguez, her behavior just now wouldn't have been so unkind. Madam Rodriguez never liked her before, and now there's a reason."

Winnie was relieved. Taylor finally saw some things clearly. "Taylor, just be careful around her."

It wasn't until noon that they finished cleaning the living room.

Taylor turned on the TV, raising the volume. Important financial news was playing on the screen.

Tonight, the annual corporate summit in Lymington will take place at the Heidem Hotel. All listed companies will try their best to participate. But the requirements are very strict, almost exclusively for top families and top businesses to exchange ideas.

The news introduced Alan, who is taking control of the Imperial Group, and tonight, he will become the newcomer that the business world focuses on.

Another headline reported the sudden emergence of Island Electronics, and there are rumors that their leader will appear at the summit.

For a while, the two CEOs became the focus of discussion. Winnie was too preoccupied to pay attention to Island Electronics. Her mind was filled with the idea of Alan seizing power.

With this summit being so important, will L attend? Will he be helpless and alone at the summit? Winnie was overwhelmed with concern.

In the morning, she wanted to ask him where he had been this week and what his plans were for the future. But he didn't give her a chance. He hurriedly left with Darcy. What was he going to do?

Winnie was very worried about his current situation. The clock struck four o'clock in the afternoon, and L still hadn't returned.

Winnie had no choice but to call him. He needed to take his medication on time. She called multiple times, but they were all hung up.

The last call was answered by Darcy, her voice lazy. "Stop calling. L's phone has been with me the whole time. He asked me to handle all his personal matters!"

Winnie clenched her fist and took a deep breath before speaking. "He needs to take his medication, otherwise, you know the consequences."

"He's busy. Bring the medication to the Heidem Hotel for me." Darcy intentionally hung up after speaking!

She glanced at the conference room where L was busy, squinting her eyes and flashing a cold smile.

This invited...trouble.
Jeffery asked, "Miss Ordelia, I don't quite understand what you're trying to do."

Darcy wanted Winnie to go to the Heidem Hotel to show off on one hand, and to humiliate Winnie in a big way on the other.

A wicked emotion flashed in her eyes. "You'll find out when the time comes."

When Winnie heard Darcy say that the medicine would be delivered to the Heidem Hotel, she understood that L would be attending the summit. Was he trying one last desperate move?

But the businessmen pursue their own interests. Now that he's failed, people will only ridicule him and won't give him any more opportunities to collaborate.

Would he end up in conflict with Alan...

Winnie was very worried about him. She had to make a trip to the hotel to deliver the medicine and stand by his side, so she could save him if he lost control.

But the summit had high requirements, and Winnie didn't have an invitation.

In this case, she could only call Olivia. Olivia sounded excited, "I also want to go, especially after hearing that the CEO behind Island Electronics will make their first appearance. I really want to see who it is!” Olivia continued.

“But I don't have an invitation either, although Laura should be going with Ray. Winnie, what are you going there for? Don't worry about Triton's matters..."

Olivia comforted her, keeping the true state of Triton a secret.

Winnie forced a bitter smile. Tonight, she couldn't care about Triton. "Lawrence R will be going, and I'm worried about him now that he has nothing left."

"You... You were so happy yesterday talking about him meeting you. Then you started crying and said you wouldn't go back to the hospital. What happened? Are you living at L’s place now?"

"...Yes." Winnie had difficulties explaining and didn't want to worry Olivia. "I'll call Laura."

"Uh..." Olivia's words weren't finished when Winnie quickly hung up.

Laura said she had an invitation, but it was one card per person, so she told Winnie to wait outside the hotel.

At six o'clock in the evening, the Heidem Hotel was incredibly luxurious, and the summit had not yet started.

Laura came out of the banquet hall, planning to tell Ray that she was leaving. After all, he didn't care about her whereabouts.

With a glance, she noticed Ray and Darcy standing close to each other in the sky garden, whispering quietly. Laura squinted and hid behind a door to listen.

Darcy raised her delicate eyebrows and spoke softly, "Ray, L and I are getting engaged!"

"What?" Ray's body tensed slightly.

Darcy looked at the resolute man, took a step closer, and carefully adjusted his tie. She teased, "What, don't you want to let me go?"

"No, I just didn't expect it to happen so soon." Ray smiled wryly.

Meanwhile, Laura observed from her hiding spot behind the door, her heart filled with... tremendous pain.

The pain was written all over her face, as her profile visibly changed at hearing the conversation. She felt a stab in her heart.

Darcy, with her rosy lips and pearly teeth, jokingly said, "I'm just kidding! I've been waiting for L for so many years, and now I can finally be with him. Thank you for taking care of me, Ray. I will always remember your kindness.” Darcy continued a hint of delight in her voice.

“In the future, please be kind to Laura as well. Although her personality and behavior have been spoiled since childhood, and she might have been influenced by Winnie's bad influence, she is not fundamentally bad."

"Alright," Ray said unhappily, "Don't speak well of her. You're just too kind. Winnie can harm even Madam Rodriguez, and she's still friends with Winnie. I will never change my opinion of her."

Laura covered her chest with her hand, a cold smile appearing on her lips. Darcy is truly a scheming bitch, portraying herself as extremely kind while portraying other women as thoroughly bad.

But Ray, being a total fool, believed Darcy. Laura was filled with anger, yet she was also numb to Ray’s insults to her character.

"So, did L and Winnie get divorced?" Ray asked. Darcy glanced around at the many passing merchants.
She intentionally raised her voice and helplessly said, "L has already signed the divorce agreement with Winnie. After what Winnie did to him, how could L endure it?"

"Any man would leave!" Ray exclaimed angrily, his voice becoming louder and attracting others' attention.

Darcy looked around and insincerely said, "Let's not talk about L's private matters. I'm going to find him."

"Well, go ahead," Ray stood still, not moving.

Through her peripheral vision, Darcy noticed Laura hiding behind the door. She curled her lip coldly.

Taking a turn, she arrived at the corner of the banquet hall and squinted at Jeffrey, instructing him, "Winnie is about to come in. Spread the news about L and Winnie's divorce!"

Jeffery instantly understood what Miss Ordelia was planning.
Meanwhile, Laura came out.

Upon seeing her, Ray's face suddenly darkened. "Were you eavesdropping on my conversation with Darcy?"
